OK, today I mowed again, stopped the mower, let the motor run full throttle, laid my arm under the muffler shield, on the grownd.
Still, after a minute or so, to hot to let my arm lay on the grass.
I can't be the only X500 series owner that has very hot air coming off the muffler shield and browning his/her grass???
