Google Earth

I'm playing around with Google Earth on my smart phone and have three questions:

1. Is it common for Google Earth to have roads labeled incorrectly?
2. If the answer to number 1 is yes, is there an easy way to have the mistake corrected?
3. Would Google Earth Pro provide better definition at high magnification?

You can submit corrections to Google. I submitted one for my address using my current location.

At the bottom of the screen there is an option to contribute. Once you click on the contribute option, it gives you a few options. One of those is to edit.

In contributions they love it if you take a screen shot of the area and the mislabeling in question. I'll take a screen shot and then put it in an editor or paint program and point out what changes should be made Make sure the co-ordinates are in the screen shot so they can find it. I've asked to have several local area corrections. Google has been amazingly fast at making these corrections. The one thing I have found to be most incorrect in Google Earth, are areas that are private, that appear to be pubic access.

When I first moved out here, Google Maps had my address about 1/2-mile further West. Map Quest had me 1/2-mile further East. I had a nurse helping my dad out for a while. On her first trip out, she called me and said, "where am I". It was all I could do to keep from laughing. You would think she would ask where I am, not where she was. I asked her to describe her surroundings. She did that well and put her too far East. I gave her directions to the driveway.

In any case, it took years for both Google and Map Quest to correct the error. At that time, they were confusing street/road addresses with utility service addresses (pole numbers out here).

In the the situation ongoing in Ukraine, Un-manned aerial vehicles are targeted by geographic co-ordinates. The weapons are blind. The destination is merely a longitude and latitude. Which according to my GPS phone app (GIA) is +/- 8 feet!

Does Google Earth play in? Who can know....

Google Maps & Google Earth seem to be synchronized as to street information. We discovered they had roads crossing our property where no roads ever existed. We suspect they were there as an Easter egg type of thing to easily identify other services that were stealing their maps to use as their own. We contacted them and they removed the ghost roads a few weeks later. They still show up on other websites that haven't updated their maps.

Does Google Earth play in? Who can know....

The Russians have their own version of GPS called GLONASS. I would assume the military has better access to GPS than we civilians do and their accuracy is better. I am surprised that we are not jamming GLONASS and Russians are not jamming GPS at least in Ukraine.
