Good Morning
28° and partly cloudy, high in the middle 30’s and not much change in the sky.

Yesterday was used up with the trip to Palm Beach. It was a beautiful day for flying, but the winds aloft were strong, over 100kts. But it was smooth with good visibility. Great views out the windows.

Lots of information to decipher here…

This was after sunset on the surface, but we were at 45,000 feet.

My oldest son was in Ft Lauderdale for a meeting, I texted him that if the timing worked, he could ride up with us. He said it would work perfect and met us in Palm Beach. So that was fun. He rode home with me and we stopped for dinner on the way.

Today, I’m back to seeing what I can get into around here, probably help wife get ready for this weekend’s markets. She is doing two on Saturday, with youngest son covering one for her until she wraps up the morning one.

And I have to figure out where I left my nice Benchmade pocket knife. I am sure it’s around here somewhere, but it wasn’t in my pocket.

Morning scotty

Remember minis from years ago and watched them race

I like European style racing and old off road racing land rovers hard to beat long time ago. The original Bronco was really good in the woods oh my I’m old
Yeah, going around in a circle gets old real quick for me, too. Road racing has more of a challenge.

only ones I ever looked at were John Works models with a stick, otherwise why bother.
Good post, but the actual performance difference between a gen.3 Cooper S and JCW is actually pretty small. Their 0-60 times are 6.5 and 5.9 seconds, for the 2021 hardtop in 2dr... a difference to small to even matter when compared to my other sub-3 second cars.

What you're paying for with the JCW isn't so much better street performance, but a car better set up for heavy track use. It's upgraded with heavier and more durable suspension, heavier brakes with cross-drilled or slotted rotors that won't cook cook under heavy track braking, etc. Mostly a waste, unless you plan to actually race the car.

My old boss from South Africa used to joke about "making a storm in a teacup," apparently a common phrase there. Racing Mini's fits that notion. They're a hell of a lot of fun around town, but these aren't exactly Formula 1 cars. :ROFLMAO:

Though even weak base engines can be fun with a stick shift.
Even the JCW is only 228 hp. Not exactly a Hellcat.

you just rev it out more, like we used to.
I drove classic Mini's, and there's just no comparing them to the modern cars. The 1980 Cooper that I drove in West Germany had 39 horsepower. Our 2021 Mini Cooper S has 189 horsepower, nearly 5x more, and curb weight went up only 2x. The modern versions are so much faster than those classics ever were, and you don't need to wind them out so far, anymore.

Winterdeere - Older minis fun, I got to ride in an original cooper back in the late 70's , amazing cars, but yes, they got big. Looked at one while deciding on wife's new car and the 2023 were all bigger, but still too small inside somehow.
lol... you were smaller and more flexible, then! But yeah, even the 2020 gen.3's are bigger than the old ones, and the new gen.4's have nothing "mini" left about them, at all.

wow, that means Ted and Dona got snowed on too
I'll send him a note

back from pain doc, routine, scheduled shot in neck for january.

low tire air pressure light came on driving home. Then it went out.
checked air pressure in all tires, just fine, about 3 over door sticker.
I want more than 32 pounds in these tires.
must be flukey sensor

nothing planned for rest of day
working with one neighbor to give wife and kids of crazy neighbor across from me
a community xmas gift, some cash and a supermarket gift certificate. Tough Christmas for their two teenage kids
with father thrown out for being nuts and dangerous. Not their fault...so want to show a little kindness here.

did you know there is a radio free area in West Virginia.
Scott sure won't be saying hello to anyone there for sure.
this couple that was introduced in this video are a hoot, no filters on their mouths.

but no matter what, I bet this would be a nice drive for a Buckeye adventure some day.
no cell service at all unless you buy a satellite phone and you can't use that either
in the inner quiet zone. Fascinating what is going on in the WV hills.
I think I read more than 200 people moved into that area just to get away
from EMF. Most are the tinfoil hat folks.
Lot of government presence near those big satellites. Lots of "listening stations".
If we are going to hear ET calling home, or some alien communicating with us...
they say those big telescopes need a quiet area to listen. Hence the quiet zone.
I never knew that existed. You can't even take pictures near those big antennas
since the electronic camera gives off slight noise.

bet my wonkey left ear with all the tinnitus would love that place
Likely a restricted flight area also
Green Bank WV

I wonder if the microwave in my rv would fail their noise test.
if you live there, they measure you and bring you a replacement microwave
if yours fails their test. They are really serious about what you emit.

The closest and nicest RV campgrounds near Greenbank, WV include
Cacapon Resort State Park and Canaan Valley Resort State Park, which are highly rated state parks with full hookups, amenities, and natural beauty

66°F and .04 inches rain

Good progress mowing yesterday. About another 3 hours to finish that section.

Good meetup with friends. They are expecting 2 new grandchildren in Mar so rather excited. 2nd for daughter, but 1st for their son who has had challenges in this regard. These are both older kids who didn’t get married until their 30’s.

Likely finish that area mowing today. So much better than being a week too late.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great tractor day

Good Tractor Morning Steve,

Looks like a few added improvements, they do have a code reader for CW, but I can copy 35wpm now and can probably copy 40 wpm for call signs, so that’s no improvement for me. 😉
Yes looking forward to that KPA500 😉 Was it a big difference for you ?
Scott Yes added to the decent antennas it did and best of all the Radio I run @25w and Amp puts out about 250w so the radio is just Loafing along.

let's see you are 2500 miles from me, truly in the wild wild west
nestled along the Clearwater River
I can see why you need a good antenna and an amp
I hope it's ok if I'm curious (gosh we can see if can set off more buzzers...)
are you part American Indian?
would be meaningful/cool if you were
whole area appears heavily tribal

if I ever make it out that way again, definitely want to do it earlier in year so I can go further North.
as much as I'd like to see Ted I don't need to go back to the S/W any more.
would rather be up with the buffalo.
and I didn't see one buffalo last time so I guess that means I have to try again...

Good afternoon, 38 currently and high for the day winds to 26 mph making it feel colder

Went to the Eye Dr appointments this morning. No change in the prescriptions for wife or mine. Wife had the retina scans and found to be fine
I had that earlier at the Specialist check up

Made it down to the "in progress shop" and put the welding cart together. Well made and can hold a 300 cf bottle or two 125 cf bottles.
3 levels is nice and will be able to hold the equipment. nice to have all in one place

Yesterdays steps ended up at 9.5 K
