Good (Monday) morning. Overnight Low was a frosty 0.8C [hopefully the last frost] and it's presently 16.8C, clear and CALM!:D There was 2.8mm in the gauge @0900.

The only thing scheduled is the slow branch/twig clean-up from the wind event. A portion of a Council's road tree fell onto a third of the road [Paddock #4], so I imagine that they'll be along to attend to that. It's a 100kph zone.

I have no idea why my 'count/status' was barely touched... perhaps my Aussie accent/spelling confuses the AI.

That's about it, take care all.

Reasonably productive day.

Got the cross beam for the H-brace on the southeast corner post put up.

Then got those two 4 x 4 line posts set and braced.

Followed by putting the header on the gate posts and getting those into the holes and braced:

Will have some jiggering and tweaking to do on those four tomorrow to get them all plumb ... but all the posts are in the holes for the east side.

The Woman assisted on that and helped do some tamping with the digging bar. And apparently not any more of fan of it than I am ... lol ...

Knocked off around 18:30 and came up and started the charcoal and grilled up some burgers, had 2 with cheese. Woman heated up some Bush's Baked Beans to go along with the burgers and baked another Honey Baby winter squash for desert.

Time for a little football and kicking back on the couch.

I find these "man in the forest" log cabin builds satisfying.

Here's the start,

Here's the start to the roof,

I don't think he has a video up yet of the roof and cabin finished. I may have missed it but here's his page.

Got up early. Wifey made my coffee.

Went to church. Still watching my mother. She treated us to TexMex after church, it was good.

Son and I covered up the plumbing hole. He did the filling back in after we put the french drain back in order and put some insulation on the PEX.

Changed oil in Yamaha FJR1300, used Mobil 1 15w-50. Took a quick jaunt for maybe 10 miles into town and back.

Prayers for our team, our nation and peace in the world.

Did not start a tractor today.

Apparently not su*k* either

TRACTOR
Maybe Muhammad coul auto add tractor to all posts :)
Adding tractor to a post does nothing.

After an event in September, there's been a big issue with user posted content with the g word all over the internet and the brands are responding by saying they don't want their ads next to those comments.

Trust me if I had it my way, we would not have any word filters at all.

Maybe in a few years or if I win the lotto we will be ad free and have nobody to answer to.

In the mean time, minor inconvenience of posts with the g word going into an approval queue.

Heavy rain (heavy for our area, 1/5th-1/8th of our total annual rainfall) forecast for tomorrow and the day after, so lots of catch jobs today. Put away lumber cached for projects. Cut down some more dead buckeyes; we lost a bunch of older trees due to freezing weather a few years ago. Cut them to size and chipped the small limbs, which is a minor chore as the growth habit is for three and four way forks in the limbs that need to be cut apart to chip well. Managed to break a weld on the chipper somehow, so that means getting the welder out and putting a new, longer cord on it. The tractor got a nice workout driving the chipper. Buttoned down a few small weatherproofing items around the house, cleaned out some swales to divert surface water.

Tidied up some pig damage to some drainage swales. We've been having mobs (herds? Droves? Drifts? Sounders? What do you all call a group of pigs?) of up to fifty pigs coming in from an adjacent ranch. They aren't very shy, but the local market is saturated with wild pigs, so no takers to hunt them.

Even if the rain doesn't happen, the ranch got spruced up a bit. I am always happy to check off a few items on the do list.

All the best, Peter

This is the kind of crap that drives me crazy. A commonly used word gets banned, grenade ok? I’ll be using my grease grenade I guess. I guess TSC can’t advertise, they sell grease g u n s. What has the world gotten to. Any Advertiser objecting to the word shouldn’t be allowed to advertise.
Pure censorship without recourse.
