I sure don't feel 59. Where does all that time go ...?

I felt the same about 60, and then 70, and hope to feel the same way about 80 when I get there.

Glad to hear that the kidney stones are in the rear view. So far I haven’t had the joy of experiencing them.

Well, the right one has gotten real bad in the last month - like looking through wax paper now. I got new insurance (medicare advantage HMO) in Jan '25 and the optometrist is not "in network" for the "medical" part. I have an appt this afternoon there for the (initial referral to ophthalmologist/surgeon) exam, and the ins was good enough to grant an emergency auth. They'll have to find me another dr for the f/up after surgery. Hopefully this all goes smooth(er) from here. Deer hunting this year may be a no-go. :(
Bad/worse news. I have a partial retinal tear! Good news, it should be fixable and the specialist will see me Tuesday.

Yes, cataract sx will come later...

A friend brought his neighbor over to show me some parts that they wanted me to make for a bridge on the neighbors property. Essentially they were brackets to secure the 4” thick timber deck planks to the I beams across the creek.
I proposed a much simpler and easier solution using stock shapes rather than custom made parts. Not sure what’s they will do, it seemed like they were determined to do it the hard way.
As a machinist, when folks ask me to make something for them, I say "As long as it isn't brackets or hardware fasteners." Had 1 guy ask me to make him multiple custom stainless hinges for his ski boat's engine cover. When I told him it would take me a week or more to machine them from billet, and $400-600 worth of materials, he said he'd look elsewhere...I guess he got my message.

73°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 93° today. Looks like the heat has returned here for a few days, back into the mid-90s through Tuesday.

The ureteral stent was removed a week ago yesterday - that was no fun - and with any luck, this kidney stone ordeal is now behind me. I know a handful of people who've gone through this more than once, and I can't imagine it ever gets any better. I'm perfectly OK with one and done.

Took the day off work today to celebrate the completion of my 59th trip around the sun. I sure don't feel 59. Where does all that time go ...?

Hope everyone is well.

Good Morning, gents.
Happy Birthday PJS. Hope the stones roll down the stream.

Been busy at work. Still have a lot to do next week.

Working on my Bush Hog today, I switched the 3pt framework over from our old cutter to the one I bought at the auction, except for the tail wheel. I'll probably have to do the tailwheel too later...

Anyway, I got finished hooked up the lower arms, the PTO drive, and then when I went to hook up the top link, the large nest of yellow jackets decided to come after me. I got nailed twice on the forearm, but surprised myself how fast I could back up with 30 of them boogers coming at me. vinegar and baking soda helped and took a benedryl. Feel ok now, but drowsy.

I will get them boogers back when the sun goes down and it is almost dark outside.

15yo son is taking the hardest possible class schedule he could possibly take as a sophomore in High school. I told him to switch or drop 2 and take something easier, saving some for the junior and senior years... He was going to drop 1 and switch, but the counselor told him to get into the class he wanted (which was full) would require him to change his schedule completely. He said just stick with it. I'm worried when they start piling on the homework. He hates homework....or excessive homework.
Honors Algebra 2, Honors Chemistry, Honors Physics, Advanced Placement World History, Dual Credit Spanish, and Honors English 2. I better start praying for him. He is also on the tennis team and should make Varsity (they don't really have a junior varsity). He'll get his butt kicked, but he seems to be taking it seriously.

Praying for peace around the world. Prayers for Bupps and Holly, Ted and Dona, M7040's wife, and others with different problems.

I had surgery on my right eye for a retina tear several years ago.

Retinal tears/detachments are serious but treatable with excellent results. Cataract surgery can increase the odds of getting one.

Good (Saturday) morning. Overnight Low of 2.4C and it's presently 7.4C [heading to 12C], mostly cloudy and calm. There was 0.5mm in the gauge @0900. Yesterday's 'wind warning' = a 3 minute gust. 😐

Guests arrived by 1100, a lovely evening was had.

Today Jim wants to head into Launceston to see an advance screening of the new "Naked Gun" movie. We'll head off in about an hour.

My 'reports' may be a bit sporadic for this coming week.

That's about it, take care all.
