moved the trailer with a load of lumber down to the barn to empty it out
Mounting the trailer hitch on the tractor I remembered the lousy hair clip pins on the stabilizer bars and decided to drill them out and put in some proper SS sturdier clips. Something I never seemed to get around to

Nice breezy morning here. Turning hot and muggy later, I hear. The eye dr told me a year or so ago, that I have cataracts and will need surgery. When, I asked? Oh, you'll know.

Well, the right one has gotten real bad in the last month - like looking through wax paper now. I got new insurance (medicare advantage HMO) in Jan '25 and the optometrist is not "in network" for the "medical" part. I have an appt this afternoon there for the (initial referral to ophthalmologist/surgeon) exam, and the ins was good enough to grant an emergency auth. They'll have to find me another dr for the f/up after surgery. Hopefully this all goes smooth(er) from here. Deer hunting this year may be a no-go. :(

73°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 93° today. Looks like the heat has returned here for a few days, back into the mid-90s through Tuesday.

The ureteral stent was removed a week ago yesterday - that was no fun - and with any luck, this kidney stone ordeal is now behind me. I know a handful of people who've gone through this more than once, and I can't imagine it ever gets any better. I'm perfectly OK with one and done.

Took the day off work today to celebrate the completion of my 59th trip around the sun. I sure don't feel 59. Where does all that time go ...?

Hope everyone is well.

Good Morning, gents.

Happy Birthday.
Some say the earth is spinning faster. So I guess that means we are aging faster.
Hey...only a number right?

80.7F and sunny @ 11:30, heading up to around 88F for the day's high.

Got some bills paid first thing yesterday.

Then got front lawn all mowed yesterday afternoon.

Was warm but not horrid ... guess dew points dropped somewhat.

Cleaned out a spot in one of the cabinets in the laundry room and got the 7 quarts of kosher dill pickles put away.

Put some dishes that had been washed away.

Cleaned off a bunch of yellow straightneck squash and a couple of zucchini after that.

Sliced and diced a whole onion and got that going in a skillet for dinner and threw a couple of squash in. Woman picked up a couple of egg rolls and some shrimp lo mein from the Chinese place to go along with it for dinner.

Looked for the QD coupler for soaker hose on the indeterminate tomatoes and could not find it ... so no watering there. Will look again today.

Also on agenda:

Pay a couple more bills.

Gather up/print out Menards rebate receipts and get them ready to send in.

Water rest of arbs.

Water pumpkins in back, a new Small Sugar has appeared.

Give large peach tree a good watering.

Small peach tree seems to making a good comeback after getting the new cage on it ...

Do some glyphosate spraying in various places.

Was looking yesterday evening and more cukes have materialized, seemingly overnight ...

Beyond that see what else come up.

Hope everyone is having a good TGIF ... (y)

A friend brought his neighbor over to show me some parts that they wanted me to make for a bridge on the neighbors property. Essentially they were brackets to secure the 4” thick timber deck planks to the I beams across the creek.
I proposed a much simpler and easier solution using stock shapes rather than custom made parts. Not sure what’s they will do, it seemed like they were determined to do it the hard way.
When I built bridges like that, in my younger days, we used 2x4s on side for the decking, and nailed on metal clips that had a notch to go over the edge of the I beam, one on either side to keep it from moving. clips are pre made by someone, bought by the case..

got a return in to Lowe’s, and spent my available cash back on a Bosch laser level. Never can have enough of those. Almost bought another impact, with battery and charger for $20 more than price of battery alone.
Waiting for pebbles to get nails trimmed.

Have funeral to attend in PA tomorrow up near state college. Son of a church member, had a long fight with cancer. Will visit wife's cousin afterwards, who lives close.

Happy Birthday PJ.
