Guys working on new fiber line cable in front of house, a real clown show.
One pickup parked in my grass, another bucket truck turning around made a 5 pt turn pulling into my grass several times, back hitch plowed up some of neighbors yard.
Sitting on porch just watching the show

Shows over, they moving up the road. Guess I need to get busy, getting hot again.
That's how it's been here...plus our fiber went out at around noon yesterday and not back up until 6am today...second time this has happened since we switched to fiber...I'm guessing the installers down the road cut or disconnected it.

They were in plain sight. I would have looked at them several times without seeing them during the initial search(s).
I do that when searching for something not used often. It's quite annoying. Actually just did it last week looking for a piece of expanded metal. But finally saw it.

As most of my battery powered tools are Makita, so that's what I bought. (XPG01Z 18V LXT)

To me, the Milwaukee M18 design is similar, and I know folks who like theirs. Despite knowing lots of folks with DeWalt battery tools, I can't recall seeing the DeWalt version of a battery grease gun.

All the best,

Peter
The Dewalt looks the same. It has really worked well, and with the adjustable coupler, I haven't had a need to try a Lock n Lube...but maybe I don't know what I'm missing out on.

If you aren't leaving "goose poops" of grease on certain zerks, i wouldn't rock the boat.

I have a couple of zerks not in the easiest to access locations, and the default coupler on my pneumatic guns used to pop off occasionally.

Make it a great day as a friend used to say.

All the best, Peter

64 going to 77.

Wag, thanks for letting me borrow your clamps...I put them right back where I found them. 😁

Scotty, sounds like you are really mastering the radio thing.

Buppies, sorry about Holly...first thing to always suspect is an UTI.

Ken, I just saw our first yellow jacket of the year yesterday, and then two bald faced hornets this morning...they come to our hummingbird feeders and usually show up starting in August. I can usually find the hornets nest, but haven't found one this year, yet. One year I found it by mistake...pushing a push mower up to cut the weeds under a cedar...they found my legs before I saw their nest.

Took my wife to Orange yesterday...a small historic town near James Madison's Montpelier estate on the way to the mountains. Had a nice lunch at a Mexican restaurant and walked around visiting a couple shops and the train station. The Norfolk Southern crew were using their high-tech rail car to measure track alignment next to the station. I talked to the chief about the pending merger.

There are some growing pains when a new fiber system gets up.

We've experienced a couple outages. One of those outages took a while to get back up, since a car missed the turn and mowed down the distribution network up the street.

At work, we were losing the fiber regularly. They've been doing quite a bit of new construction in the industrial complex. So it required a wider road and more utilities. The boring company would cut the fiber line at least once a week.

I got a call from or IT department one day asking me why our fiber was down.

I walked outside and looked across the street.

A trackhoe hit a water main and sunk about where the fiber line was.

At that point water was shooting about 30ft in the air.

I told the IT person that it would probably be down the rest of the day at least.

He started demanding that I go out and ask them when it was gonna be up

I told him that wasn't gonna happen, told him about the 30ft geyser soaking the power pole. And reiterated that the network probably wouldn't be back up today. Then hung up.

He called my boss to complain and got the same response from my boss

good trip to Costco after dropping off several pounds of tomatoes to Popgadget on the way.
Costco wasn't too crowded thankfully and got some interesting things to provide some food variety.
plus the normal detergent and supplies.
nice to get some things back in the downstairs freezer, silly to run it with only freezer packs in it

headed out in a little bit to work on the rv.

77F and mostly sunny @ 12:00, heading up to around 82F for the day’s high.

Refilled hopper and both tube feeders first thing yesterday, also scattered some seeds for the ground feeders.

Two trips with the Cub and dump cart up to the cans at the road with garbage and recyclables.

More glyphosate spraying along west perimeter where arbs are going.

Refilled one glyphosate sprayer.

Replaced hanger tie that keeps breaking on the Japanese Beetle trap out front with a piece of aluminum wire.

Hauled down another two bucket loads of wood chips.

Got two more planting holes drilled with the PHD. One of them was an old hole that we had planted a Japanese yew in that later died ...

That last hole won't get used for an arb ... probably stick a Rose of Sharon or a Swamp Milkweed in it.

Dumped three shovelfuls of peat moss in each of the three planting holes.

Discovered a Guatemalan Blue that I had missed and got it tied up in a sling:

Have a Small Sugar pumpkin on the back trellis I need to get a sling on today.

Got the remaining two tomato plants in grow bags watered/fed and mulched one of them with straw after putting catch pans below them. The other one still needs topped off with soil before I mulch it with straw.

Then planted one of the remaining tomato plants on the back shelves into a grow bag I had partially filled with soil and got it watered in:

IMG_3806 copy.jpg

It was looking pretty sad ... but popped right back after a couple of hours.

Need to get the rest on the shelves watered today before they die of thirst and expire.

Found another three grow bags in the basement and brought those out.

Put another 10 gallons of water on that neglected spruce ... this time with Schultz's 20-20-20 fertilizer mixed in.

Got all the eggplant, bell peppers, and kohlrabi watered with 16oz of water each. Also hit the okra.

Ran soaker hose on all the indeterminate tomatoes on the straight trellis @ medium flow for 30 minutues.

Then ran soaker hose on pole beans and winter squash on west side of arched trellis @ the same while watching the bats.

Shut the hose off around 21:30 and came on inside.

Beyond the above I have a couple of bills I need to get scheduled for payment today.

Then continue on with the never-ending "laundry list" ... ;)

Hope everyone is having a decent Tuesday ... (y)

North Bay/Powassan trip done and dusted. An uneventful trip. Seen one cop doing the radar thing, but at 10 ovr thee limit he didn't even blink.Got the dope at the dope store that I ordered after hours on Saturday. I only ran out of one pill and as soon as I got home I took it. For all the good it'll do.
Grace Slick & Jefferson Airplane had the right idea.

made my run to town, got more deck clips, 4 more trex 8 footers, lunch at mission bbq, picked up pharmacy items.
When I got home, moved the AC material to the barn for now, so more barn tetris blocks added.

Got another batch of iced tea brewing.

Got plants on back shelves watered.

Woman requested wood chips be placed behind the screened compost I dumped up at the shop … so 3 bucket loads there.

(She didn’t want plant under the drip line or right next to the block)

Brought down a bucket of screened compost after that, got enough blended with peat moss to fill the last 3 grow bags.

Sun was out so I moved operations over to west side in the shade.

Stopped along the way and got the Small Sugar pumpkin placed in a sling.

Moved last 3 arbs over in the dump cart with the Cub from the patio.

Currently mixing up peat and screened compost to plant the first one.

Pleasant sitting in the shade with a nice breeze.

Thanks Dennis. About three feet away, Iphone nailed it, fun to watch hummingbirds and butterflies right out my kitchen window.

my repair job on the rv was barely ok, I need a second finish coat on the caulk.
but sure better than it was. This would have been so much easier if it was real wood.
This is plastic fluff covered in a thin vinyl wrap.
I caulked the floor area with clear silicone, so if ever another leak, shouldn't wick up the bottom
of the trim pieces, as it did last time.

need to let this harden, wipe with damp cloth, and do a finish coat.
had to get down on floor and so contorted had a hard time getting up again.
put some caulk in the door hinge holes and reinstalled the bathroom door, it fits nicely.
