Good Morning
72°, 96% RH. High overcast, with sun peaking through. Forecast high of 90 and chance of a passing shower.
We got about 1/3” of rain yesterday in several showers.

Yesterday started with the airport authority manager (that’s also an old friend) stopping by early with checks for me to sign. We had a nice chat over tea in the shop. After he left, I started back to cleaning up in the shop and trying to find new homes for various “stuff” like these table legs.

A neighbor came over with a shaft off his mower to see if I could cut a new key way in it to keep him going until a new one arrived. The original one that is wallowed out is 180° from this new one. He also left with the table legs…..

Next on the agenda was to pull out the gear we will need for Saturday’s show. This one we have to provide the PA and lights as well as the sound engineer.
Thats a lot of stuff to move and set up for a batch of septuagenarians. It doesn’t make it any easier that we lost our longtime friend and drummer Monday afternoon. His understudy is easily up to the task, but he will be missed. He also oversaw the setup of the lighting.
We have a couple of youngsters to help move and setup the equipment, they are both engineers in their day jobs, be interesting to see how it goes.

I also had to do some setup on the mixer as we will be using stage monitors rather than in ears, nothing like lots of configuration changes to make sound check interesting.
Because of all that, we are starting early, and I’ll miss Drew’s tree party.

No outside work today, I’ll continue setting up and staging gear for Saturday.

The son of one of my wife’s old coworkers is coming after to lunch to review and prepare for his Private Pilot check ride.
The goal is to make sure that he has all of the boxes checked and requirements fulfilled before he meets with the examiner (possibly my oldest son). That will take a while, there’s lots of boxes to check. It’s surprising how many applicants are not qualified to take the test due to missing one of them.
After we confirm his eligibility, we will go over the knowledge areas. This is helpful to me, as it keeps the information fresh, and we look up what neither of us know….

After that, our sound engineer is stopping by to review the changes I made to the mixer setup and routing, so he can minimize his surprises at sound check

That should take me to dinner and the recliner….

Although we only have copper bellied water snakes and garders, I am not a huge fan of them. I have found that they don't care for short grass. Copper bellied and garder snakes are cousins. The water snake is the nastier cousin, but it has as many teeth as I do. None. Maybe tomorrow after I cut the grass I'll open up the dug well and fish out the ones that are in there.
We are expecting upwards of 3.14" of rain tomorrow, too.
It is surprising the number of critters that will live in a dug well. Especially the old ones with laid up stone walls. Mine made from dry well tiles has several snakes lizards and mud puppies at different times.

timber!
totally rotted woodpecker tree, brought down this morning by pro, since I told neighbor in partial jest a whole bunch of high net worth guys would be working under his dead tree on Saturday...he laughed, knew exactly what I meant, and as promised got that tree out.
I knew it would drop on my lawn, and would explode when it hit. What a mess for the guy to pick up, but he has to get it off my property for sure.
have enough problems finding where to dump my own stuff.

Morning all, 76 going to 93 and possible rain later.
1/4" rain and lots of thunder. Heard person got killed by lightning at an archery range over in NJ and 13 people injured. My old coworker lost his son to lightning, I take it seriously.

Back to the day job,

Be well

Thats giving me nightmares for my upcoming adventure this weekend. Gotta bathe both my German Shedder, and a Siberian Husky.

It's gonna be sheddageddon x2

I wonder if they will allow me to blow them off afterwards with compressed air

Cody looks happy
looking for a nice skunk to tangle with.....

no joy on the speaker adapter on car, must be a different Lexus model.
will try again

need to order some more Makita batteries.
don't have a second set for chain saw; going through
same mental dance of oem for three times the price and/or higher AH.
My 8AH clone is now two years old and charges to 100% so think I might get another of them.
I use the big battery on my leaf blower which is a current hog. Chain saw same thing with two batteries.

greased tip of saw chain, ran it around a few times, tight but slippery.
remember, family channel... ;)

getting warmer and stickier out

79F, humid, breezy, and mostly cloudy @ 10:45, calling for a high of 83F. Looks like we'll have a good amount of cloud cover for the day.

Humidity will drop later today as the cool front comes through.

Coffee tasting good.

Got another couple of shots on clearing the west side in yesterday when the sun came out, along with more clean up in the basement. With the rain it was starting to get pretty sloppy motoring around back there.

Will need to dry out some before I can do the final grading and get grass seed put down.

Moved a fallen log off the neighbor's lawn while I was at it so he could mow. May have more to do there, need to check with him.

Worked on pushing the brush piled up at the compost/woodlot into a tighter pile in preparation for burning it.

Took Amazon package over to new neighbor's which was mistakenly delivered here.

Another zucchini and yellow straight harvested last night before I knocked off.

Just took a shot at a groundhog that was out back. He scampered into his burrow, not clear if he caught any of the shot. No issues with firing ... and no window frames were harmed in the process ...

Some possibilities for today's agenda:

More cultivating/weeding/mulching around the blueberries/rhubarb/beans.

Drive in 3 t posts for the last cattle panel and get that put up. Also have a partial section of goat panel that can be put up.

Need to cut more bamboo stakes for peppers.

Need to cut some 10' lengths of 1/2" rebar in half for the pole bean trellis and get those put in.

Refill the 1 glyphosate sprayer that is empty.

Spray peach trees.

Refill bird feeders.

Beyond that see what else comes up.

Hope everyone is having a decent Thursday ... (y)
