We have a Yukon coal burning stove in the basement that can heat the whole house. It will also burn wood and oil. It has a handle to insert to shake down the ash grates. Burned coal in it and found out wife was allergic to it so had to stop
Burned wood for many years in it but currently only using on oil as supplement heat on very cold days.
Using the oil firing ignites the wood or coal bed when used that way which is neat

Ma and Pa had one like that until insurance wouldn't cover it.

All this talk of tires, I'm replacing 4 on the camper tomorrow.

Ken, the best part of that old alternator was it could be swapped out in about 15 minutes. Nowadays it takes longer than that to remove the plastic to see how much other junk has to be removed to replace the part you're after.
I did 4 goodyear camper tires last year around $750, or $180 per tire installed.

I remember my grandfather's first gen washing machine in the basement]
with the manual wringer to the side over a tub with drain. Wooden handle on the wringer, probably
very familiar to some of you
always trying to get a sibling to put their fingers in there...
our first washer, the wringer would pivot. first rinse from washer to 1st tub, then pivot the wringer 90 deg and go from tub 1 to tub 2 for final rinse, then pivot another 90 deg to wring out into a basket. Was just down in the basement where it sat, and just thought about it.
