gps worked on car today. I'm sure they will write me off as problem not found
That 5 series BMW I had came with factory GPS, but BMW wanted a small fortune for updates. The Promaster came with it, too, but I've been just using Google Maps on the iPhone through CarPlay. That works OK, except the infotainment system has a bad habit of blanking out and resetting itself every few hours. RAM dealer has applied several updates to it, which seems to have helped a little bit, but it's still not right. I have an ancient Garmin GPS for the bikes, but updates for it take a while to download and have grown so large they no longer fit into the available memory. Anyway, have you tried just using map software on your phone?

Afternoon all!
Currently 21 and sunny heading to -8 tonight. Glad I got the stove cleaned. Will surely need it.
Storm ended up dropping about an inch of frozen, heavy mess. Very hard to clean up!
Headed to the shop after to relax. Made a quick pen out of the burl I got.

Tomorrow is sister in laws birthday. We will head to the wife's parents for dinner and cake. Not much else planned other than that.
Hopefully heading to the upper 30's next week.
Nap time calling! Need thumbs and wrist to recoup also.
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

I’ll use paper maps before I’ll pay extra for the car version.
I use my phone, with car play. Sometimes it just cuts out.
Maybe I should go back to the garmin, it can’t give out where I am.

Bigger issue is the apps learning where I go, and they sell that data. It knows where I live. It asked me Friday if I was going to the restaurant I go to about every Friday or sat. Then it said, here’s your normal route, instead of the shortest and quickest it used to suggest. It knows where I get gas.

Sure you’ve seen how onstar been selling your driving history.

Good Afternoon,
Phil, beautiful job on the pen, love the burl !

I finished painting the cellar entry way and hung all of Kathleen’s pots, pans and covers and lids on the wall going down the cellar stairs ! Looks so much better in fresh white paint ! Managed not to make too much of a mess with the paint ! 😉😀

Out to dinner again with our sons and DIL’s !

Hope all have a good evening ! Temp is dropping like a stone ! 🥲

Good Saturday Afternoon to the GM thread!

I'm glad to report that my friend is recovering at home. He is walking and we spent about 30 minutes talking. He said the Docs have told him it would be about 4 months before he could say he was 'recovered'. A very lucky guy. One thing that really sticks out. The medical problem that started all this was serious but that was dealt with by a competent surgeon and should have resulted in a month of recovery at most aftr the surgery. The complications arose from infections that he got while in the hospital. This seems to be a problem I hear more about all the time.

So, we are at 66°F this afternoon. Bright sunny day with only occasional slight breezes. I better put out the flags!

I also need to do some trimmimg and a little yard clean up. Hope everyone has a great afternoon and weekend!

Prayers for our Nation!
Great new indeed. (y)

Restless sleep last night so bundle up outside 4am start 6" snow clean up,than off to part store 4 hours.
Decided this afternoon to clean all the roofs since another 2-4 inches coming late Sunday, than dozy of mix rain snow Monday late afternoon. 🙄

Plans for the evening just going to numb it watch movie until eye lids start closing.

Enjoy your evening all.

Scott, your wife could start a restaurant with all those pans.
probably doesn't like to throw the old ones out...
while some folks swear by seasoned cast iron, I try to find the nonstick du jour that
has least toxic coating.

RNG, I'm pretty dysfunctional using a smart phone.
however....I do have a brand new Ipad I could use and that could run Google maps which
I prefer. Primarily because it's easy to plan your drive by dragging the route around if needed.
some software you can just pick this route or that route.
nav on car is at least a gen old, not very impressive or intuitive, often seems to lock up.
So I might try using the Ipad. I know I can get a mount for that.

made appt online to have car taken into shop next wednesday.

finally went back and read warranty fine print. Hoses not covered.
BUT replacement of coolant covered if accompanied by breakdown.
bingo
plus they owe 100 of my 125 tow
I could double dip on the tow claim but old insurance underwriters would suffer
an unpleasant burning hell forever if they did that...

decided on Powerstop ceramic brake pads, with clips and ordered them through Amazon.
they had very good reviews and I googled Powerstop and checked out the company. Seemed to be all good.
Thanks Frits.
brake pads will be installed when truck goes to rv mechanic who said he would be glad to work on my car.
Helps that his wife drives an expedition... He is less than half the price of everyone else, doesn't care where I get parts,
no fake fees, just good honest work. Worth the drive though I do try to support the local guy.
Rv guy is a truck fleet maintenance person and sure knows brake jobs.

didn't get much accomplished today
