Serpentine belts can cause a lot of damage. The oneway coupling on the alternator failed and shredded a belt. I replaced belts idlers, tensioners and alternator coupling. One of the idler shafts was on a bracket sandwiched in between the alternator and engine and I did not change that but that caused the belt to track off center and fail again. Hard to imagine the force that a belt can generate

I’m not sure that I’d be happy with a heater of any description that could not reach my set point, just sayin….
I’ve done many a service call for that complaint.

I still know what a watch is, but rarely have to reference one any more.
I do need to figure this out sometime.
The upstairs unit i just replaced with a new unit, but old stock. The basement unit is as old as the one that already failed with leaking condenser, so maybe it also has leaked some. After what the last guy charged me just to come and run a sniffer and evac the unit, I could have bought a sniffer.

Temps dropping fast, this will probably be the coldest night, but have to hit 0 to be a record low.
Glad the mailbox alarm is now working again.
My computer crashed while I was working on a spreadsheet. lost a few minutes of work. A soon as it rebooted, made new backups. computer has 2 SSD drives, and I back up to a mini drive, and then backed up pictures to an external SSD drive. It got hot writing to it.

Good (Wednesday) morning. Overnight Low of 16.1C and it's presently 21.4C, mostly cloudy with a strong breeze.

PO Box had a letter that wasn't the concession card <sigh>, but at least I had 'Hollywood parking' outside of the PO.

Changed the batteries and synched my La Crosse WS-9029U-IT weather-station. I reckon it's over 20yo and still going strong... they don't make them anymore but all I want is to know what the outside temperature is. I employ a manual rain gauge situated on a corner post of Paddock #5... well away from any tree or obstruction.

It's 'into town' day for groceries.

That's about it, take care all.

what I didn't mention is service mgr, who was excellent, said there was a lengthy procedure tech had to follow, warming up, running, topping off, etc.
but for sure not rocket science. But then something mentioned about having problems getting it all flushed/air out?
I saw the truck go up and down on the lift at least four times.
I knew that wasn't right...will be fun to check codes again and see if trans got unhappy.
this was just preventative maintenance on a first year 1080R 10 speed trans, which the youtube car mechanics all say needs its fluid changed way before 100k. Trans starts to slip, have issues. So I was trying to get ahead of the curve. I asked about the filter. Apparently they never change that, oh it's internal. Well you do have to drop the pan but? I see them change them out online.
I guess if I maintain my equipment too well it won't break and then they have no work, right?...

I know I technically don't have to do the differentials either. But I want to do them before they break, so they won't break, hopefully.
not afterwards....and I'm a third owner, who knows what abuse this truck has had. While they are mucking around down there, am hoping they check
everything over carefully. You want to replace something? you bet, here's the warranty.
No clue about your Ford, but my RAM's have not had a fluid dip stick for quite awhile.
Just to check the level the truck had to be level, warmed up to a certain temp and a level plug removed, there were several steps involved. It really irked me but my "15" did 90,000 plus and never got checked, this "19" is at a bit over 50,000 and has never been checked. I have worried about them a few times.

Good Morning,
Ct, 10 to start going to 22 ! We got about 4” of the white stuff, but since it was warm when it started snowing there is slush under the snow so I’m thinking that I better get out there fairly soon before the slush turns to ice!

Should be an interesting inauguration this morning !

Hope all have a good start to their week ! 🙏

morning , 17 going down to 6 tonight, guess about 4" snow.
Off to plow, check in later.
All these low single digit and low doubles makes me thankful to be where I am in Texas with just sightly below freexing temps and about 2" of dry fluffy snow that melted by noon.

Everyone stay safe in the next couple days and I hope we all stay warm, well fed and comfortable! Prayers for our neighbors and our Nation!

Compared to last night it is going to be warm tonight. -4°F.
I always say it has got to be warm to snow and tomorrow the high will be 10F and periods of light snow.
I might have to fill my oil tank for the furnace tomorrow. I've got lots in the big tank. It is just under 3/4 full. The house tank is only 200 gallons, where the big tank is 500 gallons.
I am looking for an electric gauge that I can rig up so I don't have to go out in the deep cold to check on the house tank.
I'll start looking for that in the morning, right now it is bedtime.
G'night all

Good evening all. 15ºF for the start, partly cloudy sky, breezy. Moderate wind, partly cloudy sky, and high temp for day was 32ºF. Made coffee to start day, made oatmeal for breakfast, stoked fire in insert, groomed ashes and remove most of them. Worked on thank you notes, puttered watched inauguration. No bike ride or nap.
