good morning all
a very chilly 17 out now going up to 40 in sunshine today.
I looked outside and everything coated with a thin layer of snow.

I would say I'll just use the Makita blower on it but yesterday was quite an eye opener for battery power.
It was 20 inside garage, so all batteries and equipment that cold. Chain saw would run for five seconds and stop.
Took forever to cut one small stump. Put batteries back on charger, charger immediately turned off.
very clear these lithium batteries don't like cold weather.
Even the fence guys had to wait for the batteries to charge up more, their cordless chain saw didn't work either.
We've heard about this on EV cars for a long time, just never hit home on my cordless tools.

no plans for today other than coffee with landlady later this morning, she has a huge fireplace she doesn't use very often but
promised there would be a nice fire for us. We enjoy each other's company. And her two sons are very nice to me. Most likely because
I'm very nice to their mother. She's going through chemo at 81 and needs all the positive support she can get.

looks like the snowblower will get some use, 4 inches of snow predicted for Sunday night. it's time we got some...
hope you all have a good day

Good morning, the low is 11 and going to a high of 26°F. Wind N 6 mph. 40% chance of flurries today. Snow beginning late this afternoon and overnight.

It looks like tonight and tomorrow we could get dumped on. An Alberta clipper is passing Thunder Bay now. It is tracking over the north shore of Lake Superior and across the lake. Superior is not frozen yet. We could get a good dump, instead of this fuel wasting 3 and 4".

Block heater is turned on for the Kioti. I'll get out about 10:30, warm up for 1/2 hour and start plowing about 11.

One of the neighbours has a ?smart car? Not very practical for our neck of the woods. Not enough ground clearance for the winter, but she claims she gets 70 miles per gallon. It looks like a covered, pregnant skateboard with wheels. She seems to be very happy with it. This is the same neighbour that while going down the snow covered road, her cell phone rang and she reached for it and promptly ran into the ditch (she had a 1979 Ford pickup w/8' box). She called me to pull her out and all I had then was the Jeep. I went to pull her out and she left it in 'P' park and expected me to pull her. I told her to call a tow truck, that I didn't have a big enough vehicle. She also got off my driveway and again wanted me to pull her out with it still in park. I put my D-I-L in her pickup then, because although the DIL only had a UK license I knew that if I told her to put it in 'N' neutral that she would do it.

Time for breakfast and prepare for plowing.

Have a safe day all

22 going to 45. Got a little snow flurry action yesterday.

Sorry about the high bills. I have heard that exporting LNG, will keep gas prices up or even higher.
I want some new nuclear plants here in Texas. The kind that works when the sun don't shine, or the wind don't blow, or if the natural gas supply lines that aren't winterized freeze over.
Recently a new nuclear plant was announced to be built south of Richmond...it will be the first commercial scale plant in the world to use fusion to produce electricity...enough to supply 150,000 homes. Supposed to be safe and clean due to fusion instead of fission.

Buppies, Happy Anniversary!

Did a lot of cleaning out of my shed and a couple of rooms yesterday, so did a big dump run. Also kept some things for the donation run my wife is doing today. Stopped at the park on the way home, and since no one there, Della had a good time running free. I found the trails to be at their iciest so far, but only on the north facing slopes.

We may have a delayed total-family Christmas gathering this weekend, but the snow forecast has a couple of out of towners watching the forecast, and may have to cancel again. If we reschedule, I told my wife I'm fine with keeping the Christmas decorations up until February 😁. She said no way. This is the second year in a row we've had multiple reschedules due to illness and weather...I guess Christmas in July may be the answer.

Good Morning!!!! 40F @ 4:00AM. Sunny to partly cloudy. High 61F. S winds shifting to WNW at 10 to 15 mph.

The weather guessers have posted freeze warnings for the past few nights. We're right on the edge of the effected area, and I figure if it hasn't frozen yet this morning, it's not going to.

Stopped and got insurance for the motorcycle my buddy is gifting me. I'm stoked about getting it. They wanted about $200/year just for liability, but full coverage was $367 if I paid in full for the year, so I got the full coverage. Not a big fan of the brand of insurance, but not many underwrite motorcycles.
I've had coverage, and accident experience, with Markel for many years now, Kyle. Sounds like they maybe could save you some: 800.446.6671

New friend of mine down here gave me a cast iron/enamelled kitchen sink a while back, and yesterday I got started refurbishing it. Darn thing must weigh fifty pounds, and I ended up winching it up onto the table that surrounds the BBQ pit in the back yard. Took a rotary wire brush to the underside to knock off some light rust, then gave it a coat of Rustoleum. Half way through the can the nozzle clogged, par for the course for that brand. I can't complain, though, as the previous owners of this place left several dozen cans of the stuff, most of it in colors you'd never use if you ever had to look at it. So I had plenty of other cans to steal a nozzle from and got a nice coat on most of it. Anyway, gonna let it dry for a couple days, then early next week will get out the polisher and try to get a shine on the top side.

TGIF gang!

good morning, 26 going to 40 today, 1 inch of snow overnight

Put a few pieces of wood in the stove and it went on fire right away
started the oil furnace for when wife gets up

Picked up the van that had been left at the mechanic after the alternator replacement. Looks like the interior lights issue may be the Body Control Module which is a mini computer that controls wiring and lights. In the old days there was a power wire and ground wire to whatever needs power but no more on newer cars

31 outside this AM, heading to mid 40's. Wild temperature swings. Next week supposed to get into the single digits.

More domestic stuff and paper work on the agenda today. Got another monkey wrench thrown at me with my Dad's estate. The lawyers are costing me serious money now. Just wow, what a mess. Do everything possible to avoid probate.

Ran some errands yesterday but did not score on my favorite brew. So today I will head out in a different direction. It is five dolla sushi at my favorite store, so it might work out.

You all may recall my worries with power lines. A neighboring county is the data center capital of the world. Now the immediate areas are under stress for supplying that power. Of interest was a ROW the power company wanted to expand. They have one set of 100 foot tall towers on the ROW. They "planned" on adding another. We attended various meetings where some serious questions were being asked. We followed their informational blurbs and communications. Somewhere during the project the expansion of the ROW turned into a whole different ROW. More meetings and communications. After about a year we start to see activity on the existing ROW. Now, literally, they are raising the 100 foot towers to accommodate the new lines. Yes, raising, as in expanding up, the towers, by like 20 feet. Where this was communicated as an option is unknown to me. The transparency of this whole project leaves much to be desired. You may think you know what is going on, but commercial interests will skip the individual, IMHO. And those data centers? There are over 30 currently under development, yes, 30, (thirty). My fellow Virginias and I will pay for them in our electric bills, unless some changes in legislature is made.

Hope all have a good start to the weekend. Be safe.
