Did get my new transfer switch installed. Didn’t get the autostart configured and some tweaking to do. Have some excess length of wire I really hate to cut, but not sure I can pull it back and definitely not enough room in new box.

Rethinking my gate camera. Tempted to put the S230 on my tractor in place of the S340 as the additional capability could be more useful at gate. I originally wanted to get a S340 for gate but refused to pay full price. The S340 on tractor was the bargain one.

The s230 will suffice on tractor as I still turn and look back. I’m still not good using the rear camera in vehicles.

Mostly, those were 2 bobcats.

Electric sure has gone up.
First several years in this house, my Yearly electric bill was under $1000 a year. 1998, my first full year in the house, electric was $697. Last year it went over $3000. When first built, heated with fuel oil, and now it's electric with the geothermal. But, even when I first put in geothermal it was around $1600 a year...
First several years also didn't have the garage, and even after it was built, did not do anything to the upstairs for several years (no heat/ac).

Just started watching R&R builders on Youtube start a new post frame house build. If you watch his work, it is very energy efficient. This one, he calls a modest house (32x56) with 36x48 garage. Only issues I've noticed so far, garage is 1 step down from house floor level, and porches will be a step down.

We are still kicking around what to do long term in retirement, move or stay here. I would like to build a very energy efficient house, smaller than what I have, on one level, wheelchair accessible. Not sure if southern PA would be any better tax wise than MD.

If we stay here, would like to build detached garage, then convert existing garage into master bed/bath, and probably remove a bath from upstairs. Because of septic / bedroom allowed, will convert our existing bedroom upstairs to a large storage room or something.

I bought a 3rd S340 on cyber monday sale, came right before christmas. I have not installed it anywhere yet. Probably will install at the farm.

Coffee is done brewing. 15° with clouds and light snow this morning. Heading to 32° with mostly cloudy skies. Dentist appointment went good. Got me another appointment in July. With sun out want out to pole barn and got wiring straighten out on tractor flood lights. Now have lights that make snow plowing in the dark easier. Grocery shopping this morning. Then will get tractor out and cleanup walkways and driveway. Also need to cleanup shop from pole barn from tools used for latest projects.
The Chase.

Buckeye, that's double what I pay for electricity each year.

Everyone stay well and safe.

Good Morning All.

Morning all!
Currently temp is sitting at 8 above zero. Staying cold all day with partly cloudy skies.

Insurance co has decided the car is totaled. Now we need to wait for price and removal. No luck so far on key replacement. Going to try the dealer we bought it from this afternoon as it needs to go back for a broken mirror replacement. Was on order when we bought.

Wife is coming down with a chest and throat cold. Will need to hide out in the shop more!

Not much else going on.(I like that!)
Did get quite a few hours in the shop already. Pics to follow.
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy! And warm!

if wood was chocolate those bowls look delicious...so pretty.
good morning all
cold morning, not getting above freezing today but clear.
fence company installing fence this morning including using concrete in post holes.

is there anything they should be adding due to cold? Cover the tops?

cars have always been a hobby for me and always placed a high
priority on tires. Biggest concern is hydroplaning in bad storm.
While I want quiet tires, I also need an open tread because the tires are so big
without an open tread and a lot of siping, wet weather and winter traction would be terrible.
Lou figured out my 22s are "32s" in height.
yes I would like to go down to 18s, but that means buying new wheels and I don't want
something that shouts "aftermarket". The appropriate size for this truck are 20s.
GM is now offering 24s. Maybe a nice idea in South LA but not here on our potholed roads.
like most things a tradeoff, if I want the nicest model with the tech, I'm stuck with these gaudy giant wheels.
I found them online, 550 dollars a piece.
have to be careful with the details, the wheel offsets, screw up steering geometry or get bad tire wear.

first pics of new Corvette ZR-1 are out, showing carbon fiber wheels.
first big pothole here would wreck the car
just because they sell it sure doesn't mean it makes sense for most of us.

Good Morning from Central Texas.
5am 38 degrees. Headed to mid 60's until early next week, then around 40 for a high with a chance of snow ?
Installed (3) X-Sense Smoke / Carbon Monoxide Detectors (Amazon sale) after a family member had a serious issue in their home. Upon hearing this and mentioning to a couple friends, then heard more stories about people having issues ! So, since my smoke alarms were 10+ years old and kaput anyway.... They seem to be quality units and much cheaper than the Kiddie units which were $$$$.

I decided a couple years ago to join the American Legion. All in all it was a good decision, but our Post is fading fast. Cannot seem to get new membership. Too many "super old" guys and no new blood. Cannot figure out how to attract new members and it is sad to think that the post may have to close in the not too distant future.
Wishing all a good day.

15 heading to 41, and the NWS says a chance of snow today.

Phil those are real interesting. In what did you embed the rock pieces? I have an Osage orange duck call, my favorite.

BEF, sorry your electric bill is so high. Rates have skyrocketed in much of the PJM grid due to retirement of coal and gas plants, reducing overall capacity, and the shift to solar rather than natural gas to add new capacity. Plus, as Rip testified, many new data centers adding demand. Rates are projected to have an even more significant increase this year. Next bill may be even higher since we've had a near record stretch of below normal temps to start the year. But as Buppies says, and I agree, cold is good for the soul.

Good Morning,
Ct, 14 to start going to 30 maybe if we get enough sun !

Dennis, our electric bill was right up there this month which was a bit of a surprise after the two previous months being right around $200 ! But Kathleen had the grands sleep over and turned the electric baseboard heat on in the room that the mini split really doesn’t heat that room !
Fortunately she pays that bill ! 😉

Work today so I better get cracking!
Hope all have a good day ! 🙏
