Good morning!!!!

Good morning TBN!!
20 this morning and like yesterday we won't make 40. I do hope the wind lays down today though.
Not much yesterday. We may get some snow tonight so we decided to fill both vehicles with gas and got 3 cans of diesel. When heading to the shop, just for kicks I stopped at the tractor. It is stored outside and it was 28 degrees. Hasn't been started in at least week probably closer to 2 or even longer. Old interstate battery. I mean old. Been in the tractor at least 7 years and in a boat before that. I really didn't expect it to crank. It not only cranked but it started up after a moment. Pleasantly surprised I let it warm for 20 minutes and shut it off.
Not sure what I will get into today but I am sure it will involve dog walking :)

Everyone have a great and safe day!!

Good morning, the low is 10 and going to a high of 12°F. Wind NNW 7 mph. Partly sunny. No precipitation forecast.

The tractor block heater is turned on. I will go out about noon and fire her up. Probably do everybody else and then think about doing this place. There is 6" on the deck railing, and that is generally how much I want to see before I plow.
I have one driveway that has 3/4" clear stone on it. That is the one I worry about tearing up, so I try to pack the snow into the stone thoroughly before I turn the blade (> to cut.
My driveway is all pit run or as you guys say bank run. If it was run through a crusher it would make good Granular 'A' or 'A' minus. The other two are just dirt that has been driven on for the past 60 years. The one I just picked up for a week, his snowblower is broken, and it was just paved this past summer, so I am a bit skittish about using the bucket on that. The last time I plowed him I turned the BB )> and scraped him down to the asphalt, but it was warmer then 28°F.

I didn't get to bed until 1 A.M. so I will probably go back to bed for a power nap after breakfast.

You guys getting the cooler than normal weather try to stay warm.

Have a safe day all

Morning all!
Looks to be a cold week ahead!
weathertoday.jpg

Pretty much have just been keeping things warm here. Pellet stove insert needs feeding and cleaning quite frequently in this weather.
Changed out the circuit board in the woodshop pellet stove and it seems to be running much better.

Had another issue with the apartment house running out of fuel. 5 times since the new tank was installed. Company came out and removed the suction pipe from the tank and found out it was 9 inches to short!! New one is installed at the correct length.

Fighting with the insurance co. to try and get someone to look at the damaged car. Most of them are all off for the week with the holiday being on a Wednesday! They finally sent me an app were I could take pictures myself and upload them to their main office. Hopefully that will speed up the process! We need to start looking for a replacement before he loses his job.

Nothing much done in the shop. Still moving things around in preparation for the new lathe.
Did play with my new texturing tool to try and get the feel for it. I need to use a lighter touch.

Looks like the storm will be passing way south of us. Hopefully everyone in it's path will be alright!
That's it for now I guess.
Hope everyone stays safe (warm)and healthy!

good morning, 18 going to 31 cold for this area, winter storm on the way. Could be a few inches or a lot more depending how the front behaves

Tried to hook up the V plow to the RTV yesterday but plow would not energize. The handheld controller is not turning on. Fuse is ok, power to the terminal at the controller OK so what now? Controller looks to be a 350 dollar item so pays to spend a little more time on this today. It may be the turn on switch on the controller so will take it apart and bypass it next

Mechanic confirmed the alternator needs to be replaced. A little involved since the second AC compressor needs to be removed for access and 2 serpentine belts as well

Plan to mount the big plow on the tractor today just in case and look for snow shovels, salt etc extra firewood

But to keep the feet warm got winter socks delivered yesterday

Good Morning from Central Texas. Stepped out the door to 70 degrees at 4am with pretty stiff winds. A front moving in today, tomorrow's high forecast 45. Need to cover a few faucets today, otherwise no outdoor work.

Northrup Grumman has delivered the first SiAW missile for USAF testing. The "Stand-in Attack Weapon" : Designed to counter mobile threats, the SiAW aims to enhance the Air Force’s strike capabilities against relocatable targets such as cruise missile launchers, anti-ship missile platforms, and electronic warfare systems.

13 outside right now, heading to upper 30's. Nice and sunny, clear sky so far. Weather reports and NWS warnings of serious snow late this afternoon into Monday.

Late start this AM, there was a party up the road, maybe a mile and a half, the low bass beat was under my skin most of the night. Yeah, it was that loud.

Took not my dog for a long hike in the back forty yesterday, more of the same today. We are looking for Mr. Beaver once again as he is active in "the wrong place" according to me. Also managed to get the christmas lights off the house, including the roof fascia! Took all of ten minutes in bitter winds and downright cold air. My tree branch pruning pole with a modified end (no saw) gets the string off the high roof fascia hook and down they come. If I have a steady hand. LOL.

Hope all have a good day, be safe if you have to deal with the weather.

Frits, we are on the same page, I ordered a pair of wool socks too, will be here tomorrow.

unfortunately I cannot be trusted with Popgadget's wife's alpaca socks, since everything goes in the wash and
trying to remember the socks in there will never work. And boy those socks do not like a hot drier.
otherwise they are absolute heaven, like a layer of air under your feet.
I gave the one pair I shrunk to my SIL and she really liked them.

hope you get your plow fixed Frits.
reminds me I need to run the generator today, give it a little exercise.
now forecast shows five inches of snow next Saturday.
guess I'd better run the snowblower too
I carefully charged the EFI battery so it should start and run fine.
end of winter I'm going to drain the gas out and run it in lawnmower this summer.

well I can see a little blue sky out there. That will motivate me to get moving and get outside.
hopefully with less wind. One of the new bird feeders I got takes the large seed cakes like Ron uses
and I'm curious to see if anyone has pecked at it. I also put up cheap suet cakes whose only benefit appears to be
low price, like a buck apiece. But the birds don't seem to like them. Maybe the peanut butter in these will be
more to their liking.

filled up the birdbath yesterday using watering can, the heater in it has worked very well but it does
speed up water evaporation. So every couple of days in freezing weather I fill it up. Once temps warm, there is usually plenty
of water in local ditch for them to play in.

Good Morning
24° with a high of 30 forecast for today. High overcast, snow forecast overnight and tomorrow.

Son was flying RC in snow showers, the lights helped keep the plane in sight.

I noticed Zoe was looking for a place to bury her bone the other day when we were in the shop, but didn’t pay much attention to where she decided to bury it. Yesterday when we were getting ready to play I found it. Not obvious, but I plain sight.

On my service call yesterday, the door that I needed to access had this sign on it. I parked in front of the door….

IMG_5918.jpg

I think that today I’m going to do some cutting and welding, as well as tinker with the recordings from the last two sessions. Of course, there might be a pop up task or service call to disrupt my lack of real plans.
