rsw, I damaged Acetylene regulators using too large rosebuds. The internals don't like acetone being drawn up with the flow.

That’s definitely not good.

The largest welding bottles can have larger flows. Mine are half size.

My rosebud is a smaller one - either a No. 4 or a No. 6 IIRC … and I always set the regs according to the manufacturer’s chart for the torch.

69°F and .66 inches rain

Not looking too good for my plans to finish mowing. Two sections to go.

Yea, the moon was a sight last night 🤙

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Some info on the withdraw rate for accetylene

The 1/7th rule has been the standard for many years, but was updated to 1/10th to further minimize the withdrawal of liquid solvent (see Compressed Gas Association G.1 5.3.3.13):

To minimize the withdrawal of liquid solvent, acetylene should be withdrawn from the cylinder at a rate not to exceed one-tenth (1/10) of the capacity of the cylinder per hour during intermittent use. For full withdrawal of the contents of the cylinder on a continuous basis, the flow rate should be no more than one-fifteenth (1/15) of the capacity of the cylinder per hour.
It’s very important to follow this rule of thumb in order to safely withdraw acetylene from the cylinder. If the flow rate exceeds the recommended flow rate, you’ll start to pull acetone through which can cause the acetylene to reduce. If acetylene reduction occurs, this can cause the acetylene to become very unstable and potentially explosive. Additionally, acetone damages plastic and rubber, so it can damage torches, regulators and the hose used to dispense the gas if the solvent passes through.

I got out of bed last night just to see the moon. Ron's picture was superior, just can't do it with a phone.
94 deg, had a good breakfast with the usual gang, including the one with the broken leg/ankle. He hopped in with a walker, but says his little knee scooter should come soon. he has to be off the leg for 4 more weeks at least, but they say it's healing good. They had inserted all kinds of pins in him, with an external bracket to hold everything in place. this week he got rid of the external brace, and they did surgery to remove all the external support pins. He has a plate and pins that stay inside.

Sermon ready for tomorrow, as I'm filling in for him.

Too hot to do any work.

Good morning! Low of 58°, heading towards 82°. Cloud cover remains heavy, a brief downpour last night put an 1/8" in the gauge. A few intermittent sprinkles so far this morning. Maybe a t-storm this afternoon. Enjoying the cooler, moist weather for sure!

A little piddling yesterday, waiting for the forecasted rain, which never happened. Apparently, today will be another day of the same.

A tree branch came down yesterday, a couple days after the storm.... it was hanging by a small strip of bark. Wifey noticed it from the porch. Wasn't there before during the damage assessment.
When I took that one off, a branch in the opposite direction, coming off the same spot, cracked and tore about 6" of bark off. A weird "Y", with a small 1/4" dead branch in the center. A very weak joint. Hoping the tree can heal.

You guys in the high temps take care. Stay hydrated.

Have a great day!

Afternoon all!
Temps dropped down to 68. Currently raining and forecast to last a while.
While the sun was out we had a few visitors today! The hummingbird was only around 3 feet away.

Worked with my cousin this morning fixing a stair railing. Replaced 4 rotten boards.
Think I'm going to sit back and enjoy the rain for a bit. Wife wants burgers on the grill tonight!
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

Scott, we use YouTube TV. Carries local stations. Carries sports channels of interest to us. Been flawless for over 5 years? now... got rid of DirecTV. Streaming apps beats satellite content carriers hands down. More choices too in steaming apps.

We also switched from Dish to Youtube TV, no regrets.
