50 going to 65. I can see the moon outside for the first time in days...glad the rain is over for today.

Buppies, sorry you're still in pain. Prayers.

Kyle, is your son gonna run today?

My wife had yoga here yesterday, and I had a few errands to run, so worked out. I needed to return a windshield wiper to Costco. Bought a pair on sale months ago to be prepared when they started streaking. While replacing them on the truck Monday, learned that one of them had been previously opened, the plastic bag with the adapters had been torn open and the adapter I needed to fit the truck had been broken. So guessing that someone broke it and had returned it to Costco without telling them. Well, I told them! Always easy returns at Costco, and the new ones were on sale again. Picked up a couple of other things and got gas while there.

good morning all
another foggy fairly warm morning
I think I got lucky with the weather, rain has just moved out and won't come back til Sat afternoon, and
I'll be back late Sat morning. The timing seems to have worked out.

I need to go put a fresh propane bottle on the greenhouse heater, will be very interesting to see if still on when I get home.
I'll be gone about 50 hours and I think I get about 45 hours to a tank. At least it's not getting below freezing
looks like everything is growing nicely in there

no reason to leave early, want to arrive just after noon and it's only a little over two hours
Once set up my friends will be stopping over to chat, either at the rv or at their home.
they already had tickets to a play tonight so I'm on my own.
Tomorrow we spend the day together and I bet she cooks me a nice dinner.

not taking the e-bike with me on this trip but will try to get the drone up in the air.
I did that last time I was here

now to water all the plants thoroughly and finish loading rv.
just taking my time.

I was thinking $10/hour, that is what MacDonald's pays here. Also, you would be housing and feeding him. Let me warn you about young men and their appetites'. If he proves to be a good worker, boost him up. I would be considering what he would be saving for. If for college? Or for girls and car stereos?
I'm surprised by a $10/hr wage rate in your area. Just goes to show how many differences exist in our same Country. In CA, minimum wage is $16/hr, but few earn that little. $20/hr to $23/hr is more common. Starting in April, $20/hr becomes the new legal minimum wage.

I will guess the $$ will go toward girls, and car wheels and stereos. College? That's what parents are for-- right? 😀

The tricky part is the family dynamic. Other family is paycheck to paycheck, but I am financially comfortable. So there is an expectation of generosity and that is OK. I've learned being a little generous is good. If too much, it gets abused. Too little and I am the grinch.

I'm still kicking it around, but it seems $20/hr, or a bit more, is going to be about right. And I pay for everything else (food etc.) The bigger deal is spending time together and exposing him to rural property. So cost is a less consideration as all I want to do is not get the wage wrong to begin with.

25F going to sunny 47F in Nevada today. Came back over Donner Summit yesterday and the roads were much improved.

Hope everyone has a good and productive day !!!

Had a nice drive yesterday through WV. Very random housing ranging from very beautiful to run down. Wife enjoyed the drive

Cleaned up the compact bender and brought it back to operational and tested it on some flat bars. Able to make curved and sharp angle bends

D had another award ceremony
She is busy as usual but leaving soon for Cartagena Colombia
Turns out it is for a wedding ceremony for a friend
She has so many friends around the world

Saw this after a long night up with my dog, out every two hours and trying "to go". I think it'll be his last. No BM in a week, and the Vet felt a bunch of masses "up in there". He would've been 13 in June and has been a great dog, but today will not be a good day...

Good Morning.
52° and a reasonably high overcast without rain, which is good. We got about an inch over the last two days, and the ground was saturated before that.

Yesterday morning I got both mower spindles rebuilt and some tools put away before the weather gods provided a window to get to Martha’s Vineyard and back. We just squeaked into the Vineyard, weather was right at minimums, copilot called out that he had the lights just as I was about to execute a missed approach. Coming back into Philly was better, about 400 feet above minimums.

Drive home from the airport was miserable, rush hour combined with the rain made it longer than the flight. By the time I got home I was ready to put my feet up and pay attention to Zoe. Nothing productive other than that.

But my next trip isn’t till the end of the month, so it’s back to puttering around here. Today will be a day of clean up and organizing now that the speakers are gone and I don’t have to go anywhere.
Maybe a Costco run, but there is nothing that I have to do, only stuff that I want to do, which is a good thing.

I can’t wait for the ground to be firm enough to pull the progressive mower around to the shop and reinstall the rear deck and put the freshened spindles back in the wing decks. Be nice to get the deck out of the shop. Be even nicer for the ground to be dry enough to work outside. I’ve got dead trees to take down, and ones that are down to clean up. And of course by then, there will be mowing to do, the manure bin is full and needs to be emptied, the list goes on, but none of it seems like work, just things to keep me busy.

Morning all, 52 going to 56 and cloudy, but see some sun.
Got taillight bulb changed out in Jeep, need to go in for inspection today.
Not much energy to do anything else.

Safe travels Drew.

Gstrom99 - hard times, wish our pets lived longer. Prayers sent

If the wind dies down I can finish painting the shelves and finish that half of the project while I decide where to put the wood shelves. Think I have a place.

Wife on antibiotics as she had not fully recovered from last virus and may have a sinus infection.

Be well,

Morning all,
Another wet dreary day here outside, low clouds fog drizzle. It has been an unusual winter, I keep waiting for March to slam us with a heck of a storm.
Going to be an interesting and aggravating day today, have to go up to another Town for Court with my wife. Damned Sheriffs deputy must have gotten up on the wrong side of the bed the other day. NY has lost the knowledge to paint a license plate so it lasts, the reflective coating had delaminated from her plates. The little ass wrote her a ticket for the plates. Then she is feeling like she is going to be lying to plead not guilty and get the ticket thrown out. It just pisses my off that he didn't give her a warning or equipment ticket for something the state didn't build correctly. Also I had mentioned to her that she should stop and get new plates previously and that was to much trouble for her to do. Of course after she got the ticket we went and got her new plates that same day and now we get to waste a half hour driving each way and sit in Town Court for who knows how long. Going to be a fun afternoon.

Everyone stay safe and healthy or get well.

Yes ... assuming that they are actually having "a kid" adjust it.

But looking at a staff photo of the shop it doesn't seem likely.

FWIW, I've had a look at several YouTubes that show the back of the machine and it seems like the valve covers should be easy to get to. The valve covers are each held on by 4 Torx bolts ... can't imagine that it could be a problem.

Other than maybe getting a torque wrench down in there to tighten things once the adjustment is complete.

I looked over the procedure for adjusting the valves in the Kohler Service Manual. Seems pretty straightforward, outside of ensuring you're at TDC on No. 1 before you start:

Did do some checking and found out that the Hydro Gear service kit for the hydros is $94.57 on Amazon:

While that's kinda pricey for 2 filters and 5 quarts of oil and some assorted tubing and fittings the total of $277 - $100 for pick up and drop off = $177 for parts and labor on the hydros doesn't seem unreasonable to me ... though I'm guessing that I will probably doing it myself next time as it looks pretty easy ... ;)
I bought the kit. found the pump thing to be about worthless to pump in the way they suggest, I think I filled the reservoir and let it drain down. remove the top fill plug so it gets air to drain down. Not too hard of a job.

Saw this after a long night up with my dog
I'm so sorry to read this. My wife and I can relate to the pain.

In late December, we had "one more night" with our loving Golden Retriever before having to put him down. Like your dog, he had terrible GI issues plus more.

It's terrible to reach the end of the line and I hope you can find some solace and healing. It is a terrible aftermath to lose a best friend. We are still very emotional about it and its been over two months.

Never easy. Had to put one down for same reason years ago.

Good Morning!!!! 50F @ 8:15AM. Cloudy skies early, then partly cloudy this afternoon. High 57F. Winds NW at 15 to 25 mph.
Picked up almost an inch of rain here yesterday, but it looks like the rest of the 10-day is clear to partly cloudy.

Got the zebra bike running with just a battery swap and some gas, but the alternator wasn't charging reliably. This from one that was replaced only a few thousand miles ago for the same issue, so now I'm wondering if there's a production problem over in Taiwan. I have other bikes I could cannibalize an alternator from, but between this and the alligator exposure, it's enough reason to cancel the campout this weekend for me. Maybe next year. Today I'll put all the parts in the saddle bags and switch back to hanging cabinets and unpacking boxes. Headed north again next week.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

63°F and 3.46 inches rain. Not done yet.

Worked on the living room gas fireplace yesterday. Added a blower, WiFi remote and replaced the control module for 2nd time. Apparently the 120 vac to 3vac transformer is bad. 0 reading on multimeter. Replacement on order.

Safe travels Drew

We are hosting H&F again. One of the players still under the weather. Beef short ribs on the menu.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day
