Still have not figured out how to have safe combination available.

If you embed your safe combination inside a secret code, you could post the combination on the door of your safe and only your family would know how to get it.

Say your birthday is 01-02-50. And the safe combination is 22-33-44.

Write a number down of 012202335044. If you family knows to discard "your" birthdate out of the long number, they have the safe combination. But a burglar would never figure that out.

You could use digits from a property address, all sorts of things. A secret code known only to your family or heir.

Good idea. My estate is simple. Everything goes to my 2 sons. Let them do the same for their kids. As I am aging so are they. Memory becomes shorter. I will figure it out.

funny I'm the guy who's trained in estate planning (CFP) and have little need for it, with no children.
And currently no real estate. That makes it very simple. In my case, on purpose.
My local brother, the accountant, is my executor. Once a year I remind him what my passwords are and where the money is.
He lives ten minutes away. Intentionally simple. Why, in part, I moved back home from NC.
He and my siblings sure aren't getting much out of me, so this is a chore for him, one he has done several times now.
we are only two years apart, who knows who will go first, dreadful thought.

if one knows better, which I do, just unfair to stick your brother with a mess. Just like most of you don't want to leave a legal
mess for your kids. Mental illness and drug addiction are simply realities of modern life.
So please don't leave a chunk of cash to a known addict.

if you own a multi-generational farm held in a family trust, or a great big factory, well, get thee to an accountant, CFP and lawyer occasionally.
particularly if any chance of relatives contesting your will.

and as we get closer to 80 we need to start cleaning out the proverbial barn

Today is an energy conservation day, for sure.

Ron, do the necessary family members know all of your names? Given and whatever middle names you have plus your last name? If yes, then you could always look at the telephone keypad and match the first initial of your names with the keypad and use the corresponding numbers. I do that with my personal papers and it took the guess work out of safe combinations.
Estate distribution is easy with me, Junior gets it all. (He is the one that stuck by me when my life hit rock bottom {cocaine addiction}), so he gets it all, the other two wrote me off and they get zip, zero, zilch and nothing. If he croaks before I do, then it all gets liquidated and donated to a pet rescue place up here.

Enough of that morbid subject.

Going to grab my oatmeal for breakfast and get on with my day.

Drew, I am over 80 and continue at add to the barn. Like I have mentioned before. I have Ladybird deed on house. So the big part of estate is taken care of.

High winds coming back today. Supposed to get 3-5 inches of rain then drop into the low teens again. I'll probably park my truck under a tree to protect it from the hail that might come with the rain.

Ct, 22 to start going to 26 ! The snow will start here about 10am, so want to get my 3 Mike walk in before that ! Once it starts to snow, you can’t see all the ice patches, and with snow on top that could be lethal ! I don’t want to end up like Ted !

BTW, Ted hope you get better soon ! I haven’t pulled that neck shoulder muscle in quite awhile, and I remember it took a few days to go away !

Ron, nice shot of the Pilated wood pecker ! We do occasionally get them here also ! They are big, and are kind of a bully with the smaller birds ! A lot like our blue jays !

Buppies and Mostly, hope you guys are feeling better !

Not too much planned for today, but will get together with friends for pizza and beer tonite !

We are pretty well packed for our Wednesday morning departure for southern Florida! Looking forward to relaxing on the beach a few hours every day down there ! Maybe read a couple of good books also !

Good morning everyone. -8°F, which seems so much colder when we see it in Celsius -22°. I always have a hard time thinking of Fahrenheit degrees in the single digits, and even the teens as “cold“, L O L

Did quite a bit of snow blowing here and at the rental property over the last few days, but I think it’s time to shovel the deck.

Meanwhile, the trees look so lovely with all the snow on them right now.

28 still...and still snowing. looks to be about two inches...so far. Not enough to get the equipment out.
Tried to feed the horses. They are in their run in about a quarter mile away and seem content to stay there. Lol. So back inside I came. Grabbed a few pieces for the wood stove on the way in...and well...nothingness awaits ....
