Well back in from a walk around the yard and trip down the driveway after last nights rain and high winds. It took down 3 pines on my lawn, but just a bunch of small sticks (under an 1 1/2") in the driveway so not bad. Only a few largertrees on the farms main fences lots of small ones.

The root ball is close to 5 feet above grade as it sits,
the larger one in the main yard it's 60-70' used to be tall.
They will be laying there for a while even walking around your feet sink an inch or so, so definitely no tractors for awhile

New laptop just showed....now I know why I am a Linux fan.

Sheesh, the amount of advertising and unnecessary programs on Windows boggles my mind.

How invasive for a "personal computer".

Now to transfer all the needed stuff from my other dead windows HD. Should be fun.

...and trying to scan from it, with a new HP printer, three HP programs before one finally had the feature I needed. Thanks HP. Another bureaucratic mess.

\rants off for today.

Good afternoon!

They were talking about a light snow for Monday in Texas but as far as I've seen it did not happen. Maybe next week when the real cold weather gets here. So far looks to be kinda mild compared to what a lot of ya'll get routinely.

We have been busy with watching our granddaughter this week an not much of anything else. But, that is perfectly fine with me.

Best wishes for everyone with the weather where you are and get well soon if you haven't already! I have finally turned the corner on the stuffiness and coughing.

Prayers and best wishes for everyone here on GM thread!

Yes, transferring computers is no fun. Good luck. You seem to be pretty adept at that.

Good Afternoon TBS,

My two sons and DIL's bought me a new laptop for Christmas ! I have not figured out how to make my commonly used websites stickies like the old laptop ! I guess I will need them to come over and show me how! I am guessing if I fooled around with it long enough I could do it,,,,

This laptop is much faster than my old brick !

It was in the 40's this afternoon, so I actually did a little more leaf cleanup around my garage !

Hope all have a good afternoon !

Lou, sorry about the trees going down. They looked really nice and healthy. A shame for sure.

Made it out of Costco under $300. Gas was at $2.37, so topped off a whopping 5.5 gals.....

I am getting disappointed with Costco. Now 5 items that we normally get are no more. It seems that they get a short supply of a really good item, flies off the shelves, then no more. Oh well.

Got a rotisserie chicken for dinner. Still can't be beat for $5. We get a few meals out of one, then soup from the carcass.

The knee is complaining about the walking, so time to go put it up on some pillows......

I got out of costco at $203 monday, course I just went for a couple things....... cart creep.
son is setting up his new laptop we got him for christmas. His old DELL literally falling apart. still works, but screen is coming loose, case has cracked at the hinges. I bought (I hope ) a better grade DELL this time. My new Dell, only a couple yrs old now, is coming apart at the back left corner where the power attaches. screw keeps backing out.
I used linux a lot for work, but it lacks some of the programs I want to run at home.
Went with wife for a lunch / walmart run. Chickfila was over $40 for 3 of us (son rode along for a free meal also), all I had was a bowl of soup, nothing else.
Local river is flooded, I'll add photo from the phone after I post. so much easier to add photos that way. The river pics weren't good, this is a creek that dumps into the river. Creek itself back in the trees.

Isn't it odd? The price of groceries is up the, the price of cars is up, and the price of houses is up but the price of gas is coming down.
They don't give out welfare stamps for gasoline and diesel like they do 'food stamps'.

Two bit, I use my son for the PC as well. He has zero education in IT, but he is good at it anyway.

Started plowing shortly after 9 this morning. The snow was wet, good packing snow for snow balls but a pita in the bucket. Took me 4 hours to plow out myself and 5 other driveways. It was a 6" snowfall. I have 7 hours so far on this tank full of fuel and it is still over half full. Next time out I will fill it, because I will NOT allow any of my fuel tanks to go below half in winter. The furnace oil tank is the only exception. The furnace sucks off the bottom of the tank.

Good (Thursday) morning. Overnight Low of 11.4C and it's presently 25.6C, partly cloudy with a gentle breeze.

Yesterday's 'into town' run went well and, after lunch, I went out to the shed to start pouring oil... but first I needed to remove the old engine oil filter. "No problem", says I, " it'll be an easy job, probably 5 minutes." 40 minutes LATER, bruised arm, 'barked' knuckle and utterly exhausted the bloody thing finally loosened and came off. I think that I also pinched a nerve for half of the tip of my right 'pointer' finger as it's still numb.

It appears that I had the strength of the proverbial 'factory 800lb gorilla' when doing the last engine oil change.💪

Anyway, all of the filters & plugs are back on and I filled the engine oil before calling it a day. The hydraulic oil will get done today, then it'll be a matter of disposing of the used oil.

That's about it, take care all.
