I guess a successful day.... on the Jeep front anyway.....
Got the new driveshaft installed. Filled a gallon into the transmission. Took it out for a test drive..... whew! Trans is working as it should. They dodged a bullet for sure!

Finding the leak was a lot easier than fixing it. Couldn't get a socket, let alone a rachet in the space. Two stupid hose clamps on a 1/2" hose crammed up against the radiator, behind the lower radiator hose.... maybe an 1/8th of a turn with a wrench.....in the 3" x 3" space.....

After finding that the first clamp was stripped and wouldn't tighten, and the second was loose quite a bit. Replaced them both and made sure that they were aligned to get a screwdriver on them. No leaks.

After being contorted into multiple shapes doing the above.... well just called it quits. It's fixed and parked. I can focus on the woodworking tomorrow.....

Good Evening Guys,
Got a couple hours in out in the shop. Fitting the legs to the seat mortises is a little tricky. I will get it done, just hoping I can wrap it up sometime on monday before we head back to Ct ! My hope is to get the front legs to the point where I can bring them to Ct to turn the tapers on the legs !🙏
Definitely a tricky mortise! Can't wait to see the finished product! I am assuming walnut?

Merry Christmas and happy new year. Hope Santa was good to y'all.

I cleaned house this year. Got a flat top grill, rotisserie attachment for the pellet smoker, some flannel shirts that actually fit Kids got me a fancy knife set for grilling Son in law got me a couple new tools.

And...... Santa delivered an Brand new Massey Ferguson 1825E with quick attach bucket loader, woods rotary cutter and a box blade

And before people comment, yes there's still bubble wrap on the ROPS and what you can't see from the photos is card board still zip tied to the loader arms

I stopped by the Massey dealer and signed paperwork the other day. Their driver loaded it up on their trailer and followed me home. I was a little excited. Once I unloaded the box blade off his truck I went straight to brush hogging didn't even notice the bubble wrap or cardboard still on it

Celebrated Xmas with the kids tonight, and then off to see mom tomorrow to celebrate with the rest of the family.

Happy New Years Eve!

I hope it’s a good start for everyone in 2024!
I had to put a battery on the backhoe so I could finish piling and burning brush, pulled 2 stumps. These 23f lows finally bit that battery.
Riptides, our condolences for your loss. Prayers for your family.

Prayers everyone stays well. If you aren’t prayers you get well soon.

Our country needs prayers too.

Good morning on this last day of the year!

All the beautiful snow has melted but now thaw ended and the cold is fast approaching.
It looks like it will be hoarfrost. -15 C = 5 F. With now snow that can be rather destructive. We will see

No big plans for today. The older daughters will be away in the company of their friends. We with the little ones will be at home
For the evening we have tradition - will do metallurgy - we will melt tin and cast fortunes
Other than that - nothing special
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Love them all, but Opa is ready for some peace and quiet ! 😂
Everyone leaves Monday morning !
We have that saying (I will try to translate literally) : relatives are like fish, they both start to smell on the third day
😁
good morning all
up early, busy morning, drinking cup of coffee and ate a hard boiled egg, then no food or water
until I finish drinking all this barium for CT scan later this morning. First time radiology said I could eat first, just a minimum
of four hours before scan.
Happy Birthday Wagtail!
Congrats Dftodd, nice looking Massey, hope you have a great time with it,
wonderful way to end the year!
37 going up to 44 in sun and clouds today
Drinking hot coffee. 32° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 37° with clouds and evening snow. Decided to do house chores yesterday. Still need to put laundry away. That will get me ready for a New Year.
2023 has been a long Tale. 🤠
Barium for Sunday morning breakfast, yuck.
it's kinda thick, kinda gross, hard to get down but very necessary.
the one I have to drink in the car at 8am in the hospital lot will be even harder to swallow.
every six months, good news is they don't think I need a PET. If cancer free for more than two years, they
go to CT scans with barium. Sure hope they don't come back in ten years and say barium is bad for you....
Wagtail, hope you do something fun on your birthday.
Phil, that's a neat turning. definitely like the rustic look. I thought that turning something that rough would just disintegrate.......doesn't it 'grab' at the chipped / offset areas?
You have to be very careful and methodic while turning. One wrong move can cause a catastrophe. I had a small catch and had to reglue a piece back on. Luckily I found it and it wasn't destroyed. Happy Birthday Wagtail!
Finally some sun today after 5 days of clouds and rain! Going to a high of 37.
Wife and I will be going to my sisters for dinner. Most of my family that is still in the area will be there. Should be a fun afternoon!
We need to get our 3 mile walk in first and then who knows what kind of trouble I can get in before we leave!
Happy New Years eve to everyone and Happy New Year to the whole breakfast crew!!
May we all stay safe and healthy thru the new year!
Good morning, the low temp is 18 and going to a high of 21°F. Wind N 7 mph. 30% chance of flurries.
It is never a good thing when Junior comes to my man cave at 1645 hrs and asks, "how stoned are you"? To stoned to drive was my answer. That is when I found out the pump crapped out.
This morning at 0930 I need to go to the hardware store and get two new sump pumps. The pump that we were running is 5 years old and finally crapped out yesterday. I fitted the back up spare pump into the system and it crapped out, too. We jerry rigged it to work overnight and will get two new ones today. The hardware store has lots of these column type pumps. The pumps are $115.oo ea plus 13% tax. 30 years ago they were $90.oo each, plus the inevitable tax.
People wonder why I won't have propane in any house I live in. The Whitmore Lake, MI explosion is a good example. In my 77 years on this earth I have NEVER heard of a furnace oil or wood stove that is properly maintained EVER exploding. 'Nuff said.
Happy Birthday Wagtail.
Have a safe day all
