Is that a raccoon by the water?
Good Morning
55 and going to the upper 70’s under a clear sky.
Yesterday started with driving to the airport for a trip to New Hampshire in the new Prius. It made the 33 mile drive as an EV, I’m still figuring all the systems out.
I plugged it in to a 120v outlet at the airport while I went off on the trip. It was fully charged when I got back. It drives the same on battery as it does when it did when I picked it up without enough charge to run in EV mode, and ran on gas for the ride home.
The trip was uneventful, the tops of the clouds were low, this was at 3000 feet. Some weather over Long Island and Cape Cod, but we were over it at 31,000 feet.
Made the usual stop at Mission BBQ for lunch, had some excellent Chicken. The goal for the ride home was to try out the radar cruise control on the turnpike, adjust the volume for the GPS prompts and find the tone controls for the JBL stereo. Pleased to say that I achieved them all. Now I know why Drew wanted adaptive cruise control. I set it for 73, was behind someone doing 55, and it followed them at a very safe distance.
When I moved over into a lane that was going faster, it sped up to 73, and slowed down nicely to follow traffic on the off-ramp. The spacing is adjustable, that was set at the maximum follow distance. A lot more to learn, but I like it a lot.
When I got home son and his family were there flying model airplanes, grandson was in the barn helping his grandmother, Zoe was enjoying the outdoors as well.
I visited with them, but didn’t do much else than study the manuals and figure more Prius stuff out.
Today will start with going over to my friend’s hangar (he recently passed away at 67 from a massive heart attack) to sell some of his equipment for his widow. I have an agreement on the plane that is in there, the goal is to out of the hangar by the end of the month. Also have to take his grandson up in the plane before it sells.
Probably go over to the RC field after lunch, not much else planned. Today is my birthday, we will all get together for dinner, but not today.
Glad to hear the car seems to be working out. I'll bet it is really nice.
AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Please keep on "geeking" us out.
I guess that Mission BBQ must be some good stuff. I got to say Howdy to Ms. Tootsie (world famous BBQ lady) last week.
No, these were the ones.... apparently a 'seasonal' item.

They were $11.99 for the box.
I love soft pretzels, but I have to back off the sodium intake nowadays. Prayers for your knee and hope it gets better over time.
It was a young raccoon, I had flushed it out of the weeds, and it just sat in the water and stared at me for almost a minute while I removed my leather gloves, to take a picture. Did not see it a few minutes later on the next time around. We have freshwater clams they will dig up and feast on, leaving behind some beautiful mother of pearl coated shells, that are really sharp on the edges.
The other picture was one of Don's favorite spiders, a large wolf spider, (known to kill brown recluse) that had a sack full of baby eggs on its behind.
