69F and "Fair" this morning, headed up to around 76F ... a big cool down ...
Got another week's worth of meds doled out first thing yesterday.
Then went up and snagged that circular piece sheet steel from up in the shop ... looked to be around 12 ga. and 16" across. Laid that down on a shovel to keep it up off the plastic, worked very well to heat up large tip on burner. Was able to melt 5 or 6 holes at a pop ...
But it wasn't a very pleasant task, as the high yesterday reached 87.3F. Not sure what the heat index was but it was up there in the 90's. Only saving grace was there was a breeze and a good bit of cloud cover at times.
Got another row of holes melted with 18" spacing.
Got the rest of the peppers and all of the eggplants (12 ?) planted:
We did get chased in at one point around 18:00 with a brief downpour.
Woman ended up staying inside and fixed some sloppy joes and oven baked potatoes for dinner.
I went back out to try and finish up the planting.
At some point before I finished a Severe Thunderstorm Watch was issued and then a Dangerous Thunderstorm alert.
Actually ended up with a number of severe weather alerts all over northern Ohio.
Storms hit just after I got everything put away and got inside the house.
There was a Tornado Warning issued for Medina, Wayne, and Stark counties. We were actually just on the edge of the path but for some reason NWS didn't issue a warning for our little corner of southwest Summit county.
Lots of wind, lightning and thunder, and heavy downpours. Power and Internet went off several times but thankfully didn't stay off.
Nearby LWS reports we got a total of 1.58" ... which is good because we needed it. Would have been better if it had occurred over a number of hours rather than 30 minutes though. Still, I'm not complaining.
Agenda for today:
Probably hook up the core aerator and hit the yard while it's nice and moist.
After that mow the parts of the yard down here around the house that I didn't get to the other day on account of it being too dusty.
Hopper feeder needs refilled, tube feeders may need it as well.
Probably start working on getting the cabbage plants in the ground.
Hope everyone is having a decent Friday ...
