riptides, better to use the beer to cool off than jumping in the ocean this past weekend...the Virginia Beach Lifesaving Service pulled 180 swimmers out of the ocean due to...RIPTIDES. Same riptides at Hatteras, where they saved 21.
I saw that. Maybe better reporting, more information from sources, or the ocean is just getting more nasty.

I had two friends get caught in some a couple of years ago. One made it to shore, the other had to get the Coast Guard involved. They don't speak to each other now. It was pretty scary.

It feels pretty humid here. It is supposed to hit 90F this afternoon. They are warning people to stay hydrated. I mowed here at the house Monday. It looks like it could use it again now. I mowed the yard and the farm lane yesterday. It looks pretty good. I ejected the hand shears from the cup holder on the mower and replaced it with a water bottle and drank 2. It really didn't feel too hot. I want to do the meadows this afternoon.

Hope everyone is staying cool.

Chris

Morning all!
70 going to 89-90 today with high humidity and no wind. Good stay in the house day!
Put the loader back on the tractor yesterday and went out back to turn the mulch pile. After that switched out to the forks so I could grab a pallet and load it with wood I got from friends and relatives. Got it up off the ground to hopefully dry out. Grass could use cutting but I think I will leave it a little longer than usual with all this heat.

Bone density scan came back for me and the doctor put me on calcium and vitamin D3 immediately with an appointment scheduled for as quick as possible. Hopefully can be treated whatever it is.
Still a little sore in the neck but getting better every day.
Wife's voice seems to be going again! Need to get that looked at more!
Wife is going to work today for a few hours.
Good day to work downstairs in the woodshop after a few chores inside.
Here is my latest project from a rotten birch log.
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

85F and "Fair" @ 11:15, HI 90F, DP 68F, HU 58%, AQI 83. Calling for an actual high of 86F for the day with heavy thunderstorms developing this afternoon.

Got tube and suet feeders refilled yesterday afternoon + scattered cracked corn for the ground feeders. Also put out 20 mealworms for the bluebirds.

Got another couple of bags of mulch put around the hawthorn tree out back on the south side.

Woman picked up a Pork Tenderloin Filet yesterday at the grocery so I fired up the grill (think for first time this year) and threw that on with some shagbark hickory chips around 19:00. Woman fixed some sweet corn to go with it + plus some fresh pumpernickel bread. Turned out good, very tender, and quite tasty.

Watched Nature on PBS during dinner.

Currently enjoying first cup of coffee.

Woman came in from out back a little bit ago. She went out to harvest some rhubarb and instead ended up pulling weeds. Couldn't believe She stayed out in the heat. She grabbed a shower after She came in as She was drenched.

I'll get out there in a bit and get the rhubarb harvested and then probably work on the mowing down here around the house and try and get that done before the thunder boomers roll in a couple of hours.

Hope everyone is having a good Thursday ... (y)

88° and still waiting. I was wanting to eat lunch in PA, but that might not happen.

Now 86F, HI 91F ... it feels hot even sitting in the shade ... doing next to nothing.

Got mowing all done on west side and back, still a little bit to go up in the northeast corner. Started feeling raindrops and there was a "Rain starting in 15 minutes" alert so I went ahead and parked the Cub over in the barn and came on in.

Did get a dump cart load of weeds She pulled hauled up to the compost pile though.

Also harvested about a dozen rhubarb stalks. Woman cooked some of those down ... just gave me a taste ... mmmm ...

Had some of her Mac salad and a couple pieces of that pork filet for a little snack.

Then got another 10 strawberries potted. The ones I did Monday are greening up and looking good. Turns out I was wrong on the number left to do - still another 10 to go.

Probably go ahead and get those finished up here in a bit.

It's looking like we are in "the slot" with all the rain going to north and south of us ... unless something changes we'll probably stay dry.

Front should come through around 19:00 - 20:00 and the temps will start to drop.
