PTO flippy-thingy didn’t get done, but everything else on the list did. I call it a win for the day.

On my 430, the pull rod for the PTO took the arm over center and that’s what kept it engaged. To disengage it you had to move the handle on the rod a bit sideways to get it off the over center position. If yours is worn, maybe a simple spring to keep it over center

Good morning.
70 with high of 75 today under a grey sky, not much chance of rain, but grey nonetheless.

Yesterday was busy all day. Nice trip to the zoo, but the bears there didn’t look as healthy as Jay’s.

Grandson held up very well, but I understand that he went to bed early and slept really well.

Did a few chores when we got home, mowed a occupied areas with the Lazer that I missed along the lower part of the lane, and then flew some RC, the drone pictures and video show promise

Played music with boys after that, all in all, a good time was had by all.

I’ve got some tinkering to do today, and I should get back to the little airplane in earnest, it we’ll see what happens.

Good Morning!!!! 75F @ 6:00AM. Sunny. High 98F. Winds WNW at 10 to 15 mph.
No rain in the 10-day.
Yesterday's high reached a warm 88F, but today will make that seem like a nice spring day. Maybe it's time to get the shower head and valve replaced on the back porch so I can do the dunk'n'sun routine again. Seems way too early in the year for that, though.

Got in touch with the fella that builds Subaru conversion wiring harnesses and placed an order for one. It'll come with a new engine computer, an intake manifold with sensors, and what he says is everything needed to replace the existing harness. But when I asked if there's any documentation I could look over, he said all the wires are labeled, and I wouldn't need any. Hmm...

The contractor finished as much painting as he could yesterday, and a building inspector bought off on the stucco prep work. Hope to get stucco crew back next week, and roofer should be coming week after that. Sure hope everything goes according to plan.

Not sure what the rest of the day will bring, but there could be a siesta when the heat gets here.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

all the wires are labeled.
sounds almost too good to be true...

little Greenworks cordless mower worked fine. Very quiet, cut fine, this
is no Honda for sure, but lightweight enough I almost didn't mind missing the self propelled.
Almost...well, I need the exercise.

Billy- There is a Chemical Dependency treatment center the next hill over. I'd bet that this bear is a habitual dumpster diver there.

Popgadget- I am happy to read that the visit to the zoo went well. Our bear does look healthier than that zoo bear. And thanks for sharing the family picture; a good looking family. I really like the drone picture. My homebuilt is now a hangar queen.

It was a mix of filtered skies and some mid and high level clouds with 52ºF as this morning's low temp. These weather conditions continue and it is currently a very pleasant 66ºF with a nice breeze blowing and 13mph gusts recorded. I may see a little more sun this afternoon and increased wind as the approaching mid level "dry" cold front builds in as the day progress and a high temperature in the low 70ºF's.

I did the dump run early and have no real plans to do anything productive today, but appreciate this beautiful weekend here.

I hope that everyone has a decent weekend without any unexpected "surprises."

Flail back in service

While lift pins pointed outward was my preferred fix, it didn’t work. Could only attach if the extendable lift arms were fully extended
View attachment 800178

Pointing inward did but had to use a short bushing in the pin side hole as it was Cat2 size and a double washer due to non threaded portion.

View attachment 800179

Still wish the threaded portion about 1/2 “ longer. Will have to monitor nuts.

Will do a test mow after lunch.
Looking at your pictures it seems to me that you mower was originally designed to use thru pins with the lift arm sandwiched between the side plates.
Have you considered getting a second plate and bolting it on outside of the torn out piece?
Some of the through pins are stepped for implements with two different hole sizes, some are just straight pins.

Light rain mid 60s. It will be an inside day.

I had two very nice afternoons mowing at the farm. Nice and warm after a long cold spring. Mowed the lawns Thursday and got the farm lane and the meadows Friday. There is always more that could be done but it is looking pretty good. I don't like leaving clippings on top of the grass but I can't mow often enough to keep up with how fast the grass is growing. It should slow down soon.

The wheat at is looking good at the farm. It won't be that long to harvest time.

Have a nice weekend

Chris

Raining as I type. About an inch since midnight. Plenty of L&T. Some close strikes to get us out of bed, well, me out of bed.

supposed to rain all day and tomorrow too. The water is now running off, as the ground is soaked.

Taught son how to run the Shindaiwa Weed eater yesterday evening. He has ran it before, but only handed to him. I explained and he did. He had to remove the pole saw attachment, connect the weedeater. Stressed that ONLY premix gas used because of 2 stroke. He said "why?", I tried to explain there is no oil sump in a 2 stroke engine, but without a diagram it went in 1 and out the other. Showed him how to load the easy load string head and wind it up. By the time we got to actual weed eating, I had to hold a flashlight for him. Killed about 4 or 5 scorpions. I had set off a bug spray can but apparently not strong enough. Raid Ant and Roach spray will kill them in a minute if sprayed directly.

Wifey cleaned the chicken coop yesterday, and put the poop on the compost pile.

Daughter has to pull "a double shift" at work today. She works at the restaurant that Ron, Don, me and our wives met at years ago. I told her to wear comfortable shoes.

I got my hair shortened too yesterday Mostly.

I think Lou is correct. Thanks Lou.

Chris, I saw some local rye that was a very pretty green. I remember remarking to a friend that I liked rye bread.

got my outside chores done, currently have battery charger on rv truck battery, the new one, to make sure it was all the way charged.
Didn't take long before the all green light came on.
House batteries are kept charged by a converter, as I keep rv plugged into garage outlet.

I guess if I wanted to put the charger on them, would hooking up to just one work since they are ganged?
or better positive on one and negative on the other?

(if I did that would turn off master battery disconnect first)

Morning all, 76 and according to weatherunderground a high of 75?? Rain in the forecast.
Got the blowers out to clean up the driveway and front steps and worked more on the pool. Almost ready, just need some more salt (!) and a few other chemicals.

Sodamo- sorry about your flail issues, painful when you depend on things to work.

KC - loud boom and house shake for us is just another Ash falling in the forest. I still go out and look, but most are deep in the woods now, find them on my maintenance hikes. I call them toothpicks, sticking up about 20 feet.

Drew - make sire you can connect TV etc. before verizon guy leaves. Be careful using two chargers for one unit, not balanced could lead to problems.

Spike56 - place I worked at in the 80's was working on starwars laser. Looks like they are still working on parts of that. Gotta be spending big $.

Gotta get stuff done, sons new GF is showing up and her dad wants to check us out. SO there is good parenting going around.

Be well,

Guess this is a comment on my BBQ skills?

Good morning! Low of 48°, going up to only 66°. Heavy clouds this morning should have some precip falling from them this afternoon. More of the same for tomorrow.

Yesterday's appointment went well, then got the Blue Atlas Cedar planted. Also transplanted another larger Lilac out of a big planter. Didn't get to take a walk with the string trimmer.... maybe today.

Initial plan for the day was to use the hedge trimmer to give a couple of Spanish Brooms a haircut.... they are supposed to be 'evergreen', but I think we get too cold...
Every year, they brown out about 90% down to the base. Going to try trimming them down to see if they recuperate any faster.....

And, get started on building the next planters......

Need to make another shelf for the greenhouse.... running out of usable space. Everything that was started or overwintered is now outside. The new transplants, seed starters, and young seedlings are in there now.

Lots of planting to be done this season....

IMG_1140.jpegIMG_1141.jpegIMG_1142.jpegIMG_1143.jpeg

Probably not all of these, but a good amount will be ready for planting soon.

Everyone have a great day!

Afternoon All!
69 going to a sunny 75!
Neck is doing better after 13 days of taking it easy and meds! Managed to get the mower running for the season and cut the weeds! Hung around in the wood shop and finished a Sycamore bowl I've been working on.
Heading out to a birthday party for one of my numerous great nieces. Sometimes having 8 siblings with all their offspring is a challenge. I'm in charge of picking up two sheet pizzas.
That's all for now.
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

Ted I can smell the extra oxygen in the air from here...all those wonderful plants.
Phil, you just keep getting better.

picked some more radishes, letting them soak in cold water for awhile.

txdon, if you can get D-earth then dust your potato plants with that. I will kill the bugs on the leaves.
Thanks, but no need to now. These potatoes were planted in Late February and with no killer freezes since then they are ready to harvest as soon as the ground dries a bit. The raised garden drains well so just 48 hours without rain and I will start pulling.

The "Farm" closed this morning because of the rain but this afternoon is still pending.
