Good morning! 51˚F, North wind temp will remain constant though out this cloudy day.

Feeling a little delayed soreness from the pole saw action, of course. There were two small limbs 35' up at the top of one tree that I could not reach. I just told Mom to not walk under that tree when the wind is blowing. Next time I go out there I'll cut up and haul the branches out of the yard.

Could be a car wash day if a little more sun comes out this afternoon.

PJ, sorry to hear about your beloved Evey. Give extra hugs from all of us.

Ron your black squirrels look like two monkeys this morning, did a double take.
txdon,
Wind screaming here near Lexington. Guess you could wash a car today, it would sure dry FAST ! :)

Good Morning!!!! 38F @ 6:00AM. Partly cloudy this morning, then becoming cloudy during the afternoon. High 56F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph. Good chance of rain starting middle of next week.

Stopped by the VW dealer yesterday and talked a nice young lady into letting me test drive a '14 Sportwagon. It had the TDI engine and a 6 speed manual transmission in it, and drove quite nicely. Still sounded like a Diesel, but not from inside where it was very quiet. Well, maybe not very quiet, but a heck of a lot quieter than the F250. Before she got the keys, a gentleman came out to apologize for the rough state of the car, as it hadn't been prepared for sale yet, and they'd been working on the Diesel Particulate Filter and it hadn't accumulated enough miles yet to reset the emissions counters. That's just one of the known problems of these DieselGate cars, and at 125,000 miles on this one it was way past due. But whatever extended warranty the repair triggers, it'll be done by 150,000 miles, and without an expensive aftermarket warranty, I'd be crazy to buy that car. Talking the experience over with a friend, he suggested I take a look at an Audi A3, which is essentially the same car with a more powerful gas engine, more sound deadening, and a higher trim level. And no Diesel issues with DPF or urea. But it gets 15-20 fewer MPG on the highway, and they're pretty thin on the ground.

Also made a stop at the Ford dealer, and quickly learned that the only Transit on their lot was a hybrid, which I'm not at all interested in. And that there weren't any nearby dealers with one (I already knew that), and that they couldn't even order one. Looks like I'll be drivin' the F250 for a while longer unless I find something from Dodge or Mercedes.

Headed down to Lompoc for a birthday celebration with one of my friends, and maybe a look at any new houses that come on the market. As of now, though, there aren't any likely candidates. And I'll be in the truck, propping up the economy at 19 MPG...

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

RNG - I drove an A3 in Europe and got to open it up on the Autobahn.
Really nice drive and handling. Very quiet.
Some dash items in random places, and NAV was less than useful, used my phone on tmobile for nav.
Reasonable rear storage for it's size class.

RNG.
I had a 2009 VW Jetta Sportwagen. The only faults I had with it were a slight leak in the sunroof and it had a tendency to let me speed.
Many times on the drive to and from Alexandria, Va and Fulton, Ms, on empty roads, I'd find myself doing 90.
Got from 47 tp 52 MPG. Could load A LOT in the back.

SWMBO nixed buying a "fixed" VW.
Highly recommend.

Good morning to all! Low of 10°, wind chill of -20°. High today only expected to be 28°. Lighter wind.

PJ, sorry to hear about Evey. It's hard to say goodbye to a loyal friend.

Don, the pole saw looks to be a 'good one'. Sometimes old school is better.

Dennis, hope the crud doesn't get you too bad.... hope you feel better soon!

RNG, good luck with the vehicle search..... I am finding it very hard to find specific options / wants on the vehicles on the list of prospects. Either way to many options which is keeping the prices high, or the opposite extreme... a piece of beat up junk. I have a couple dealers still looking, but I'm going to wait for "what I want" vs. "we have this...."

Today's agenda includes a grocery run. Need to pickup a few things for the GS's birthday dinner / party tomorrow. And, maybe get to that barn door track. Didn't feel like going out into the wind / cold / snow to the shop to get the required tools and supplies....

I did get a call into the "referral" clinic. They had no record / request for the second opinion from the surgeon. So I called them.... the gal said she had sent it to a different fax number.... a likely excuse. I will call back today to make sure it got there.....

Everyone have a great day!

Good. morning! 46˚F cloudy North wind heading for s sunny afternoon and 50˚.

I will attempt spicy sausage attempt 2 this morning.

I started working on the back yard garden. The front of the garden will be 10 dwarf youpons and then a raised bed behind those for a kitchen garden and a stepping stone walk path between the house and the raised bed. I ordered this pair in brown from TS.

TSC wants $11 shipping, won’t ship to store.

Amazon has same price, free delivery. Done, they make it so easy.

The A3 did close to 180 kph, guess it had a bit different gearing and engine tune. Probably could have gone faster, but not with a rental and family .
