Good Morning
It’s 30 and snowing here in Bangor, ME. Supposed to warm up and turn to rain, hopefully by the time we leave. It’s 38 and a decent day at home, after 1.25” of rain yesterday and overnight.

Yesterday I didn’t accomplish anything other than drive to Philly and fly up here to Maine. We did eat a late lunch at “Smoke & Steel” which has BBQ and axe throwing. A great combination!

Today will be figuring out when it’s warm enough outside to pull the plane out of the heated hangar and get it fueled up for the trip home. Other than than that, I’ve got nothing planned for when I get home, wife probably has other plans….

That would be very bad for the engine!
I think Scotch would fail the lubricity standards...mix it with recycled deep fry oil.
and watch the codes on your dash light up.
Check engine
Get new engine

40º now going to 70º. Clear skies and sunny today. CA weather can be real nice this time of yr.
More digging up of the back yard drainage pipe. Clogged last winter and can't get it cleared. Not sure what the solution is.
May try a big (electrical) sweep instead of a 45º this time. Played with the tractor control modifications yesterday, had some success.
Ordered some real control knobs from a new found machinery parts website WDS Components | Spare Parts | Machine Accessories
Fun place if you need hardware for the stuff you are making. Have a great day.

Morning all, 38 going up to 50 and cloudy, more rain last night.
Roof leak not visible so far, maybe ok? who knows.

Did not get much done in the garage except ordering masonry screws. I know , not very exciting.

Good Morning!!!! 56F @ 4:45AM.
Sunny. High 67F. Winds NNW at 5 to 10 mph.
40s lows and 60s highs in the 10-day, with a small chance of rain next Tuesday. Pretty much normal for this time of year, but once again we'er falling behind on rainfall.

Found a number of dragon eggs to take care of in the email queue yesterday, enough to consume most of the day. One was another bill from HughesNet, which I decided to deal with by cancelling the service. It took 23 minutes on the phone, and I lost track of the number of times I said "Please, just cancel the service, IMMEDIATELY". They couldn't even do that, and insist on dragging one more month's worth of charges out of me. That charge will be contested with the credit card company when it lands. The Starlink connection keeps chugging along, letting me do everything I never could do on the HughesNet connection. All of the streaming I do is in Standard Definition (SD) resolution, and the new 1 Tb data cap presents no issues. I don't even have a TV capable of using 4K content, and SD looks great on the main 65" TV.

Just my opinion, but pouring Scotch into anything other than a cut glass tumbler is alcohol abuse, Drew. Yet here we are, doing effectively the same thing with adding ethanol to our gasoline. It contains less energy than gasoline, so we don't get the mileage we used to, and we have to pay subsidies to the farmers to make it worth while for them to raise the corn used to make it. That means less grain to feed people and beef cows, so we pay more for those, too. And we still have to use catalytic converters, which are hugely expensive to replace when they wear out, or when someone steals them. Then there's all the harm the alcohol does once it gets inside the fuel systems in our vehicles, even the new ones. And the small engines we all use every day aren't designed or rated to use anything with alcohol in it, and we tear up our rotator cuffs trying in vain to start them after they sit a few months. I'd better stop there before, well, you know what, happens...

That new Prius does look zippy, Drew, and with performance numbers like that, the price of an old Prius will likely drop. I can't understand how that increased performance can be achieved without sacraficing mileage, though...

All that sitting in the cool office left me with cold feet and frosted fingers, so I cleaned out the wood stove in late afternoon and started a small fire in it. Didn't take long to get the place up to 80F and be comfortably sitting without several layers on. Usually I try to hold off 'till Thanksgiving before firing up the stove, but with so much wood available to burn there's just no reason to conserve.

Happy Hump Day, folks!

Paul, fly safely
meanwhile your new ride has arrived!
very cool looking too

My present Prius is a long way from worn out, but the new one seems pretty cool, especially the horsepower!
I wonder if they are bringing back the Prius V (station wagon) to the US market.

More vultures helping

tough neighborhood you live in... ;)

104 gallons of #2 just delivered for $4.679 a gallon.
now that's a fill up...

1100 bucks worth of diesel in that little tank. I expect to burn it all, costs me double what it did last year.
Am hoping my electric radiator heaters will help out. One that sits next to me here in office keeps me toasty warm.
Rest of house set at 70. Keeping an extra layer on more often.

grey and breezy out. Built a coat tree to put near door to keep my stuff from laying about. No entry closet at all.
Cleaning lady will be pleased. She clearly likes order. Fun to see how she rearranges stuff.

35F and cloudy @ 10:00, heading up to a high of around 38F for the day.

Rental company came by yesterday afternoon and picked up scissors lift. Need to call them this morning.

Got some of the wall/ceiling area washed with TSP substitute and the anchors put for the 3rd piece of track for the lighting in the dining room. Have to finish up the washing where that 3rd piece goes and the areas to be patched (there are three)

And got one of the holes to be patched trimmed out.

Also verified that we have power at one set of wires on the wall when one of the main switches for the dining room is turned on. That set has a hot, neutral and ground. (The second switch in that box switches the power for the chandelier and turns it on and off)

The second set of wires coming out of the wall has black, white, red, and a ground wire.

There is a second bank of switches in the living room. One switches an electrical outlet (or outlets) in the living room. Another controls the two outside lights at the corners at the back of the house. A 3rd switch controls an outside wall light on the deck in back. The 4th doesn't seem to do anything and I'm guessing that one may be the one that controls the second set of wires described above ... although checking it, I didn't find voltage or continuity on black/white combo. Still need to check the red wire.

So still trying to wrap my head around how this is wired as it doesn't seem match any of the (3) descriptions on how a three-way switch would be wired.

Agenda for the rest of the day:

Run out and get some blood drawn for blood work.

Wash down the rest of the wall area where I'm working.

Figure switch/wiring.

Cut out hole for new electrical box, get the wires fished up through the wall and into the box.

Trim out 2nd hole down near the floor.

Start mudding.

Hope everyone has a great Hump Day ... (y)
