Good morning!!!!

Wow. Sad. Already miss Roy. And it hurts even more, that I've been off for a few days.

Don’t know, probably are some. Buppies might put me to work on a paver.

I told my neighbor here I might have to help him do plumbing. He’s having a hard time getting employees.
You could do paving early in the morning while it's cool, then go do plumbing until your knees are worn out. :)
A very good friend was likely flying the B17. I heard from his wife that he was on the airplane, but no other details. He was active in its restoration, and was rated to fly it.
It looked to me from the one angle, that the Air Cobra guy almost had intent in his flight path. I hope not.
Prayers for your friend's family Paul.

do any of you own a Tesla?
Is your insurance much more expensive than your other cars?
I found this interesting, read in a discussion about cost to insure the Tesla p/u truck which is made of natural stainless steel
like the Delorean was. Of course the truck is still vaporware at this point.

For 2019, the Tesla vehicles national average annual auto insurance cost ranged from $2,400 to $3,300

I pay 1300 bucks to fully insure a Volvo, with a 1000 deductible on physical damage.
I thought I was way overpaying. I still remember when full coverage was 5-700 dollars a car.

The more complicated the safety systems are in cars, the more expensive they are to repair in accidents.
So my very safe Volvo is likely more expensive to insure but I see that as a fair tradeoff for safety.
Volvo's latest EV suv has all new LIDAR systems running off a roof camera, while Tesla is pulling lidar/radar out of its new cars
I read. I'm guessing Teslas are more expensive than average to fix.

If you think of the newer MB's big round emblem in the middle of the grill, the one with all the radar sensors behind it, something simple like a bird hitting that
at speed, can't imagine what oem cost of that part would be. Lot of expensive stuff now in the very front of our cars.

Remember the Saturns with plastic door panels that were supposed to solve the age old parking lot ding problem?
Well those doors and panels became more expensive to replace than regular steel ones, and guess what, up went the insurance
costs for Saturns. I always liked their cars. They seemed honest in some ways. Maybe because they were sold for advertised price.
Here's the elephant in the room for auto insurance. Why don't your rates go WAY down, when your car gets old and de-valued? $4000 to insure a new $70,000 vehicle, but when it's only worth $20,000 they should only charge you $1100. Or less.
Also, they aren't charging accordingly for electric vehicles. They accelerate much faster than most any muscle car from the late '60's to the early 70's. If they charged by acceleration rates (like they did during the muscle car days), they'd be charging twice or more what they do. And 1 more thing while I'm on the apple crate, the EV vehicles cost more for a fire department to come spray some chemical foam on them after an accident. Does the insurance co pay for that?

Thomas, sounds like a nice walk, and you have a wildlife sanctuary.

Ok team, prayers for our team, our country, our leadership, our 1st responders, Ukraine, and Roy's family.

good morning all
rained all night, 1.37 on the gauge this morning; that's a good soaker

Alien, more pics please. Love your flowers and plants most of us don't get to see.
Australia has really had some flooding problems, hope your friends are ok.

no plans for today. Next week will be really busy so glad to chill this week.

as cars age, the cost of physical damage coverage does go down, but sure doesn't seem like enough...
when my wife complained why repairs on our old boat were so expensive when the boat only cost 150k, I told her because
there were a million dollars worth of parts in the old girl. Cost to fix doesn't go down when things age.
So your 70k Tahoe that five years later is worth 30k, technically your premiums drop since the max exposure to carrier
is only market value of your vehicle before they total it. BUT, if it's a complicated vehicle, like an EV or any loaded modern car
with sixteen computers worth of tech in them, cars get totalled today much faster than they used to. So average claim costs are really rising.
just think of the cost every time those airbags go off. By then, many cars are totalled anyway.

so many people driving without insurance, so even the cost of Uninsured Motorist coverage has gone way up.
Full coverage used to be about 700 a car and 550 for multi car policy. Appears over time everything has now doubled.

dealing with insurance matters at church, big crane coming in for taking out 300 year old dead tree in graveyard. No one understood what employers liability
under WC meant, confusing it with general liability. Boring stuff, but important when Jose falls into the chipper...
