sigh
long chat with Ellen, Randy/Toppop's widow.
Randy was in poor health for a long time, diabetes, heart disease, could not get diabetes under control, then
his heart had serious problems so this summer they put in a pacemaker and a month or two later he died of a heart attack.
This is the second husband who has died on Ellen and we talked about that, did my best to send the love and affection of 30+ plus guys to
her, and she seemed very pleased about that.
She is living with her Dad and has family nearby so she is ok. She knows she can call me anytime.
She seemed sad but upbeat, best that could be expected. Strong woman, grateful to her for taking such good care of our friend.

Thanks for that, Drew. Probably could be said, no one on GM likely better suited for such a conversation and I mean that only with the best of thoughts. A bit sobering to think of the passings noted on this forum over the years. Wonder if there is a heavenly based GM/TBN chapter?

Yes, Sodamo, there is a Good Morning Thread in Heaven
(Sung to the tune of Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus)

Sodamo wistfully wondered if there was a Good Morning thread/TBN in Heaven. Many have pondered this, hoping that it would be true, that in that great ever after there would be a way for those with Tractoritis to share their intellect and experience with others. To share their daily habits and experiences with those in similar situations and to help the unfortunate DYI mechanics to maintain their steeds.

I like to believe that there is such a thread. A thread in a place where all tractors start at the first turn of the key, tractors that produce the horsepower that they were built with, without the need for DEF, DPF, or any other annoying, unnecessary electronics. The operators can ride and work with these tools with joy, knowing that the ultimate safety switch is protecting them, that the hand of God is close to shield them, even though in this perfect place it is not needed. For these tractors and implements run perfectly all the time, no matter the manufacturer. They do still require maintenance, but only if the operator wishes for that.

See, I like to think that some of us like to do regular maintenance, (oil changes, greasing, checking the air in the tires), tinker, tweak, fabricate, and build. There is personal satisfaction in that. But now the weather is always ideal for the task at hand. No more rolling in the mud to get to the drain plug, chipping the ice away from that grease fitting, no too wet to plow. But there are drawbacks.

The grass is always green. So those bush hogs, flail mowers, and belly mowers can have constant use. The soil is always ready to till, so no worries about wet dirt not rolling off the blade, hanging up in the tines of the rototiller. The days are always perfect for turning and baling hay, putting down stone, or cleaning out ditches.

Days where RNG’s van always starts and purrs like a kitten, Don has no dust to contend with on his rides, the deer don't destroy Drew's yard and garden, Bird doesn’t have to water the lawn nor mow in high temperatures, David’s building projects all go off without a hitch.

All of our ailments are absent, our health is good. Our loved ones and friends are present. We can choose to work with our tractors and on our projects, or we can choose to sit on the porch for that day, to admire the work we did the day before, and plan the next days adventure.

And still have time to go on the Good Morning thread, share our adventures, read others adventures, and stay caught up to the current page. With the best internet service. (Edit - Oh, and the diesel fuel is cheap!)

This I believe.

Thomas Best wishes for a fast recovery for your wife. So sorry to hear she has been unwell.
Scaredy, Many happy returns to your wife.

Had a few hours at Hospital Ortho specialist yesterday. Got a real good bloke this time. He admitted that certain things with my hands had been 'overlooked' and needed attention. He fetched his boss who agreed I had more problems than initially diagnosed and moved me up to the next level for faster attention. Such a relief to get someone who really listens and follows up. Operation will be a bit more extensive than first thought.

Rain Bomb hasn't hit us yet, in fact no rain to speak of, just a very light drizzle for a short time the last 2 days.
Few problems with daughters dog. It nearly killed our rooster. Had to get the rooster off him and took a while for it to recover. Feathers will need to grow back. New rules for dog in place.

My mom had her follow up cardiologist appointment, but it had to be on the phone, because the doctor was having to quarantine. She is doing much better, and was given the okay to drive a short distance to the grocery store. She welcomed that amount of independence.
Great news indeed. :)

Good Afternoon,

This is why my wife's travels home were delayed last night. Her dad is also with her, more stops along the way.

they lost the 7 point adaptor that goes from this to the vehicle, ... it is on the road somewhere between Prince George and Quesnel BC

result - no trailer lights

my guess is that they did not have it locked in, and being loose the adaptor fell out of the plug and dragged on the pavement until it freed itself. Al a result, the 4 point connector was dragged along the road for about 180 kms (120 miles) or so, and now looks like this...

and I had just rewired this making sure that everything worked properly before she left with the trailer in late May.

they had it replaced and fixed this morning, and they are now back on the road, about 6.5 hrs from home
She does know how to load and strap down a trailer (she ratchet straps way better than I do) ... after years of beekeeping

Prayers for Safe Travels to them
They should be home by 9- 10 PM today, yes, on her birthday. Thanks for all the birthday greetings

No, I am not going to put this in the other thread ... how not to load, transport ...

just a little wear and tear Scaredy. I've dragged a few safety chains in my day. Glad they made it.
I like the larger round trailer connector, easier to plug in and secure. But instead we wiggle wiggle wiggle these little
rubber things and hope they stay put. We could use a better design for the four pin, perhaps a larger gripping surface.
