5+ hours and flail mowing is done for another round. Maybe the driest I’ve ever mowed. Had to spot and clean the air screens 6 times to get temp back down. Lots of dead grass from previous mowing.
Glad to be done. Feet up and relax after a nice shower.

69F and cloudy @ 22:30, heading down to a low of around 64F overnight. High hit 81.9F here today.

Finally got a decent night's sleep last night, ended up sleeping almost 12 hours total, after waking up in the morning and rolling over and going back to sleep.

Yesterday was horrible: lack of sleep + intense itching from the bites and stings. Seems like it goes away for a day and then will erupt the day after, complete with swelling. The itching was bad enough that I could have scraped the skin off if I scratched them as much as I would have liked to.

Woman picked up some Benadryl and Calamine lotion yesterday, and I took one of the Benadryl last night which might account for much less itching today. Probably go ahead and take another one tonight.

Good news is that I haven't seen any evidence of activity back where the nest was and I've looked repeatedly over the last couple of days.

Got most of the rock pile dug out today, had a lot of dirt in it which made it tougher - used the box blade to separate it and then did some pick up by hand on the smaller ones. Got the rocks moved up along the driveway. Just a little bit to finish tomorrow if it's not too wet.

If it is too wet, I'll probably work on screening that clay since it's on higher ground that should drain fairly well.

Having that area cleared off will give us a large area to store and tarp stuff that's currently in the barn. Just need to finish grading it off.

Have some grading work to do as well in front of the barn now that the area has been cleared of the clay pile and trees (+ other junk), initially so that I can get a man lift in there to clean out the gutters and get the gutter covers installed:

Forecasts show rain moving in tonight and continuing into the morning and then a dry period in the middle of the day before showers return later tomorrow evening.

Tuesday through Saturday this coming week is looking pretty good so hopefully more progress then.

Hope everyone had a great day ... (y)

Good evening all. 61ºF for the start, clear sky, light breeze. Very light wind, some cloudiness in afternoon, and high temp was 87ºF. Humidity too low for HI much above actual temp. Bike ride ( 43 miles) to start morning no group ride this morning. Nap after lunch and that was it.

Good (Sunday) arvo. Overnight Low of 4.5C, the sun was out this AM and there was a steady breeze before heading off to Church. There was 2mm in the gauge and the High reached, briefly, 17C.

Chores are done and finally finished all of the GM posts... gees, we do rabbit on at times. ;)

Take care all.

Good evening! High temp today only hit 76°.... hazy sunshine, from both smoke from the west and high thin clouds. A t-storm passed to the west of us, not big at all. No rain.

Got the transfer case taken apart, after breaking my snap ring pliers. So a trip to our now local HF for a new pair. 45 minutes later and bearings are out. Well except for one.... it's a blind hole roller bearing. Can't just tap it out.....

So, contemplating leaving it in. It seemed to be tight, no noticeable damage. But, I don't know the tolerances. This bearing could be the culprit making the noise --- or not.....
It's the rear of the front output shaft, inside a 'cup'.

Any suggestions or comments from the machine experts here are welcome!
WOULD YOU GUYS LEAVE IT IN?

I can go try and rent a special puller, but I think it's too big by looking at the picture online.
The pullers I have are for pulleys, applying pressure to the center shaft. Saw a guy on YouTube crack the 'cup' using one like I have. I don't want to do that.

Good thing ---- no abdominal pain at all! I believe it was some new bug....
harbor freight slide hammer to pull it? I've had to literally destroy the thin shell cup type to get them out. Once, I used a small carbide ball mill in a dremel, to cut thru the thin shell wall all the way to the back. It will collapse when done. It really doesn't matter if you nick the walls as long as you don't have any "proud" resultants. And be sure to flush out the chips and debris.

2.45 p.m. and 24.4 C here Wagtail.

LS
We used to run a weld around inside the bearing cup and that would shrink it enough that they fall out.

Was thinking how I often talk about mowing different areas and thinking that ‘s a bit meaningless. But, I do have a old, crude map. At least I know where I am and so does Sophie.

IMG_1023.JPG

I did have a heartwarming experience earlier. Mowing bottom left corner of Hilo Far. Neighbor was down there having done something at the stream. A quick visit. About 15 minutes later we see Sophie coming in the Mule. First time she had ever driven Mule in that area. Can’t see in pic, but that area cannot be seen from the house as it is down slope and also a berm. No cell coverage.
Yes, she hadn’t seen or heard the tractor in a bit and came to make sure I was OK.

good morning all
great map David, looks like you could plant something interesting in Hilo Far. What is growing there now in those nice straight rows?

rain coming in soon, will rain all day, no big storm, just rain. Temps in mid 70's. Fine by me, if it's raining on Sunday morning, much quieter at church since no motorcycles
roaring past on main road. A pox on Honda Gullwing owners who crank their stereo up to the max on Sunday morning. Those bikes must have some serious speakers in them.
Just more noise... At least the Hondas are otherwise quiet going by. I do remember one Sunday that the noise did get a chuckle; someone had Sinatra's My Way cranked up and we could
hear all the words as they went by. Sinatra isn't too bad.....;)

We've talked about this before but I'm old fashioned, think there should be a lid on noise on Sunday morning. I seem to be in the minority .

hope you all have a lovely peaceful day

RS, be careful, sure you don't want to see a doc on that? Sorry you are so uncomfortable.
