often overlooked when evaluating an option such as solar is what you could have done with the money if invested elsewhere and the rate of return it would have generated for you. So putting 50 K into solar you need to consider what it could have earned

Changed oil in Subaru before breakfast, to make sure I got to it.
Got hair cut, then grabbed pit beef sandwich from a food stand at a local event.
Got home and started mowing, did around house and most of field.
Then dug 2 rows of potatoes, got 4 buckets. That wore me out. 1 more row to dig.
Overcast, rain moving in.

So she is traveling today to Wienna, Austria. What gives us some comfort is that she is traveling on diplomatic passport this time. We had many sleepless nights worrying about her travels in the past including one in the Sinai dessert where a bus was blown up and we knew she was traveling the area and we did not hear from her for a week. And then there were the attacks at the ATM in Cairo stealing her money and her running after the attacker to take him down. Not a good idea. Then the same thing happened in London and she in fact catch him. And then there was the incident on a bus south area of Egypt where he was trying to feel her up. She spoke up to the bus driver and got him set off in the middle of the desert miles from anywhere. And so many other incidents

Roy, I'm glad you didn't break anything. I hope you can do some PT to get your knee/leg stronger.

I'm being a couch potato today. Wore out from work this past week. My fitbit was happy for zone minutes and steps taken. Prolly not anything close to Billy's trips, and mostly's rides.

I need to change oil in the commuter car....if only it wasn't so hot. 93F feels like 95.

Probably shouldn’t be advertising that.

Wife has 7 more qts green beans canning. She’s giving about half a large grocery bag away.

The formula we developed included among other things cost of capital, cost to change and cost to run it and was used to evaluate process improvements during the design phase. As I remember in most cases if we did not get a 3 year pay out that design change would not be approved
Cost is certainly important, but there are other factors involved that Paul likely doesn't need to consider. One that I wrestled with are the frequent power outages instituted by PG&E (my electric utility) to prevent wildfires. I'm on a well, so imagine having your power turned off when you may need it the most to pump water and defend your home from flames! I don't think I'll ever recover the cost of my system, but the belt and suspenders setup with solar panels, whole house generator, and battery bank gives me confidence that my home will be safe should there be another forest fire.

Good evening! High temp today only hit 76°.... hazy sunshine, from both smoke from the west and high thin clouds. A t-storm passed to the west of us, not big at all. No rain.

Got the transfer case taken apart, after breaking my snap ring pliers. So a trip to our now local HF for a new pair. 45 minutes later and bearings are out. Well except for one.... it's a blind hole roller bearing. Can't just tap it out.....

So, contemplating leaving it in. It seemed to be tight, no noticeable damage. But, I don't know the tolerances. This bearing could be the culprit making the noise --- or not.....
It's the rear of the front output shaft, inside a 'cup'.

Any suggestions or comments from the machine experts here are welcome!
WOULD YOU GUYS LEAVE IT IN?

I can go try and rent a special puller, but I think it's too big by looking at the picture online.
The pullers I have are for pulleys, applying pressure to the center shaft. Saw a guy on YouTube crack the 'cup' using one like I have. I don't want to do that.

Good thing ---- no abdominal pain at all! I believe it was some new bug....

62°F and cloudy this morning, got up to 86° today, and now back down to 72° with light rain.

Was going to start mowing early this morning to try to get ahead of the predicted rain, but it got to us about five hours ahead of schedule. Rather inconsiderate. The sun came out long enough to dry things enough that I finally got started around 2pm. Got everything from the barn forward mowed. Not enough light left for the pasture, so it will have to wait for another day. Light rain falling here now, and heavier stuff possible overnight and into tomorrow.

Found half of a jaw bone between the barn and the chicken coop while I was mowing. Haven't checked the game cam yet, so no idea what left it there. Looks like it's probably from a deer.

Wife decided she wanted pizza for dinner, so I ordered for pickup from our favorite place in Highland. After leaving the house, got about a mile up the road and had to stop for a picture of the approaching clouds playing in the sunbeams and bringing us more rain. Quite scenic.
