68°F and .12 inches rain. A bit of respite.

Off to my friend Mark this morning to weld my bracket. Hopefully I can get it painted and installed by end of the day.

Got about half of my tear out 2x6s cleaned up and burned. Other half sitting in wheelbarrow. Leading repair solution is concrete. Should know better at my age to stay away from such a labor, but a 4 in slab would be better than replacing the 2x6s. Of course we are talking about 24 bags Quikcrete.
When I was doing my paver drive curbing I would do a pallet (42 - 50lb bags) a pour. I had a wheel barrow in front of the 2 bag electric mixer where I would cut the 50lb bags in half and then dump the 4 - 25lb halves in the mixer and add water with the hose as it was mixing to the right consistency. After about 3-6 minutes of mixing I would pour it into another wheelbarrow and take it to the framed curbing and dump it. 42 bags in a morning.

Turns out I am replacing 7 2x6’s. Needs to dry out first and think of a better way. Probably look for way to divert runoff. Of course, Sophie suggested a concrete floor from the beginning, like rest of the shed. I chose the expedient, cheaper method. Can you hear “I told you”. Yup

need a dog big enough to jump in a car. I don't want to pick up a 50 pound dog.
they may leap when they are young, but what about as a senior dog?

our 150 lb dog would just casually step into the vehicle :)

scaredy I have a 900sf cottage to live in. I think Don's dog ramp makes a lot of sense.
I wonder why some truck manufacturer hasn't offered that as a built in option. Lot of dogs in pickup trucks.
how do dogs deal with air bags and should they be restrained?

when I'm ready I'll do this.

weeded, trimmed shrubs, put electric cords away properly instead of a heap, came
in for a sports drink and then back out to vacuum car and check the tire pressure.
So far I'm very satisfied with the Goodyear Comfort Assurance. Top rated for wet and snow.
Will see next winter. Hard to worry about snow when I'm sweating.

Looking at Popgadget's shop I feel like his grandson Luca asking what's this do? and what's this do?
I know most...just not how to use them. Today I puzzled over a super heavy duty powered windlass that pulled cables though long
pipes. Nope, never seen one of those before...but from boating knew it was a windlass. Didn't look like anything I have ever seen
on a boat though.

Legs are tired but a few more miles before I slump.
Life is an adventure. Seems like I have to push on the throttle harder to keep up.

73F, moist with showers in the area @ 13:45, headed up to a high of around 76F. Scattered thunderstorms this afternoon, 40% chance of more rain.

There was a light rain when I initially woke up earlier. LWS reports 0.02" total since midnight, yesterday's total was 0.38" and the day before that was the same ... which appears to be enough to kept things green and growing, but not totally soaked.

Woman reports She was weeding the northwest planting bed under the hawthorn trees earlier, claims the ground was dry under the mulch.

Not sure what all is on the agenda for today, but Woman has requested a conference "before you go charging off outside ..."

Have not heard back from young neighbor, guessing dirt might be too wet for any Rockhounding.

Might be a good day to do some more planting or mulching ... if it isn't raining.

Woman just called me to have a look at this "bug" on her dahlias:

Hope everyone is having a great Monday ... (y)

look at this "bug" on her dahlias

oh dear dinner time
I wonder if dahlia bulbs are "sweet" before they open. Very pretty flowers. Very munchable.

I can see RS going to sleep on a lounge chair, guarding his dahlias, while his ice tea drips in the night air, his bb gun in his lap
until he is rousted by his wife who knows he will get a stiff neck sleeping like that.
Tell your wife you're on it RS. While you dream of 500 more feet of electric fence.
Of course you'll have a viewing and feeding station outside.
If you put out copper pennies, you will attract unicorns.

Conference with Woman accomplished.

Hopper and 1 suet feeder refilled.

Verified: Woman got northwest planting bed weeded ... (y)

Goes much quicker and easier when it's been mulched ... ;)

I started scooping out the weeds with the shrub/stump bucket in a planting hole that we had planted a shrub in a couple of years ago that didn't make it while She was loading the weeds into the dump cart. Then the skies opened up with a torrential downpour.

Currently a medium to light rain, total since midnight now up to 0.54" ... so about a 1/2" in about 10 to 15 minutes.

NWS has issued a Flood Advisory including Cuyahoga and Summit Counties.

Time to look at deer netting for the rhododendrons and other shrubs on Amazon.
