Good Morning.
It’s 70 with very light rain, high of 80 with more welcome rain forecast throughout the day.

Yesterday was a productive day at the airport, got the biplane all button upped and washed. Brought the new pressure washer and foam cannon. It worked very well, used the widest angle tip and kept a safe distance from the fabric surfaces to rinse it off after scrubbing with long handled brushes.

After it was all done and back in the hangar, the chief inspector gave it his seal of approval.

Later in the afternoon, I finished cleaning up the smoker, putting away all the stuff used in the prepping and cooking process, that stuff mostly lives in the shop, not the kitchen. Got it covered up before the rain.

Today I was supposed to have an early morning flight, I planned to leave the house before 5am, but it canceled last night, so I’ll be keeping myself busy around here. Probably have lunch with Drew and sharpen his drill bits afterwards.

Not sure what else, but there is always something that comes up to keep me busy.

Good morning!!!! 70F @ 5:30AM. Abundant sunshine. High near 100F. Winds light and variable.
Another cookie cutter weather day...

The level of Lake Oroville is down to 711 feet now, losing about 20' per month. If the past few years are any example, it'll be at another three months, maybe more, before we get any rain. We started with more water behind the dam this year than last, so I don't think we'll be making any hikes on the river bottom this year unless the authorities up the release rate. That's a possibility, because the V shape of the canyon means that each incremental drop in lake level releases progressively less water. They're trying to maintain the saline/fresh water boundary in the Sacramento River Delta where it enters San Frrancisco Bay, so they might drain the lake this year, too.

My friend Chris and his wife stopped by yesterday on their Sunday drive to drop off the replacement cylinder head. It's a match for the one that got lunched, so after stripping out the valves I put it into the dunk tank of the parts cleaner, along with three others, for a good soak to soften the combustion deposits and years of grime. One of those heads is off the other side of the red G/S, as it has the same valve disease that caused the first side to fail. The other two are spares I picked up years ago, and will now finally go off to have another spark plug hole machined into them. When they return, they'll go to a local machine shop for new valve seats and valves, springs, keepers, etc.

I also found that the brake and tail lights on the new bike weren't working because both filaments of the bulb were burnt out. It was replaced with an LED array, one that will hopefully outlive me.

Those shenanigans kept me busy for most of the day, out in a very warm garage but out of the hot sun. Today I'll be taking down the solar panel pole up at the gate, and getting it moved over to the new pivoting mount. I also wanna get a security cam mounted on it, and see if I can get the wires connected for a push button down at the house to open the gate remotely. Then there's a thermostatically controlled muffin fan that arrived yesterday that needs a bracket to rig it above a network switch out in the pump house.

Hope everyone's week starts off on the right foot.

Dallas is having flooding this morning, and supposedly up to 8" of rain in places, but I got up to see a light sprinkle that is still continuing and not enough breeze to amount to anything. And now my rain gauge has reached the one inch mark. Just couldm't ask for a better lawn watering. And it is continuing with no end in sight yet. And with a temperature of 71° going for a high of 81°; just couldn't ask for any better weather right now.

looks good, like they even buffed it! I have rebuilt my own, making Viton face seals to replace the old cracked ones. Gotta be careful. No oils on O2 stuff.
How much did they charge mind I ask?
As I recall the rebuild was 65 dollars.

successfully delivered muffins to landlady, PT lady and Popgadget.
Unsuccessful with drill bits...seems, ahem, I used multipurpose bits better suited for wood than metal, and none of the
five I wrecked were salvageable. Paul showed me what a true split point looks like. Clearly for metal, drilling the pilot hole properly
is important. I got a D in metal drilling and an F in tool usage.

68°F and .12 inches rain. A bit of respite.

Off to my friend Mark this morning to weld my bracket. Hopefully I can get it painted and installed by end of the day.

Got about half of my tear out 2x6s cleaned up and burned. Other half sitting in wheelbarrow. Leading repair solution is concrete. Should know better at my age to stay away from such a labor, but a 4 in slab would be better than replacing the 2x6s. Of course we are talking about 24 bags Quikcrete.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day
