Roy, it amazes me also the banks they have to mow along roads. I wonder why they don’t make the slopes lower to make it easier to maintain.

We got mostly wind last night from the storm. More storms on tap today.
Heading to the farm today. Not taking the trailer since calling for more storms. Was going to bring back my riding mower to diagnose what’s wrong. It can wait.
Will get loader on tractor for him and mower hooked up. And new switch for ceiling fan installed. No AC there.
Still not sure if my cell camera there is running on the adapter or batteries. Last time the cable was loose and it used batteries. Forgot to buy more to take, just in case.

Good Morning! 77˚F hopefully heading to only 100˚ with cloud cover and a 20% chance of rain, we will see.

Whippers vet visit went well yesterday, she had been limping pretty bad in the morning and the Vet prescribed her some Carprofen (doggie Advil). She was walking good this morning after only 2 doses yesterday.

We have baby okra, a lot, in 2-3 days the daily pickings will commence and cornmeal battered bake okra will be a daily snack.

I picked 4 pounds of the garden's tomatillos yesterday and made a batch of Salsa Verde sauce which will cover the enchiladas today.

Good Morning.
72 and will top 90 with a good chance of showers later.
Got 1/2” of rain overnight, if this keeps up the spectrum might move from browns to greens.

Yesterday I did get the mower serviced, and only used one tube of grease. Pulled it around into the shade, which was gone by the time I finished. It was not comfortable in the sun, like others, it didn’t take long to be soaked with sweat.
Last outside chore was to see what’s up with the WI-FI monitor on the propane tank the reports the level. It. It was reading high, and then stopped reporting altogether. Coincidentally after I pressure washed the tank. I opened it up and tested the batteries which were good, removed the Hall effect sensor from the gauge, removed the magnetically coupled gauge from the tank, everything looked good. The gauge on the tank is reading correctly, but the monitor now reads low, but did upload the data. I cleaned the Hall effect pickup, hopefully it will get back on track. I am waiting for a call back from tech support for suggestions.

Last chore was to add a surge protector and 20a breaker for the new Mitsubishi heat pump I’m picking up after I eat my Special K. The old Sanyo required a 30a so that’s a good sign for starters. I also moved the feed to the generator panel, the old one did not.transfer.

I’m pointing at the new breaker.

I’ve got to get going, after I pick up the new heat pump, I’ve got to take 8 cartons of alpaca fleece to FedEx to ship them to the mill for processing. Music tonight, a friend wants me to help with some engineering for a project he’s working on, so I won’t be bored today. Tomorrow I’ve got to go to Lansing, first trip I’ve had to take in a month or so.

As I was driving to work this morning, I thought of something I was looking at a couple days ago when driving home...
The roadside mowing is going on on I-89 (highway through Vermont and New Hampshire). These guys are mowing with big cab tractors (Masseys, I think) with a 10' cutter. They're mowing across slopes (some easily 40° or more) that I wouldn't feel safe driving my tractor up or down. I'm not even sure I'd want to walk on those slopes!
Some of the tractors do have duals, others just single wheels. All the ones I've seen this year had single rear wheels. These operators must have serious cojones
Also notice Roy...NH operators have mostly open cabs with 5 gallon ice cooler strap on,and they show no mercy.

That panel is too clean, no neutral or grounds.

The R80ST was the street version of the R80 G/S, the bike that started the whole "adventure" riding craze. The ST has a 19" front wheel vs. the 21"er on the G/S, and I think the forks are a bit different, too. I'm hoping for a lower seat height on the ST. The 800cc engine has a reputation for being very smooth. The later 1000cc engines vibrate more than a horizontally opposed twin should because BMW didn't take time to balance the reciprocating mass of the pistons and rods. I've found that modern CNC machined pistons are almost perfectly balanced, and pretty much solve the problem.

Prices are all over the map on the STs, close to $10k for a low mile bike in excellent condition to a high mileage beater that's rusted and faded from sitting outside, which will still bring $3k all day long. The STs haven't reached the stratospheric levels of the G/Ss, which I've seen sold for $20k. This one was a particularly good deal because it looks to be in very good condition with only 44k miles, and it came with a $500 aftermarket seat and the larger 8.75 gallon tank from the Paris Dakar version of the R80 G/S. I paid $1500 for the last one of those I was able to find.

Finally found a shipper that seems reliable and uses a Sprinter van, but my pocket is another $500 lighter. Still less than it would cost me to run up there and back myself, and I don't have to worry about getting home in a truck with nearly 200k miles on it. Just have to be patient and wait another two weeks for it to arrive.
Thank you for the very informative post. Hope the bike is a good one.
