<snip>
Dr Reported Sophie had some eye improvement, new meds, back in 30 days.
<snip> great!! Just came back from ferrying my almost 98 year old MIL to the Eye Doctor for a checkup for her cataract surgery last year, all good.

Eyes are important!
/edit - don't know how I got my reaction inside the quote and didn't notice it,

Have been using starting fluid to take them out in the air, but think I'm now out of that ... unless there is another can down here at the house. Could use brake cleaner as well, but don't want to be spraying that if I'm going to be welding (toxic fumes)
For getting individual wasps 'in the air' (and even 'closing up' a nest) I've found that ordinary hair-spray works. It coats them in stickiness and they drop to the ground to be stepped on.

With the nest, the entrance gets sticky/plugged so that you can safely knock it down and, again, step on it. You then monitor the old nest site as any wasps that were away will try to rebuild in the same spot.

Good late (Friday) morning. Overnight Low of 7C, clear night and rain has started @ 0900. The High may get to 14C.

I'll get to 'whacking' the woodheater chimney (internal portion) today as I needed to let the heater fully cool. I've got a 'cathedral' ceiling and need to stand on top of the heater to reach the highest portion of the chimney before it pierces the roof.

Chance of some rain is predicted every day for the next week.

Take care all.

70F and partly cloudy @ 21:15, heading down to a low of 70F overnight apparently.

West side of garden area tilled (before the 1st rain) + plus some rocks gathered up and taken up and added to the compost pile.

Came inside and grated zucchini for The Woman to make brownies while waiting for the rain to stop, also three bags shredded for the freezer (3 cups each)

A small chain located after that - not THE SMALL CHAIN I was looking for - but it did the job(s)

Black locust post extracted from up at the shop after the tilling, managed it without damaging the gutter or the downspout (was directly underneath):

After that I went back to screening compost and manure, as this was rolling in:

Waited too long and got caught in the rain and ducked inside the shop. Noticed a few Yellowjackets still flying around in there, did a little clean up while waiting for the rain to stop.

Rained fairly fast and hard with that one:

Hopefully get some more tomorrow. Closest local weather station reports 0.50" since midnight.

Extracted the pipe I hit with the tiller, probably 2" in diameter and 3' long:

... was in the ground almost vertically but doesn't appear to have been connected to anything. Probably just construction debris.

Momma deer and her three young ones made an appearance this afternoon while I was screening:

Hauled down about another dozen bucketloads of screened compost/manure, also started replenishing the screened material pile.

Probably just a weed, but I thought it was pretty:

Woman ran out to Quail Hollow with Her neighbor friend for a little Bluegrass festival this evening, I knocked off early and came in and had some of the stuffed peppers She made earlier.

About to go have some of those brownies ... 😍

Hope everyone had a great day ... (y)

good morning all
hot stormy summer weather today, up to low 90's this afternoon in storms.
headed to pain doc this morning to happily tell him epidural on neck really helped.
What probably helped more was my not mowing too much and behaving myself this time.
But that's no fun...

lab reports came back showing nothing out of wack; no explanation why I feel weak and a little dizzy at times.
I'm wondering if it's the generic prozac they put me on for my Meniere's/ear problems. Hasn't helped my ear much, so going to
stop taking it and see if I feel any different.
The last time the docs couldn't figure out why I didn't feel well turned out to be when they discovered my cancer, so not going to dismiss anything
that may be warning signs. Likely nothing, just falling apart as I get older...

RS, good to see your Kubota running again. Congrats on getting it fixed.

Buppies, take it slow and feel better. Do sports drinks help?

As I was driving to work this morning, I thought of something I was looking at a couple days ago when driving home...
The roadside mowing is going on on I-89 (highway through Vermont and New Hampshire). These guys are mowing with big cab tractors (Masseys, I think) with a 10' cutter. They're mowing across slopes (some easily 40° or more) that I wouldn't feel safe driving my tractor up or down. I'm not even sure I'd want to walk on those slopes!
Some of the tractors do have duals, others just single wheels. All the ones I've seen this year had single rear wheels. These operators must have serious cojones

71 outside this AM. Heading to mid 90's. Lighting storms came through last night. Little sprinkles was about it. Daughter captured some intense videos of lighting over on the western horizon. A lot of energy there.

Yesterday working on the Milk house I noted my shirt was totally soaked. Not just the muscle ripples (LOL) and back shoulders, then I noted my pants were a little wet too. I knew I did not have an accident, and there was no faulty plumbing or hose laying about. It was just that hot and humid. LOL. I finished up framing a door shut and headed inside straight to the washing machine. Ugh. My goal this weekend is to wrap that one side, and cover it in vinyl. I should be able to do that as the grass maintenance only needs the walk of shame with the weed whacker. Of course the weather has to cooperate for either task.

Lots of new toys for the morning crew, a hard working bunch too. I am looking forward to the time in my life where I can just be engaged with maintenance of my house and property. No professional job, no personal drama, no lawyers, no more "remodeling" and no more stuff..... LOL.

Hope all have a great day, and weekend, as always, be safe....and to those ailing...get better.
