Thank you all for the nice words. We are still hurting, but passing in your sleep might just be the best way to go. Not sure, still awaiting the autopsy.

Going to be a long week ahead.

Mostly, sorry about your wipeout. At least the wire wasn't neck high.

Very windy and hot. 30mph plus. Just tune into CBS pga golf to see how windy it is.

A friend came over last night. We grilled burgers, son made brownies, enjoyed a couple of beers, and had some good talk.

Nice plane pics Rich.

Prayers for our team.

For you skywatchers...saw this on the local news/weather site...it references Virginia, so check your local source if interested.

There could be a once in a lifetime experience to see in the night sky Monday night into early Tuesday morning.

A meteor storm is possible from midnight to 2am late Monday night into early Tuesday morning. If it happens, we could see more than 1,000 meteors per hour - but it’s not a guarantee. Most meteor showers have less than 100 meteors per hour, so this would be an incredible sight if it happens.

In 1995, a comet called 73p/Schwassmann-Wachmann broke up into fragments. Astronomers at NASA say those fragments could reach earth Monday night into Tuesday morning and if that happens, we would see the tau Herculid meteor shower. If the fragments don’t reach earth, we won’t see much of anything.

There are a couple of factors working in our favor to see the meteor shower. The sky will be clear in Virginia with no clouds expected Monday night, and there is a new moon, so no moonlight will interfere with seeing meteors.

You don’t need a telescope to see the meteor shower - in fact, you shouldn’t use a telescope. Just find a dark spot away from city lights and look up to the night sky facing south for the best chance to see the meteors.

72F and Clear @ 21:00, heading down to a low of 63F overnight. High hit 86.9F ... a little warmer than the 80F high they were calling for. Going to be a warm one tomorrow.

Sprayed 3 gallons of glyphosate with the hand pump sprayer today and a good bit done: southwest corner of the house + 1/2 of the west side of the frog pond, around the redbud on the west side as well as the oak tree next to it, all across the back of the frog pond, under electric fence on east side of frog pond, east side of house, edge of east planting bed, around the hawthorn in the east yard closest to the driveway, and the around the large maple on the east side with the evergreen shrub. Definitely slower than the Fimco with the electric pump though.

Refilled hopper feeder.

A chipmunk got into a 7 lb. bag of sunflower seeds in the garage - it was on top of the car - and knocked it off and tore it open. So after I cleaned that mess up (and put the sunflower seeds in a metal can with a lid) I set up the first chipmunk trap and baited it. Need to do another one tomorrow.

Then I made the run into the hardware store and Harbor Freight. Missed the hardware store by about 8 minutes (already closed), but HF was still open so I slipped in there and scored one of those telescoping gauge sets. They are currently out of the micrometer sets but the store down in Canton supposedly has those in stock so I may slip down there tomorrow and use my 25% off coupon on those.

Slid by Dunkin on the way out of the lot and got a medium iced coffee (cream and sugar + Butter Pecan)

After I got back I finished mowing the front lawn.

Inspected Nest Box No. 1 - has at least three white tree swallow eggs in it ... (y)

Woman stopped at the grocery on the way home and got some supplies + Hebrew National dogs - so we had dogs grilled under the broiler with Castleberry's Original Hotdog Chili Sauce + Bush's Baked Beans (Country Style)

Was getting bad cramps in my left hand so bit the bullet and had a heaping teaspoon of French's ... at this point they seem to have subsided.

After dinner I went out and mowed the compost/wood lot.

Woman was asleep on the couch when I came in from doing that ... and she still hasn't stirred ...

Ferns have really popped in the circle in the last week or so:

The Pre-Memorial day military concert was great!
During one part they have a montage of military division songs and when they announce the division at the start of the song anyone who was in that division or had a relative in that division was asked to stand up. They said it was a good night when they had people from each division stand up, the one that usually has no one standing is the Coast Guard, we had a dozen stand - so they said it was a good night. The only division that did not have anyone standing yet, was the new U.S.Space Force division. And yes they have their own song called "The Invincible Eagle".

Good early arvo. A clear night/day, low of 1.2C and presently 17.1C. whisper of a breeze and a brief shower last evening put 1.4mm in the gauge.

Well, it looks like the 4th horse won't be coming as the lady (smitten by a horse) has realised just how much is entailed in owning and taking care of a horse. :)

Take care all.

55° right now...high in the mid-80's...

Left foot is feeling much better.... right foot isn't as bad, so maybe I'll get some work done today. I'll know more when I try to put shoes on this morning

Same plan as yesterday...rig the chipper and do some downed branches
