Good morning!!!!

I ordered a 30 inch push shovel with wheels, made in US, little more than chinese stuff but looked durable.
Slightly angled, it should mean only four straight passes down the driveway. Am thinking my high performance snow blower was a bit
of overkill.

Roy, with large gravel, not much powered works well I'm finding out. I need either a top coat of finer gravel, which would help, or paving.
Snowblowers are meant for pavement; I've used on gravel before with skids all the way up, but this current model seems like a vacuum for stones.
The other option is, of course, to hire somebody...
This kind of manual work is tough on we older guys...especially those of us who aren't in such good physical condition (your bad back and neck, my bad back and not so great heart)

20 going to 43...a warm-up for sure. Half of our snow is already melted from sunshine.

Eric, glad you got your trigger okay...see, we don't hoard everything. ;)

Buppies, I see what you mean about .44-40.

But Roy, you know you love getting out early and moving snow with your tractor!

Didn't do too much yesterday, but did some more tracking of deer, coyote, rabbit, skunk, and fox back in the woods...Saturday night looked like it must have been party night based on all of the tracks.

Good morning, low temp is 6 and going to a high of 16°F. Wind ENE 7 mph. 30% chance of flurries.
More snow in the long range forecast.

Off to North Bay this morning for the monthly shopping trip.

daugen, when I used to blow the driveway, I would back drag the gravel driveway for the first few small snows and that would pack the gravel down AND help it freeze in. Then attack the larger snows with the blower. That was with the tractor. With the walk behind blower I wouldn't bother with the Pain In The Azz 2 to 3" snow falls. Just drive on them and that would pack it all down.

My Grandfather (RIP) had a heart attack at age 48, my Dad (RIP) had his first at age 55, both partied heartily.
I am 75 and haven't had one yet, and I partied harder than both of them put together, just different poisons than them. I do NOT shovel snow, period!
I spent 30 grand on my snow shovel and use that to move snow. IF I get stuck (and I have 4 times since 2012) I just call a tow truck.

Have a safe day all

Yeah, I do...but I can't do everything with the tractor...such as the walks and back deck.
Best I can do with those areas is hit them fairly frequently, before too much accumulation (especially if it a wet snow)

Our forecast this week (Thursday into Friday) totals 15"-16" between the 2 days. The tractor/snowblower can easily handle that, but I'll get out there a couple times so we can drive out (I may not have to go anywhere...but my stepdaughter might)
The walks are done with a non-self-propelled blower...that can be difficult if more than 4" of wet snow or 6" of powder. Back deck is with a snow shovel job.

Ain't getting any younger...ticker ain't what it used to be, nor is my back. I reckon there's a lot of TBNers in snow belt areas in the same situation

Good morning.
7 degrees with a high of 30 for today.

Yesterday’s trip went very well. Had a nice lunch at 30,000 feet where it was -40 outside. Sunny and 45 in Hilton Head. Warm for me, cold for them. But a huge improvement over the snow packed ramps at Philly. A good thing about a turbo prop is that you don’t need brakes with the ability to reverse the props, and you can maneuver on slippery surfaces like a skid steer. As you can see, that wasn’t an issue in Hilton Head.

Got home in time to have a nice visit with son and his fiancé, older son is out of town, so DIL and grandson joined us as well. He wanted to go in the tractor, so we cleaned up some drifting snow in the lane which made him very happy. Had a nice dinner, and called it a day.

Not sure what today will bring, but I’m sure that the day will go by quickly, something always comes up to keep me busy.

Good Morning!!!! 45F @ 4:00AM. Sunny to partly cloudy. High 64F. Winds NNW at 5 to 10 mph.
No need to mention the 10-day.

Sorry to hear the snow blower turned out to be a stone thrower, Drew. but it sounds like it at least started easily, right?

Years ago I put a Timney trigger on a M77 and never liked it. It has a little jump in it right before it broke. Please let us know how you like the new one, Eric, as it would be great to pull out an old thorn. BTW, to even up the international trade imbalance, last month a couple of Shield RDSs made it over this way...

There was a movers strike when I first came to California, David, and I spent the first month with just a lawn chair and an air mattress for furniture, along with a few pots and pans I picked up at Walmart to help keep myself fed. But at least the half duplex I rented had a dishwasher, the kind that sat under the kitchen counter and operated with a push of a button. Here I am all these years later seriously considering bailing out of the state and the lack of a real dishwasher in your caretakers quarters has dashed any hope I had of moving to Hawaii so I could help you out on your next project.😂

Though I still have more to do, gasket scraping yesterday wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. First I tried a plastic scraper blade, which got laughed at, then a heat gun with the same result. The gasket didn't think a MAAP gas torch was very funny, though, as it turned all white and glowed around the edges before it almost fell off by itself. A fine wire brush and a paper towel with contact cleaner finished the job nicely. Managed to get the timing cover back on, then remount the diode board, alternator, and ignition trigger, and that was it for the day. This is turning out to be one of those jobs best savored in small doses.

On a brighter note, the smart doorbell I sent back to Ubiquiti for repair two weeks ago came back as a brand new unit Saturday, and fired right up yesterday when I installed it. Nice to have a camera looking out the front door again, even though it's a rare event anyone ever goes to it other than myself.

Here's hoping everyone gets their week started off on the right foot, or snow boot...

Morning all! An even zero here with very little wind. Lots of sun today going to around 27.
I grabbed a pic of the cleaned up area this morning.
I need to leave the camera on and get some action shots of the tractor. Maybe next storm.
Everyone stay safe and healthy!

Morning all, 11 going up to 31 and partly cloudy out.

Kitchen cabinet started coming off the wall. Spent a while clearing it out/off and put another 2 screws in after forcing it back to the wall. Will need to remove trim and put shims on there.
Think when they redid the floors, shims were not used.

Got my test results, cholesterol is back up....so had a talk with the ms. and we will adjust the diet and I am back to more salads. Been using the StairMaster since I haven't been able to spend as much time outside-below 20 and windy is not conducive to outside work for me.

Stay safe and be well,

With temps above 100F when we were there, China was fun for me, but the pollution was the worst I have ever seen in my travels. The whole flight to Xian from Beijing we never left the pollution cloud behind.

And we took the luge down and the chairlift up to the wall.

Good morning! 8° now, low 30's later today. Supposed to be the first day above freezing in the last 14 days or something like that. Forecast for Wednesday/Thursday/Friday is interesting. Storm track is going to make a big difference on what happens here.

I have used a snow blower over gravel for years. It seems it is simply not possible to not throw some gravel. I set the cutting edge and skid shoes so I have a good ½" above a level surface. Downside is it leaves some snow on the sidewalk, but greatly reduces the amount of gravel it picks up on the drive.

Everyone stay safe out there!
