Good morning.
It’s 32 with a high of 50 forecast with clear skies.
First frost of the year this morning.

Yesterday actually was overcast and intermittent light showers all day. Sort of a chilly, gloomy day. A good day to spend inside, which is pretty much what I did. It was a light turnout at the polls, didn’t take long to vote, I’m not a fan of the new voting machines though. You get a big card with ovals to fill in for your selections, then the card gets fed into a scanning machine. Filled the Prius with $3.29 gas (after using grocery store points).
A friend brought over a dehumidifier for me to reclaim the refrigerant so he could scrap it, then we went out to lunch. When I got back, had to put the loader on the tractor, so neighbor could spread stone in this driveway. He works for township pubic works, so I’m comfortable with him using it, and besides I didn’t feel like it.
In between, I kept the cleanup moving along.

Today will start the same way, might take a friend up to Groton, CT to pick up his airplane from maintenance. There is a submarine museum that I would love to checkout if we can work it out. We will see how it plays out.

Morning all, 36 when I walked the dog this morning.
Polling rules in PA-10 feet from the door. Guess so they can see in to the voting booths??

Drew - safe travels
PopG- I was in Groton when I was pretty young- loved all the ships there.

Finally got permission to start taking the halloween decorations down, freeze + rain. So will be a bit soggy today.

Stay safe and be well and glad Mostly got his nap.
🐶 🏠

Went to clean and cover the kids Lawn Tractor, and this little guy was trying to drive off with it

good morning all
brrrrrr, 33 degrees out

Toppop, good post. Thankfully my school is a K-8 and I miss most of the politics.
But first question I asked when on the board was when was the last time we reviewed what history
we teach and updated text books. Gratified to hear they were right on top of it.
School spends enormous time and effort on DEI, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Kids are taught to respect
and love each other as equals. And in our lily white community we have been successful in attracting children of color and
different economic means. Not easy to do because most private schools are hunting in the same area for new students and admin.

I spent an hour last night watching one of those educational videos explaining how most of the world had slaves at one point, up to a third of Rome were slaves..., and
there was a slow transition from slavery to serfdom in Europe. The haves have a poor track record of abusing the have nots, but that's our world history.
So while slavery is a shameful part of the American past, it was also pretty common throughout the world. And many freed slaves went directly into serfdom.
The haves need manpower to grow the food and build the products, so first it was the slaves and then the serfs. Sounds like a prelim story on why unions came about...

not heading south til about 8:30am so plenty of time to putter and get house ready for leaving. I will set the thermostat down to 64 and probably should turn the water off outside.

assuming my laptop fires up, should be back on line this afternoon. Headed out the turnpike and then down route 15. Decided if I can avoid Rt 95 for the rest of my life, that would be just fine...of course I have to drive on 95 tomorrow to get to NC. Got my Ezpass updated so I'm ready to cruise. I wonder how much my mpg will improve. Currently sitting
at a dismal 16.2

I wish my Ram got 16.2 mpg, mine is closer to 14.5.

34 earlier, headed to 54. Big old frost.

My septic warning light is on, don’t know if the pump quit, light shorted or tanks full. I guess I’ve gotta figure it out. Always something.

My father in law found out Sunday that his last living brother in Colorado has been diagnosed with bone cancer and given two to six weeks.

I have to start running down the septic issue. Have a good day.

30°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 52° today. Definitely chilly here.

Mostly_, my Wife heard me using language inappropriate to repeat here, and stuck her head out the door to ask what was going on. When I showed her the broken part sticking out of the hose, she said, "Oh," and went back inside and closed the door. :ROFLMAO:

Good Morning!!!! 54F @ 6:15AM. Partly cloudy skies. High 71F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph.
Rain returns tonight with another quarter inch spritz. Then more rain Saturday, Monday, and Tuesday. Let it rain!

Whipper looks happy and healthy, Don. Let's hope she stays that way. Do back sleeping dogs snore like people do?

No elections here yesterday, but I wish they'd put Daylight Savings Time back on the ballot. This time to make it year 'round.

I think I'd hide in an air raid shelter if I saw that sky outside, Doug. Very nice outcome for the missing little girl, too.

I'd like to find a good hose reel, Paul. The one here leaks between the rotary and stationary parts. But not enough to get rid of it, yet.

Good luck with the septic system, Randy.

Yesterday I found what was left of a lizard under the stump that supports the Kindling Kracker. Flatter than a pancake and missing a tail. Didn't look like Tasty, though.

burnPiles.jpg

Got the burn pile cleaned up yesterday. Lots of leaves on the branches sent out lots of embers, but everything was wet and there wasn't much wind, so it was no problem. There was a big stump at the bottom of the pile, and there's still plenty of it left for the next time around. Toward the end of the burn I started wandering around on the tractor and gathering up fallen branches, and drug one tree in. Bucked it with the chainsaw while it was held in the grapple, and tossed the branches right into the fire. Very convenient!

sutterButtesSunset.jpg

It was a clean air day, and the Sutter Buttes were showing in the sunset.

campFire.jpg

Found time to spend around the camp fire, too. Not a bad way to end the day.

Found time to post some video of that old motorcycle, too.

Happy Hump Day, folks!

Good morning! 54˚F raining heading up to 56 as a high today.

The local school kids will not be getting a $23 million swimming pool for the swim team financed by the tax payers. They will have to continue to use the YMCA pool. The hefty bill for resurfacing of the tennis courts also got nixed. The town did vote to be able to sell alcohol in newly annexed areas so the new HEB can sell wine and beer.

I have not heard Whipper snore on her back.

Good day for knee exercising indoors and cooking.

I don't know how everyone else's voting went, but the newspaper this morning says all the changes on the ballet here passed yesterday, with closest one, as you would expect, being one that allows counties to tax us a bit more.

Yesterday evening, last night, into this morning, we've had a total of about 1.2" of needed rain and temperatures in the mid-40s which suits me just fine,

I found one after total frustration on the plastic ones.
They also sell this one on Amazon. Expensive but well worth it.
Mine has been outside for two Texas summers and the great Texas Freeze and is still like new.
