Did you join AARP?
No. They seem to have a political agenda that doesn't align with my core beliefs, so I can't support such an organization. They've been mailing me stuff for years already, which I recycle back to nature ... or wherever the garbage man takes it.

sitting here kind of sore
back was bothering me yesterday, probably sitting too long in unsupportive seats in church.
But off to PT this morning and she gave me some exercises for my back and some heat for it which she didn't have to do.
Then off to go walking along the Towpath near the Delaware River, since the rains have stopped for a while (but coming week's forecast is pretty wet actually)
and the dirt path is not a mudhole. Very pleasant walk, passed my old personal best, the Texas Eastern pipeline, and then forged North to my destination which was the next bridge
over the Canal. That bridge turned out to be a very small car bridge leading to about 8 homes situated right down along the banks of the River.
I was here in 1955. These people are simply nuts to live there, because it all will wash away again, they haven't built much flood control up river.
But until the big one comes, what a beautiful place to live, down along the river banks. Like a certain children's book...

I was dragging by the time I made it back to the car. Figured I had walked at least a mile and a half.
Back was hurting, starting to sweat, that was all I had in me.
And then to my dismay I took the time to measure the distance between the parking lot and the little canal bridge, and it was only
about 2200 feet each way. 4400 feet. Not even a mile. :cautious:
So...my next somewhat pitiful goal is to get up to two laps.

several other plodders on the path but pretty quiet walking this morning.
one guy on an offroad bicycle roared past me doing at least 20 mph, there was a real humming in his
offroad tires. Just like a big truck... And then another couple went by in matching offroad balloon tired bikes with big
seats that looked quite plush. They were in no rush.

That return bridge just seemed to get further and further away...
which truly shows why I have to go back and do it some more.
I went from being in decent shape with a bad back two years ago to
a jellyfish last year due to months of being hospitalized.
This house is just too small for me to put in a treadmill so have to get my walking outside which is just fine
because there are interesting places to walk locally not far away.

So I'm sitting here kind of sore.
However since no whining headed out to sharpen those mower blades on my new grinder, first time I've had a white
fine wheel on a grinder. Will report back.

Paul, I used an older version of that light, 100W 7 years ago on the back side of my barn, lighting up some storage areas.
The 100W light lit up that area almost like daytime. I can just imagine what doubling that would be.
And I paid for one light what you paid for two (nice coupon) and you got twice as many lumens.
good deal

RNG, I would be tempted to put a heat hood on those outdoor outlets after all that work.
I wasn't sure what you meant by heat hood, Don, and even more surprised by what came up when I plugged that term into Amazon.

Do you mean a sort of sun shade, maybe made from sheetmetal, to keep radiant heating away?

My initial concern was that both the Ethernet extender box and the network switch put off a fair amount of heat, and the waterproof box they're in won't allow any cooling air to circulate. But the weather here is perfect for testing whether or not the components can "take the heat" or not.

I may have to go to a metal box to at least get some conductive cooling, and maybe even a sunshade that would allow some screened ports to be drilled into the box. I'll just have to see.

I joined AARP when I turned 55, only to find out it's nothing more than an easy way for a marketing organization to get it's hooks into a large fraction of the ageing population. I also don't like their politics, and quit after one year. As you found, they love to fill up the mailbox with their trash.

Now imagine my chagrin when I had to join them again this year in order to qualify for the Medicare Plan G I wanted to get through United Healthcare. I can cancel the AARP membership after one year, but if that hadn't been the case I think I would have looked for another plan. I learned they love to fill up your email box with SPAM, but found an opt-out page on their website. I had to call them on the phone to opt-out of their USPS mailings, but they still slip advertising into the paper statements they send me.

Initially I was thinking of a little Nomex hood to slip on all your stand alone outdoor outlets when you are to evacuate because of wildfire progression. Then I saw some sheet metal boxes and thought they would be good also with an air space. Mostly for external heat not internal heat.

66°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 82° today.

Had a long weekend, taking Thursday and Friday off from work to do some stuff with The Wife. Didn't do much internet over the weekend, so I have some catching up to do here.

Celebrated the completion of my 55th trip around the sun yesterday. Guess I'm officially a "senior" now. Stopped at McDonald's on the way to work this morning to get my "senior coffee." :ROFLMAO: Sent a picture of the receipt to my Wife, and she called me a dork. Fair enough.
Congrats on your 55th trip around☀️ Paul, wishing you many more. (y)

senior coffee always tasted good

Now RNG, you could stay cool and fashion something easily out of your extensive collection
of tin foil hats.
heh heh heh
After all they make pretty good radiators. Keep off UV, ultrasonic waves from government transmitters,
even good for preventing alien brain snatching.
maybe something custom from a metal folding colander.
Sized for your application of course.
Mine has a fan built in, with a Turbo setting of course.

I'll look that up Lou thank you.
I always thought AARP was primarily an insurance organization
and not exactly what folks thought it was. You get constantly solicited for insurance
of some sort in my experience.
So good there are alternatives.

Yep, I joined once, then saw their political crap, and never renewed.

66°F snd .0 inches rain and sunshine. A pretty morning

Some visible progress in caretaker unit, drywall in bath is primed. Was positive I had primer in my paint inventory. Sure couldn’t find any, so an unplanned trip to HD.

More progress today

Zoom Happy Hour this afternoon as we continue to backpedal with COVID cases continuing to rampage among the unvaccinated. Couple local eateries have retreated to take out only.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day
