64 going to 84...a nice cool few days forecasted.

Happy 69 Randy! Sounds like you had a good, big celebration and treats to eat. Enjoy today!

Thomas, did your legs turn green from mowing wet grass in shorts? I've done that.

We had water come in around the sewer pipe (goes to the septic tank) last night. I've never seen that before....didn't last long (maybe 5-6 minutes), but I'll check for any damage and use the shop vac to clean up when the stepdaughter wakes up
Most of the water has evaporated and the walls are dry.
I need to climb in the crawl space and see why that water came through the wall and how best to ensure it doesn't happen again
Granted, we need the rain, but not at such an intensity. I've heard there were a number of washouts between here and Randolph (about 6 miles north). The road is bordered by embankments....most dirt, so washouts aren't surprising

Happy Birthday, Randy!!!

Yesterday afternoon, the TV was interrupted by a severe weather warning for our county, then we got a nice little shower, no wind, that put about two-tenths of an inch in my gauge; no severe weather at all. This morning, I put the garbage out front about 5:30 a.m. and it was not raining; came right back in and went out back just as it started to sprinkle, and I found about .47" of water in the rain gauge; don't know whether it happened before or after midnight. Then at 6 a.m. it got a bit noisy and I looked out to see a real downpour. Sure glad I mowed yesterday morning.

We're supposed to have the A/C technician here before noon to do his 6 month inspection and/or service on our home A/C system. Hope it ain't raining when he gets here.

Good morning
It’s 60 and might barely make it to 80 today with clear skies.
Yesterday’s rain totaled just over 1/2”.

Lazy inside day yesterday, helped wife with a few projects, put a few things away, played some music with neighbors, and called it a day.

Today I’ve got to put the forks on the tractor and unload a trailer load of flooring made from old barn oak for my son’s project. Probably have to do it in the road.
Might actually get the plane buttoned up today if the flooring shows up early enough.

<snip>Why should those that have already been vaccinated have to go back to wearing masks to protect those that have chosen not to protect themselves?

I'm glad you asked that.

It isn't just about protecting those who have chosen not to protect themselves - although that would certainly be an admirable goal.

The virus is mutating and evolving ... and likely will continue to do so.

Every person who acquires (or reacquires) the virus serves as an incubator for further mutations, some of which could possibly be worse than what we are dealing with now.

Better to reduce the opportunities for those mutations to occur and spread ... rather than finding out later that we wished we would have when something worse ends up coming down the pike.

It's certain an inconvenience - especially for those in hotter parts of the country - but it may well pale in comparison to what could evolve if we don't.
What he wrote - keep the mutants down!

RNG, my BIL sent these pictures of Lake Orville. First picture is 3 years ago. Is this correct?

Also impressive is the view from Google Earth, where you can easily step through historical imagery.

Almost forgot, my wife had cherry, peach, apple and blueberry pies for me, I like pies better than cakes. Now to resist the leftovers.
Randy, Resistance is futile, just succumb to the Borg pies. Happy 69th!
Thomas, that is a wild morning's turn of events. Hope the owners sees the managers "managing" as an overstep and restores your 20hr position and the company does not get run into the ground.

Good morning. 76˚F heading only to the mid 80s with the cool front that pushed through. Very cloudy chance of rain.

The pitter patter of light rain woke me this morning and it was very light total .01" Tempest, (.03" in the rain gauge on the same pole) one shower at 6:30 A.M. and one at 7:40 A.M. lasting 10 minutes each. Bird, the Tempest weather station records the amount, intensity, duration and time of each rain event. On my Tempest the amount it is close but usually a bit less than the rain gauge says and Popgadget's Tempest usually shows a bit more, David's seems to be the most accurate.
