67F and cloudy @ 13:00, headed up to a high of 71F with a 15% chance of a stray shower or thunderstorm. Not seeing much on the radar though.

Another 0.47" of precipitation added since midnight.

Looks wet outside, calling for winds out of the NW @ 10 - 15 mph, so will need to check later and see if it has dried up at all. If so, then possibly some mowing.

In the meantime continue with paperwork sort out and filing, handle some email, feed fish, probably a few other items as well.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ... (y)

Just about two weeks now that afternoon temperatures have been over 100 degrees. Last night's weather forecast said that winds have shifted and Nevada's pristine blue skies would be obscured by smoke from the California wildfires. Sure enough, right after dawn this morning there was a smoke plume moving in from the west to where I could no longer see the mountains that way.

By 0800 the smoke had moved in, as can be seen in this photo of a herd being moved around my fenceline:

That reminds me of LA smog. Hope it passes through quickly.
Last year we got smoke here on the east coast from the fires.
Nice neighborhood deserteagle.

Saw the show about FIL house, some of it was funny/made up (drama).
We met the couple who bought the house and they are really nice. Will have to stop by there sometime to say hi.
Really tough renovation for them, glad they are sticking with it. Many things we would not have done, but it's there house and we are so very happy they did no knock it down for something newer.
I can hear my wife commenting on everything in the other room, she grew up in that house.

good morning all
raining lightly, .74 so far, and continuing today on and off.
With the exception of the three new trees/shrubs that's enough water to make the flowers and veggies happy.

this house is so small I thought I could keep up with the cleaning myself. Think I'm going to treat myself to a house cleaning every two weeks, like
I did before. Cleaning baseboards and other bend all the way over tasks are not easy for me. And cleaning behind the toilet is clearly a job we would all
like someone else to do....

And having said that on a rainy day that's what I'll be doing this morning, vacuuming, mopping, etc.

I have a big green stain near the drain on my shower/tub. Does green mean too much iron? too acid?
I need to get a water filter system here like I had before too.
daugen I feel your pain. Cleaning at our age is a woe. I would love to get a cleaner in to help my wife. I don't do it good enough for her as she suffers from OCD and is not happy unless she does it herself but she suffers badly.
A cleaner just may not be good enough if you know what I mean.
We get a green stain in the bath as well. I have to re-plumb the house as the pipes are real thin and have burst in the past. Whilst we have good water it does seem to eat the copper pipes, hence the green. We do have a lot of iron in the water as well. I guess there is a filter that would help but I haven't researched yet. I am planning on a new filtration / UV purification system in the near future so hoping that may help. I did have a UV system but the UV tubes were expensive and only lasted about 3 - 4 weeks and at $30 a pop + freight it was killing the budget. Looking for something more reliable.

Had a nice shower in East Texas this morning, cooled things down. Got some mowing done while cool.

Something broke on the riding mower at another place yesterday. Have an old Sears mower that was nearly worn out and moved it over there and used it the last two years. Will have to see if it can be bailing wired back enough to use another year.

Time to make a BLT sandwich now.

Already had a flat on the ZTR, so l bought a pair of no flats and installed them. Rounded sidwall like I wanted and no flats. The casters swivel way better and not much difference in ride.
Fixed another stump sink, all that rain and rotted underground stumps.
At least it’s seat time.

Good victories! Have to take them when we get them sometimes, no matter how small or large.

glad to hear you got the tires you wanted Randy and hope they are gentler on your lawn.
Now if you are mowing at speeds in excess of 15mph perhaps radials would help. :sneaky:

Fedex brought a really heavy box that I almost couldn't pick up but finally did after planning every move so as not
to overload my repaired shoulder. It was my full set of 1/2 inch Neiko deep impact sockets I got for the cordless impact gun and my were they heavy.
Now if weight alone got you strength I'll have some really good sockets. They seem well marked and in a nice blowmolded case whose twin latches
actually did not fly off after one use. I have the worst luck with those latches, or they are just really cheesily made as they are always falling off on me.
Could be operator error

picked first three red potatoes today, mostly to test whether they were growing.
Two more weeks. I gave the first three taters and this batch of beets to neighbor across street who I know
will enjoy them. Have one more picking of beets to go and the first tomato started to pink up today, July 9.

Ken, that is true colonial Bucks County. Add a small frame addition to the left side and a big flagstone patio out front on a slightly raised porch and you have
almost exactly the house I grew up in on Aquetong Road, circa 1720. Kitchen to left of front door, dining room straight ahead and living room to the right where the big fireplace was.
4 small bedrooms upstairs, one bathroom, two if you were lucky or could afford it. Took my Dad a long time to afford that second bathroom which of course he got to use and was next to his
bedroom. That fieldstone is very pretty. If you look at enough of it carefully you can find the actual plow marks scoring the rocks in the field, which were then gathered up
to build things out of. And we sure had plenty of rocks.
