Good morning!!!!

Yesterday morning the daughter and I mowed down the jungle our yard had become....just in time before last night's storms made it too muddy again.

I'm trying to send you guys on the east coast some rain. If you don't get enough, just drive your truck down here and park the bed under one of Rick's rain gutters for a few minutes.

I was able to get Crumpelt Steelskin inspected and licensed in my name yesterday.

This Memorial Day, it's time to pay special attention, and remember our fallen heroes, who helped save this WHOLE WORLD, from disaster. Many times. I'm sure most of our fallen heroes would love us to celebrate and have a good time with our families, here in this wonderful country (and around the world).

Prayers for those in need. Bupps, Mostly's wife, Ted, Stepp's son and family, Drew (Helga go easy on him), Ron, Randy, L4N's DIL and family (and his truck repairs)...prayers for cures and healing.....and our country.

Good Morning.
It’s 45 and staying there all day in rain.
Davis says 2.52, Tempest says 4.01 so far. I’m inclined to believe the Davis.

I started by getting the blades changed on the progressive mower, the 1/2” drive Makita cordless impact made it pretty easy. I used all new hardware to put the new blades on,which helped to make it go smoothly as well.

then into the shop before the rain started yesterday, but ran into a snag when I headed out for lunch. I guess there were some gusts ahead of the front. This was probably the easiest tree cleanup I ever did. I went back up the lane and put the 4-1 bucket on the Kubota, and grabbed the Makita cordless chainsaw.
Grabbed the trunk with the bucket, cut it off in the hedgerow to the right, and carried it off to the brush pile in one piece.

So it was a good day for justifying why I bought all those Makita tools. (Not that a tool purchase ever needs justification).

Rehearsal went well last night, I’ll check out the recording this morning, then make some speaker progress.

Good plan to always replace the fasteners on the Progressive mower blades.

I was a dealer for them in the 90’s. I had two like yours on the farm and sold over 20 units until they decided to give my territory to the big guys. Their new sales dropped to almost zero.

Good morning! 48 and still get sprinkles. Yesterday’s rain hopefully helped with the rain deficit. Today is supposed to get to 51.

Went to the cheese house and got some cheese this morning, caught up on reading the paper, and now, not sure what else I will get into today. Plenty to choose from.

good you found a ride Kyle.

everyone stay safe out there

The Front page headline here in Lancaster this morning Was "Alligator escapes to Susquehanna River". The Bad news was all the guys who ran for their shotguns to rid the river of a predator where let down when the family that owned the 3 foot monster were able to re-capture their pet. That brings up the question which is better freedom or regular meals? Other than that we are edging towards normal or as normal as we can get. Raining today so I'm glad we didn't head for the beach with the millions of other sun lovers.

Good Morning.

49F and cloudy @ 11:59, headed up to a high of 51F. Rain has ended but calling for showers on and off this afternoon. Local station says no accumulation since midnight, total yesterday was 0.68".

Should be much nicer tomorrow - cloudy ... but a high temp of around 64F ... and even warmer temps (and no rain) on Mon/Tue before the next round of rain heads in. High temps in the 80's towards the end of the Ten Day ... (y)

Woman left a note that power went off this morning and tv would not turn off, it kept turning back on when you powered it down. Rebooted tv and it now stays off when you shut it off.

Mr. Cardinal at the birdbath this morning.

Will put out mealworms for bluebirds front and back, may need to run down to Eddie's and pick up another container.

Will also see if I can find a piece of rebar and get that second mealworm feeder put up out back. If not, will add a 10' piece to current Menards order.

Fish need fed and fish room could use a little work, so there's that.

Also kitchen clean up.

And finish tightening up bolts on Chapin spreader.

Placed order for wet and dry cat food (and treats) last night. It is now ready to be picked up ... but alas: no treats for The Squeak ...

She'll have to make do with what she has already ...

I can't believe I finally caught up! Been chipping away at it yesterday and this morning.

Wifey knows if she wants my attention, she'll call my name in a strong dialect and wait for eye to eye contact. :)

I drove to Austin on 290 there, and back through New Sweden. Plenty of cornfields, but many are being turned into subdivisions to house people moving in from Ca. :(

Don, thanks for looking. I have bought a vehicle. But first, the story leading up to it. My '03 Impala (that has been lightly used for the last 3 years) got me home to Giddings last Wednesday, but I stopped at the store to get a prescription, and it wouldn't start up again. I expect the fuel pump. Almost 333,000 miles on the original fuel pump. I've ordered a new one. Local price about $110. Rockauto about $50 with shipping. I left the car there overnight, and in the morning a buddy helped me tow it home with a strap. It is waiting in the barn for the pump to arrive. After removing the dash to repair the passlock system the other day, it made it clear to me, I don't want an older vehicle with low miles. The plastic is all cracked up as soon as you try to remove it, and the rubber on the vehicle is old and bad...

The price of used cars is horrible right now. There are people getting into the game of flipping/speculating on used cars. Many don't have dealers licenses. Most of these people have names that you can't hardly pronounce. They'll buy a car, and try to turn it without registering it in their name, to avoid the taxes and it adds "an owner" to the history. Then there are dealers who buy salvaged/wrecked cars and make crappy repairs, and then flip them. Some don't come out and tell you the title is a salvage title, unless you ask. So, I developed a "feel" for pouring over hundreds of used car ads on facebook marketplace. If it seemed too good to be true, it is usually a car with an issue.

Mind you, I'm trying to find a car for close to the $4470 the insurance company has given me for my old high mileage Altima. Most everything half decent is up around $10K to $12K or more. (Decent in my little league that is.) I got online early Thursday morning and started looking. Early bird gets the worm, hopefully. I found a hail damaged 2015 Malibu LTZ with only 77,000 miles for $6000. I messaged him, he said he had owned it for 2 years, and that he bought it like that. The pictures online weren't of all that high quality and angles to see the extent of the damage. I did some research for the prices of a hood and trunk. Not too bad. So the wifey and I went to look. We met him at 2, near The Oasis restaurant on Lake Travis. The car looks like it was used for a rock chunking target practice. But I took the wifey and son for a test drive. It drove perfect and quiet, tracked true, motor purred...when we got back, I started talking to owner about what it would take to get it about 80-90% repaired. He said he had a hispanic guy offer to do it for $1500. He showed me the number of people on Facebook, offering to come buy it immediately. He put them on hold, because he knew we were driving there from Giddings (about hour and a half drive). After a bit of time, I guess he felt compassion for us, and said he'd take $5000. I said a prayer, and said I'd take it. My friend who helped me tow home my Impala offered to ride over Friday to go pick it up and look it over once more. I warned him about how bad the hail damage is. I can't imagine how big the hail stones must have been to put in some of the dents they did. Hood and trunk will be easy. It is the roof panel that will cost a bit of labor. I looked online at some videos done by adhesive companies to remove and replace the hood panel. You have to remove both front and rear glass, drill out the spot welds, and then a lot of prying and cursing under breath on a well clamped down tongue. I need to find a similar car in a junkyard to try and get parts from.

So I have nicknamed the thing: Crumpelt Steelskin for now.

If it’s the fuel pump you should get it to start by whacking the gas tank with a bat or similar. That will work for a couple of months usually. Glad you found the Malibu.

Had a couple quick power outages this morning, and when they happen it turns off my UPSs, defeating the purpose of having them.

Only 50°, chilly in the house. Drizzly outside. .75” rain today

COVID numbers in the state have dropped drastically, and hospitalization from it in 300’s now. Nice to do some things without masks.
Got some pit beef sandwiches for lunch.
