Little man's first weekend at grandpa and grandmas house

Got cartoons playing on Netflix. Granny is keeping him occupied while I cooked dinner.

Had a minor honey do list. Had to put the bassinet together. And a new jumper for little man.

I think granny's purchase at wally world today was a success

And a good time had by all. Looks like a happy young'un.

Good Morning!!!! 50F @ 4:15AM. Sun and clouds mixed. High 79F. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph.
More weird weather yesterday, with black clouds building in the afternoon and even a brief shower or two, but nothing in the rain gauge. Some fairly gusty wind accompanied the showers. Some kind of wind event took out a line of power poles in Chico, sparking a small fire. Someone in Oroville set a field on fire with a lawnmower, in spite of all the warnings not to cut dry grass with one. Numerous other small fires in the area as well. 2020 was a bad fire year, but 2021 is shaping up to be much worse:

Gotta get crackin' on that terrace; yesterday I got a call letting me know the tank is in and when I wanted it delivered. I haven't really even started excavating...

That Deere looks brand new, David. Did you invite the new owner to join TBN, and maybe learn a bit about tractor safety?

Looking back on '20 and '21, Drew, I think people will remember the shortages and disruptions as much as the disease. Hard times for us all. Sorry I can't be there to help you out with that pie. 😄

Did you catch the crane in mid stride, Ron, or do they like to stand around on one leg like that? Thanks for the Medicare info. Supposedly they are mailing me a copy of the Advantage policy, which I hope turns out to be the actual policy. The brochure I have says coverage and copays will be comparable to what I have now, with a lower maximum out of pocket limit, nationwide coverage, and a few useless to me buzzers and whistles as well. But I wanna see all that in the fine print first. One bit of good news is that open enrollment starts in October, so I can switch then if I make a bad choice now.

I don't seem to be able to get a Medicare number for another 30-60 days, without a Medicare number I don't get Medicare, and my current coverage ends at the end of the month. Hopefully I stay healthy until the government finishes twiddling its thumbs. Learning that took most of the day, a lot of it sitting by the phone waiting for it to ring.

That gave me a chance to look at some routes for the next trip, just as the weather is shaping up to be just about perfect in the Sierra foothills. It doesn't look like any of the mountain passes will be open, and that'll cut down on traffic, and hopefully make it easier to find an open campsite. Plenty of places to bushwack if I'm wrong, though. Started a new map download in the wee hours this morning to update the GPS. It's been more than a year, and doing it in the middle of the night spares my daytime data cap.

Sorry to hear about Coco, Billy. Hope the new pills help ease her pain. I had a pair of those HF jack stands, too, and returned them, but I think I just got a refund. It's been long enough ago that I don't really recall, but I do remember spending about twice that on a pair from a reputable manufacturer. Makes me wonder about the '80s vintage Chinese jack stands I use the most. That was before Harbor Freight even started, so there's no idea about who made them or if there's been any recall. But if they haven't failed under the weight of the tractor, I guess I'm OK to keep using them.

Hope everyone enjoys a great weekend!

Welcome to the GM thread, Diwali!
Well do I remember riding through Wales on a Norton motorcycle many years ago, looking at the map and street signs and not being able to pronounce any of the names. As I recall that resulted in a lot of wrong turns and doubling back, and orbiting the roundabouts looking for something familiar. If you can get around in Wales, you can find your way anywhere! :ROFLMAO:

Good morning
It’s 68 headed to 90 today.
Still no rain.

Yesterday was fairly productive, got some chores done, mowed most of the areas that get done with the Lazer, probably hook up the Progressive finish mower and do the open areas today. Had a fun rehearsal with the band, there is definitely rust to be knocked off, but it’s going better than expected considering how long we have been off.

Today I’m going to help a (young) friend pick up a 72” Toro mower from another (old) friend who sold his place and is moving into a retirement community. It’s an older, but nicely kept machine with a four cylinder Continental engine, hydrostatic drive and hydraulics. It comes with a load of spare parts as well, it’s owner worked for Toro and took great care of it. He is happy to see it go to a good home.
I’m also hoping to mow and finish the mulching. And if that doesn’t kill the day, I’ve still got speaker work and would like to check out the recording of last night’s rehearsal.
If it really does get to 90 outside, the mulching likely won’t happen, but the mowing that’s left is with the tractor with AC.

Hope you get your number soon.

Today is exactly 3 weeks since I applied for Medicare. They tell me they are “on part 2 of a 3 part process to approve the application”. So I am still waiting for my number.

Good morning.

Another good day weather wise - but high temps will be in mid-80’s in afternoon.

Didn’t get all the chores done yesterday - primarily due to my goofing around. So, back to farm to complete mowing, weed spraying and cleaning off the back porch. Hopefully I’ll get it done before it’s too warm.

Be safe all.

Morning all.

64F and partly cloudy @ 07:30, headed up to a high of 84F. High hit 88.2F yesterday. Calling for a high of 88F again tomorrow, upside is that it will be mostly cloudy. Chances of rain in the Ten Day are now looking spotty.

High, well-drained areas are getting very dry ... low areas still have decent soil moisture. Grass is still very green.

Got fish fed first thing yesterday, another massive white worm feeding.

Watered and fed blueberries and transplanted day lilies with Miracid.

Raked leaves out of creek crossing, no standing water but still very moist ... will need further work today ... should have dried up some more.

Put pallet forks on and got extension ladder moved around back. Also a pallet of 2x's ...

Called Chapin to follow up on getting a non-defective replacement part, got the CS lady to transfer me to their shipping department when she couldn't tell me anything. Lady I spoke to there said the part I needed was not in stock at her location and that she would have to order it from a satellite facility - which apparently is down the street/across town/etc. Said she should have it by Monday.

So: it hadn't shipped ... and hadn't even been ordered from the facility that has it in stock so it could be shipped.

Keep in mind I last called about this on Tuesday of this past week ...

Unbolted seat on Cub to scope out wiring connections for the seat switch. Called mower shop to ask if they had a Workshop Manual available for unit (hope - it's all online now ...) and to see if they had insights on bypassing the operator presence switch. Found out that if the PTO is off and the parking brake is set, the unit will stay running. Probably good case for RTFM ...

I was on a decent roll until neighbor showed up on his Gator wanting to discuss some aspen trees on his property that were leaning over our way across the trail (therefore a hazard) on the property line and would it be ok if he just dropped them onto our property, provided he removed the sections blocking the trail (absolutely, you betcha !)

That involved taking a ride up to have a look and seeing which trees he was talking about, which then turned into a ride around the property and ultimately devolved into a fairly long jaw-jacking session out back ... which, while it was enjoyable, kind of ruined my momentum.

Dropped sprayer around back and put box blade on after he left.

Pulled grapple out of pole barn and brought over here to the house. Could not get hydraulics connected though. Might see if I can find any joy on that today - before it gets hot out and the lines pressurize.

Then swapped out forks for bucket and screened some more compost. Brought down one bucketload of screened material to fill in, top-dress, and level out around tree roots near northeast planting bed. Have to spread that today ... will likely require several more bucketloads of material.

Got most of east side and back mowed last evening in the cool, under the lights at the very end. Will finish that up this morning.

Hopper feeder already needs refilled, and suet feeders need rescued from the gutters/roof. Also clean out/refill birdbath.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ... (y)

Back in 2007 when I applied for Medicare. I was told to apply at least 3 months before I turned 65.
