Good Morning!!!! 50F @ 4:45AM. Sunshine to start, then a few afternoon clouds. High near 75F. Winds NW at 10 to 20 mph.
Crazy weather yesterday. Sunny and brisk in the morning, then as I was digging stumps, dark clouds moved in from the north, the wind picked up, the temps dropped, and raindrops started coming down. By dinner time, the sun was back out and the temps had recovered. No rain in the gauge, just the threat.
You're getting some good advice here, Kyle, and I hope you can work out a settlement without going to court. The PI attorney for the big motorcycle wreck wrote several letters, and once the other insurance company saw we were playing hard ball, we came to terms. It took time, though, so try to be patient. Don't go for the BS of private sale vs. dealer sale, either. You're gonna pay what the current market dictates, and prices are up due to CoVid. Bring A Trailer might be a good reference, too, KBB tends to be long out of date, cars.com is good, ebay motors might be your best shot. See if you can focus on auctions in your immediate area, as prices will vary regionally. And all the work and money you've poured into your commuter should put it at the top of the price range. Make them pay for your rental car. The longer they drag their feet, the more rent they'll have to pay, and that'll work to your advantage.
Figured I needed to get some time on the backhoe before I tackled that steep hillside, so I dug out a couple of stumps yesterday. Two were easy, but a triple trunked oak is still laughing at my attempts. Busted a lot of roots, but I think there's a tap root buried deep. Maybe I'll take a grinder and sharpen the edges of the trenching bucket to help get through the roots...
I took yesterday's "bad" weather as an excuse to finally do something about Medicare. I learned that my last employer is still subsidizing my medical insurance. They're "sponsoring" an Advantage plan with United Healthcare that looks like it has all the bells and whistles, with an unbelievable monthly premium of $11.15. Seems too good to be true, but that's what the agent I spoke with said. I can still go with Original Medicare, but that looks like a real mine field with premiums and coverages all over the map. I need time to dig into the fine print, but there's an end-of-month deadline coming up quick...
Gosh, Friday already. TGIF!
