wonderful story Randy. I wonder if that trooper had kids of his own.
I took Driver's Ed at no cost to us in High School in Marlow, OK, in 1956; and the local Ford dealer loaned a car to the school each year for the school year for that purpose. I don't recall for sure but I think the trooper came to the school to give the test for our licenses. But then the next year we moved to Texas. In those days, out of state folks, even if they had a valid license from another state, had to take both written and driving test in Texas. So I got that license in McKinney, TX. A year or so later, I found that I needed to drive some grain hauling tractor trailers to and from my Dad's service station where we serviced them. So back to McKinney for the written test and got a Commercial License. Then in 1959, I had gone to work as a clerk in the Dallas Post Office. In those days, before zip codes, we had memorize every address in Dallas and which zone got its mail. One of the other clerks told me the best way to learn Dallas was to drive a cab, and I found that the Checker Cab Company would hire anyone with a Chauffeurs License, you could work your own hours, and were paid a percentage of what you collected on the meter. So to the Dallas office of the Department of Public safety for another written test and I became a part time cab driver. And then in the Fall of 1968, the State of Texas created a new drivers license for motorcycles and I had a small motorcycle, so I went and took both written and driving test for a Motorcycle endorsement on my license. So from then until some time after I retired from the police department and went to full time RV travelling I was licensed to drive anything you could put on the road in Texas. I believe it was 1991 when Texas came up with a new set of licenses and tests and higher costs for commercial operators, and I no longer had a motorcycle. So I dropped back to the plain old cheaper and longer lasting Operator's License.Yes, bc, ss, an a multitude of other papers.
Current residence affidavit, proof of school enrollment, electric bill, proof of insurance, Many papers on parent taught driver's ed...argh.
And now their system went down...we may have to wait until infinity...
Any date set for live happy hour starting back up?Mowing done for the day. 2 of my 3 areas at Hilo end of property. Will finish up tomorrow.
A bit of a break before Zoom Happy Hour.
Drew, prayers for your procedure tomorrow.EKG done, no problems, none expected, all set for early tomorrow.
Need to find the largest shirt I own, not sure whether sling will go under or over.
Randy keep up your spirits and get Ellen to bring you some good food. Unless you are on a very
controlled diet.
a very long day, first the dentist and then the cardiologist, both visits in seats and positions that hurt my neck.
I can see why folks would abuse opioids. You really get tired of hurting. But just got off the phone with endocrinologist who I saw
last week who called me to tell me to double up my steroid dose tomorrow morning. He actually remembered....I was impressed.
First time I've seen much proactivity from local docs, this was a nice call. And even better, he cleared me for going back on the low dose
steroids I had been on, and went off with everything else a week before the procedure. Except I should have kept taking the steroids, they seem much
more interested in anticoagulants and herbal stuff. Trying not to fake out the anesthesiologist who is a most important fellow.
I really want to wake up...
So going cold turkey on the steroids was not a good idea.
Pill taken, all is well.
Almost wonder if just wearing a light jacket home would be the easiest, best due to full length zipper.
But I have to get a shirt on at some point. And I'll get to wear those dorky yellow socks they give you.
living alone really sucks at these times, no helping hands.
Though all kinds of folks are there, have called and emailed, thankfully a long list, but I have to figure out how to dress myself.
old friend, elderly retired doc, offered to chip in 5 grand if I bought a tractor and used it on his place.
I know his place well, Nadene and I had a garden in one of his upper fields, beautiful rolling fields estate on Windybush Road.
Best offer I've had all day...
I thanked him, and said after I get through this year's operations, it sounded very interesting for next year.
When you're done.....come on this way and keep mowing......and bring happy hour with you. My 2 weeks since 2nd shot was today.Mowing done for the day. 2 of my 3 areas at Hilo end of property. Will finish up tomorrow.

Speaking of licenses, saw on FB someone local got taken selling a used Rubicon. Buyer had fake Real Id drivers license, used a counterfeit cashiers or bank check from BOA, drove up with wife and kids to get it in a vehicle with a fake Temp Tag on it. Probably was a fake family. Seller had pics of everything, and found out after check didn’t clear a few days later.
