48 and clear, going to nasty 85.

Prayers for you, Buppies.

Mostly, those Texas steer have great balance. When I was a kid we'd play "follow the leader" and when it was my turn to lead, I'd often go to the neighbors that had a chain link fence, and walk the top of it all the way around their back yard, or as far as I could keep my balance. I usually won that round.

Went out at 5:11am to watch the Space Station fly by...was easy seeing it coming, even with the super moon...they say it's the "pink moon" having to do with the timing of the Moss Pink plant, rather than the color of the moon...but when it set over an hour later, it really was pink as it got close to the western horizon. Sure hope Ron saw this moon...was big and bright.

Got a good long hike in yesterday, then changed the oil and filter on my Tundra. The gnats were so bad, it was a pleasure crawling under it. It's usually a struggle getting the shield back on underneath the engine, but it was easy peazy yesterday....maybe it was playing nice after getting stuck in the mud a couple of weeks ago.

Good morning, it has clouded over today and wind has switched direction, which is quite fortunate as neighbour is spreading more muck on the other side of the railway.

Yesterday I put my new waders on and tried to drag the Mk1 fish refuge in to position. It got stuck in the mud below before it was out far enough to become fully submerged. Going to have to rethink this for the next one, perhaps Mk2 needs to be a floating version, then perhaps I could tow it out upside down.

old friend, elderly retired doc, offered to chip in 5 grand if I bought a tractor and used it on his place.
Not that is something to look forward to Drew (y)

daughter drove the last 35 miles home, her first time on the road, behind the wheel. Was not relaxing for me, but she did great
Kyle, you are a great dad to do that. When my daughter was 18 I looked at how much it would cost to add her to my car insurance. It was cheaper (and much more relaxing for me :)) to pay for her to have lessons with a professional driving instructor in a car with dual control pedals.

Hehe. That steer could give quite a fright on a foggy night.

mostly_gas said, "Bird neat story, at one point I was licensed for all road vehicles and single engine airplanes. Lost chauffeur when moving to Texas"

I spent a little time as the commander of the police helicopter section. The previous commander had been a non-pilot, but I studied the Jeppesen private pilot course and started taking lessons flying the police helicopters. Three of our pilots had been, and still were, experienced helicopter pilot instructors. So I was just about ready to go take the test to become a helicopter pilot (Bell 47s) when we got a new chief of police, new assistant chief, and re-shuffling of commander personnel and I was transferred to the jail.:LOL:

So I was never a licensed pilot, although both my younger brothers lived in Alaska for years, were pilots and owned small planes. And both had some experience driving over the road 18-wheelers; one in Alaska, the other in the lower 48.

Good morning, raining again. The rain just stopped. Low 37, high 57. Wind E 10 mph. 60% chance of rain/snow. Boy they sure covered their bases today.

Gravel should be here either today or tomorrow. I've got some black earth to spread today.

I got my drivers license on my birthday (16). I had been driving for 2 years then, not only on the farm but in town too. I was 14 the first time I went joy riding in Dads' car, a 1947 Plymouth. A flat head 6 with three on the tree. Did fine, got it back in the same tracks I made going out and zero damage.
I was 35 when I fessed up to it. Dad had figured out that it was me and never said a thing. When I told him he said, 'no harm, no foul'.
When I did the license road test it was in a '55 Pontiac, that one was a mover and a shaker. It had the 6 cyl motor out of a truck in it, boy would that car haul as$, had 2nd gear that wouldn't quit.
Whenever he went on a fire call (volunteer Fire Fighter) I usually went with him. Chief was a personal friend of the family and he would use me to get extra supplies when there was a significant fire that needed all hands on deck and couldn't spare a fire fighter to get the extras. Usually got a police escort for those runs, if they could catch up to me.

Good luck with the shoulder repair.

Have a safe day all

Mornin all, Sunny again.
Did not get much done, just some pick up stix and split a few rounds to warm up the splitter.
Am feeling pretty goo finally, O2 good, pulse back down to 60's, was sitting at 90 for a while for no apparent reason.

Buppies - Hopefully the bad is not too bad and you can get home soon.
Drew - hoping everything goes according to plan and your shoulder is good as new!

Browning game cam working pretty good, at least 2 fox, 2 raccons, that 1 turkey, some squirrels, a cat and something small and dark and too far in the brush to make out. Also some reflective eyes that are too shy to get close, and of course a mess of deer.

Stay safe and be well

60°F and partly cloudy this morning, going up to 84° today. Rain is moving in sometime tonight, and expected to last through tomorrow and into Thursday.

Got most of the trimming done after work yesterday evening. Got along the driveway, the ditch along the road, around the pond, and around the barn and chicken coop, then called it quits just in time for dinner. Wife cooked some perfectly delicious ribeyes, spinach, and roasted potatoes and carrots. To me, there is no better cut of meat than a ribeye.

Spent the rest of the evening mucking around in the studio. Life is good.

One of the hardest parts of having long hair is the growing process, Kyle. It gets to a point where it's always in the way, yet not long enough for a ponytail. After I cut it all off in 1990, then let it start growing back a couple of years later, it was at that point that I started wearing do-rags to deal with it. I always tuck my hair up into the helmet, which is much easier when it's in a ponytail. I just pile it on top of my head and put the helmet on over it. It does change the way you fit a helmet, though.

Some great driver's license stories here today. I got mine when I was 16. Like Bill, I had already been driving for a couple of years. My Father would let me drive when we visited family out in the country, and I occasionally drove to the neighborhood milk (convenience) store about four blocks away. Where we lived was the eastern edge of town back then, so there wasn't much traffic in those days. We had Driver's Education classes in high school, which included a room full of simulators (I always got in trouble for driving the simulators in manual mode) and a fleet of three cars with double pedals. My 16th birthday was on a Sunday. We went to the driver's facility Saturday morning, and were told I couldn't take the license tests until I was 16 ... even after I promised not to drive until the next day. They were, and still are, closed on Mondays, so I had to wait two more days to get it. Talk about a long two days.

You are correct, Mostly_. The language of the Romans was Latin. Libra means "balance," or "scale," hence the pound usage.

Hope everything goes well for you today, Drew.

Good morning. It's 72° and overcast on the way to 82° this afternoon.

We had 5 burn piles in one pasture .. built up from a few weeks of tree trimming and yaupon / cedar removal.

Winds yesterday morning were light .. so started lighting them off on about 30 minute intervals and all were down to smoldering logs by mid-day. The winds picked up in the afternoon .. helping to get the logs burned down. 5 piles in one day .. is a LCR record.

Mid-afternoon .. I took the tractor with grapple and pushed the burning logs together and hope to have nothing but a pile of ash when done.

I built another couple of smaller piles, over the top of two broken off stumps. Those stumps .. are now burned to below ground level.

Hope everyone has a safe and productive day.

Prayers to all.

64F, sunny, and quite pleasant @ 09:30, WU now says high will only hit 80F (was calling for 81F)

I'm optimistic - I'll bet we beat that.

Plans for today are mowing and a quick trip to Menards to exchange dump cart and pick up 4 concrete blocks for the plug aerator.

Possibly remove the MMM on the Kubota ... depending on what performance testing reveals :):

(y)

As it should ... since it is actually a plug aerator ... and not a dethatcher ...

Complete brain fart on my part ...

(Been thinking and chomping at the bit lately about projects I want to get finished up this summer and painted ... the dethatcher I built is one of them ... ;))
