We need a Tesla golf cart with a pickup body.
Speed, comfort, quiet, utility
The quiet is what attracts me. Sneak up on the birds...
John Deere used to make a rechargeable Gator, that must not have worked
out well for them as they don't make them anymore.
And electric motors have a lot less problems in the cold too.
I'm sure the engineering problem is packing enough battery storage in a small
area to provide enough range/working time. Wonder how long 4 LI-ON full size batteries would last?
I got seven years out of Trojans in my golf cart, I'd hope for ten years out of newer batteries.
But I sure miss that golf cart.

are there any name brand electric utv's out there?
Very easy to spend 20 grand on a utv, they have become much larger and more sophisticated, and capable.
All of which has a price.

But then I look at the youtube videos of big ranches in Texas, Oklahoma, Idaho and even Canada, those fields are really, really long and
if you can only go 12mph, going to take you quite a while. I'd like 20mph. The world comes at you fast enough at that speed when you are unsure
of your farm path. You keep up 20mph steadily and you'll get around most farms pretty quickly. But out on the open prairie, I can
just imagine, and appreciate, the need for speed.

Our Kymco does 73 kph. That is flying in one of those things. We were advised not to put a windshield on it in our climate as it just sucked dust into the cab area. Rarely any rain here and wouldn't be in it if it was raining. I guess you guys would want a screen more for wind chill more than anything. From memory it cost around Au$16,000 at the time. Must be 10 years old nearly now. Battery was always a weak spot. It had a little gel cell thing. I fitted a larger wet cell and it has been great since.

My Polaris Ranger would do 70 when I got it, that's mph. After they put the top on it it tops out at 60 or just shy of that now. That Freedom top is really heavy and like a wind sail.

The temperature here was forecast to be 21F. While I was out in the Dodge, the temperature according to it was 24°F.

According to google maps, it will take me 2 hours and 9 minutes to get to Sudbury,ON from here. That is at the speed limit which is merely a suggestion in this part of the world.

I have only had the ranger in high a couple times. Yes, it will do 60 to 70 mph, but I haven’t.

Messed with snow A little. Still freezing drizzle, couldn’t see well out the windows except the front.

looks like storm is on its way out.
Much less than forecast, maybe four inches of wet icy snow.
Shoveled and snowblowed, hit tons of stones but none broke the machine, which was a nice switch.
I'd love to run the machine in soft dry snow but that's not what the last two storms have been like, and
the wet snow sticks to the stones and up they come, ding ding ding whack

Check out how the new Ford hybrid pickups can be used as home generators:
https://www.motortrend.com/news/202...t-hybrid-powering-texas-homes-winter-weather/
I'm very interested in that truck, not for the generator but the 24mpg overall. And 500 pound feet of torque to tow an rv with.
I'd love to avoid going up to a 3/4 ton.

very grey out, almost a little foggy.

Good morning, well afternoon now.... was snowing again this morning, got an additional 2 inches. Temp is now at 36, and sunny, so a good amount melting off. Highs forecasted to reach mid 50's by Saturday. Hopefully this warmer air is heading towards Texas.....

Eric, yes, I would definitely paint that wheelbarrow blue if I was restoring it. I restored one a year or two ago, it is a plastic tub and figured that blue paint wouldn't stick to it for long, so I left it black. I did make new handles for it out of white oak.... they had to be stained to show the grain of course....:D

Knee is doing exceptionally well as far as being able to ambulate around. It is still very swollen and I think that is restricting my range of motion. Last night I had difficulty sleeping not being able to find a position of comfort, and another "new" type of pain was making itself known and not wanting to be left out...

Seems that small issues in relation to the knee keep cropping up.... first it was the medication issue. That got resolved rather easily, only time consuming. Now an issue with Physical Therapy has cropped up... I still have yet to get a call back from the Ortho Surgeon.... all calls supposedly returned within 24 hours.... it's now 32 hours... need to make a pest of myself I guess....

RNG, I feel your frustration with the mag issue... At one time I was legally able to purchase 'extra capacity' magazines for my two .380's. Purchased 2 - 10 round mags... yes they would hold 10 shells. Only a big problem.... they would stick and cause all sorts of jamming problems on the last 3-4 shots. I gave up on trying to fx them. Now I only load them with 7 bullets and then chamber one.....

The cheapest propane exchange here is $22.95 at Walmart, $24.95 at the convenience stores. TSC charges $12 to fill a 20#. Another mile down the road, the propane company charges $8 for the same fill. They will certify an expired tank for another 5 years for $2. I had a leaky valve on one, they charged $15 to replace the entire valve assembly and certify it for 5 years.... I guess you figured out who gets the business. They are still the same owners, true mom and pop store, for the last 35 years.

The only problem with them is they are open half day Saturday, closed on Sunday. I respect that for sure... but when does a propane tank always go dry?.... yep, Saturday afternoon at 2 pm!. I got smart (eventually) and now my backup tanks have backups....

Hope everyone (except David and Sophie) (you guys get a special exemption) stays warm and dry with all of the cold weather and snow across the CONUS.
We saw the first small flock of Mountain Bluebirds out at the feeder yesterday.... usually a sign of Spring being around the corner :)

Ted,

Thanks for the progress report .. sounds like things are moving forward ...

Bound to be a bit tender for a bit.

Definitely follow through on the PT ... Dad didn't and he did not have as complete a recovery as he probably could have had he done so.

It is about 29ー and still a few flakes falling. What we have on the ground is crunchy with a thin layer shell of ice.We have been waiting all week for our Walmart to open because we need meds for our middle daughter.they said yesterday that the pharmacy would be open this morning at 9:00 a.m. so I waited until 10:00 and went down there. So they told me when I got there that the pharmacy was still closed and that no one there could get my prescriptions. They were already having an altercation at the front door over not letting some man come in which I believe was a communication issue. they told me nobody could go into the pharmacy unless a pharmacist was there and that their pharmacist lived two hours away in Houston. I told them that I had a desperate need for the prescriptions and that I was going to call the sheriff so that the sheriff could drive to Houston and pick up their pharmacist.
A few minutes later they paged me and told me that their pharmacist should be there in an hour and a half. Sometimes the squeaky wheel gets greased.
They were out of water, milk, bread, chips, and pretty much anything else that you would normally need.
But beyond all that, we have food, power, firewood, and water.
We believe my wife now has covid, with low grade fever and phlegm.
