There is a pot shop I want to check out up there. [/I]

Bill, just curious, what does an ounce of pot cost in Canada?
It's been about 750-800 from what I hear locally, though, and I've never been in one...
the dispensaries usually sell much smaller quantities.

my biggest interest is in edible CBD. It is often very effective in reducing nerve pain. But regular pot has too much
THC and at times can make arthritis pain worse. Plus it smells horribly.
That skunky smell grosses me out.

When it went from $10 to $15 we thought it was Highway robbery. Of course that was about 1974.

My wife still has and uses proficiently the Pfaff machine with walking foot and free arm that we bought 45 years ago.

Drew, I remember when you started, and the ordeal with your wife. Just wish you could have finished that cross country trip.

Most of my friends are people we met thru worship. We have friends all over the country. So many of them, we knew with young kids, now have grand children or great grandkids.

I truly enjoy GM and TBN. Have only met one person from TBN, “Ed of all trades”, and he’s no longer on.

Randy, I think Michigan is trying to beat your no days above freezing records. Even though weather underground show temperatures above freezing. My weather station does not show any since mid January. Going to be a miracle if any fish in garden pond survive the winter.

Good Morning All.

In 1977 when we had 57 days below freezing the Chesapeake Bay froze completely over north of the Potomac, the news had footage of guys from the ice locked ships playing football on the Bay. Our rivers froze and no barges could get in? They instituted a 5000 shaft horse power rule to come north of the Potomac, in two days they couldn’t make either. We had convoys of oil trucks coming from Norfolk and NJ, the Salisbury city water mains froze in some areas and had to be thawed with welders. You couldn’t hire a welder or plumber for two months. It started Jan 1, after a 60° day, a cold front came through 50 mph winds about 22 pm, by morning it was 0 and dropped to -5 by about 8. I had a Buick Regal with a 455 and it was frozen to the asphalt with water blown in waves up to the middle of the Cragars.

Ron, I gave my wife a decent new sewing machine she loved and a serger she never used. Always wanted to learn
that skill, like Toppop has. We build and fix things in many different materials, sawing, welding, stitching...
I've paid for new canvas on three boats and that sure gave me an appreciation for someone's neat stitches.
Like a nice welding bead...

So I wonder Ron if you will have a use for the machinery or will that go to grandchildren?
I gave mine away, made two ladies very, very happy.
Including a home made walnut bobbin/thread holder I made.
We might want a new Dewalt or Makita but the missus
wants a new electronic sewing machine with 16 different stitches.

Nothing like a serger for a pretty hem.

My wife still has and uses proficiently the Pfaff machine with walking foot and free arm that we bought 45 years ago.

I have a Pfaff commercial machine that is about that old, big, slow and noisy, but will sew two leather belts together as easily as sewing Damask.

I can see how it would be great fun for a mother or grandmother to make baby clothing for the little ones.
I gave my nieces and nephews little monogrammed jumpers when they were one, with their names on them.
Always thought it would be fun to make them. Wish I had that skill. Arthritis is taking away my ability to do fine work anyway.

bird feeding area full of seed now, and no one out there. Must be a raptor above and little birdies don't want to be
Mama Owl's breakfast. Or a morsel for one of many hawks flying around.
Can you imagine always worrying about getting eaten while you try to enjoy your meal?

Everyone is someone else's breakfast...

I checked the price of 'Girl Scout Cookies', which is a brand of weed...$209.oo/z
What you want is CBD oil in capsules.
The 64 million $ question is, is pot legal in PA?

   / Good morning!!!! #127,730
Bill, thank you, no it's not and severe arthritis is not one of the 11 or 13 medical categories for which medical pot is allowed.
But...recreational use just approved in NJ, ten minutes away.
I will try the capsule CBD, conventional docs locally leery of giving advice in an unfriendly legal environment.
Which thankfully is changing slowly.
I am doing everything possible to not use (at all) the many opioids prescribed to me. Docs love writing scrips...

I hope Ted is doing ok. He's been in a lot of pain for a long time and it will be nice
to see him doing better. At least a lot of woodworking can be done sitting down.

Dr.s gotta pay for their yachts, too. Pushing scripts and kickbacks help to pay for the luxury's.
I had to look up the price because I don't smoke pot, just hash and I've been known to gobble up some eatables.

Good morning, the temperature is -4°F and the high might be 18. Wind NNE 7 mph. 40% chance of flurries.
Snow coming tonight and tomorrow, but they aren't guessing how much, yet.

An energy conservation day for sure.

Have a safe day all

Good morning! 23˚F misting, icy. We are iced in. The driveway and street are just sheets of very slick ice. Whipper found out the hard way when she walk out the back door and promptly slipped and fell. ( Thanks for the warning Whip!)
23F is the high for today so no change in temp until 6pm when The temps start the record drop until Tuesday to the coldest temps I have ever seen in Texas.

Even though my second vaccine is only 3 miles away Wednesday I don't think I will be able to make it, more ice and snow is on the way.

My citrus plants are in the garage where it is 43˚ with a space heater going. Sorry you weren't able to find a heater Bird. Maybe disconnect your washer hoses and let them drip?

Happy Valentines Day!

Instead of that, I've left the door open a bit from the kitchen/dining area into the garage. The garage itself is pretty well insulated but the overhead garage door is not all that great. However, so far it's keeping the garage temperature above 50 degrees. I imagine all our next electric bills will be whoppers, but I'll gladly pay it; just hope the power doesn't go off.

Extra large cup of hot coffee this morning. 2° with fog this morning. Heading to 21° with cloudy skies. Sewing room is done for now. Going to set room up to scan all my old pictures and film. Got about 3" of snow yesterday. Need to clean that up with tractor. Before next batch falls.
Squirrel telling hawk that branch it's perched on belongs to it. I was not fast enough to get both in full picture. Squirrel won the branch.

Drew, good to have TBN friends.

Popgadget, great repair.

Bird, hope washer will be OK.

Mostly, hope you are staying warm. Bike riding will be back soon.

Buckeye, good pictures.

Rick, good plan for a few days. My parents used a 100 watt bulb to protect the well from freezing. But it would still freeze in this kind of weather.

Riptides, hope visitor did not leave and unpleasant smells.

Thomas, gas prices are doing a slow climb here also. Now at $2.249.

Looking, how far is Sudbury from your place?

DFT, nice gift for wife. Did you find any ammo?

KCY, great area to visit. Been a few years since I made the trip.

Randy, I think Michigan is trying to beat your no days above freezing records. Even though weather underground show temperatures above freezing. My weather station does not show any since mid January. Going to be a miracle if any fish in garden pond survive the winter.

Roy, good report on pump.

Don, I had to do some serious searching for a fire starter so I could start gas logs in wood stove. After furnace stopped. I keep seeing a pack of 4 at Sam's Club when I go there. I need to put them on my list.

Prayers and best wishes for everyone.

Good Morning All.
The only ammo they had was target rounds, which I probably have about 500 or so rounds in an ammo box already. So I didn't bother getting any more.

I was looking for some PP rounds which they were sold out of. I'll hit a gun shop for those, or else order some online.

Just an FYI. At academy sports they moved all their ammo to the back store room and off the racks. They were having big issues with shoplifting. So if your looking for ammo, you need to ask for it.

Good to know, thanks, I'm running a little low on my FM-92 Stinger missiles.
And I'm only down to two or three M72 LAWs.
But at least I do have a good supply of 81MM mortar rounds.
And a room full of .50 cal.

think I should call ahead?

(I wonder what it takes to trigger the government's sensors that have
no appreciation for my sense of humor...)

Good Morning!!!! 43F @ 6:30AM. Cloudy. High 57F. Winds light and variable.
Another front is due in tonight bringing only light showers. More rain on and off in the coming week.

Hoping to hear from Kyle and Ted this morning that all is well...

I remember that winter of '77-'78. I was sharing a half-duplex with another student in the slums south of the Ohio State campus, parking on the street out in front of the place. A wave of warm weather came through, melting most of the snow. It overwhelmed the storm drains, and the water was half way up to the hubs when the temperature dropped below freezing and we got two feet of snow overnight. Shoveled the car out the next morning but couldn't get it to move because all that water had frozen it to the street. It remained there for two weeks, and I walked or rode my bicycle to class and work. That was the first time they closed the campus, ever. The next year it was ice storms, more campus closures, and a strengthened resolve to leave Ohio's horrid weather in the rear view mirror with a move to California...

I read this morning that portions of 47 states, including Hawaii, are under winter storm warnings this week. They say misery loves company, but I can think of better ways to reunite the country...

Finished the receiver hitch bracket with a bit of cutting, welding, and paint yesterday, just have to install it today. Need to go through the box of tractor parts and sort those out that go with the old tractor. The sale seems to be dragging out longer than expected, but with plenty to keep me busy, I guess I'm in no hurry.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend!

Good morning. It's been just below freezing since Friday and we'll not get back above freezing until Wednesday and then only a few hours before it goes below freezing again. The forecast low for this Tuesday morning has been all over the map. It's presently 12° but has been as low as 3° a couple of days ago .. so who knows.

I've done all preparations .. to protect our pipes .. and only thing for today is to put 2 of our 3 pressure washers in the shop. The 3rd is a 4000 psi trailer mounted unit and it drained and I shot some antifreeze into it before our last freeze.

IMG_0799.jpg

If can isn't empty the 2 units, in the shop, will get a shot .. JIC.

All the talk about sewing machines reminded me that Patricia got interested in embroidery machines several years ago so .. I bought her a Singer XL- 400, extra software, and built a nice cabinet for it. It remains unopened / unused since Christmas 2012.

I'll likely take advantage of the cold weather, next few days, to get a start on Federal taxes.

Hope everyone stays warm and safe. Hope we get some good news on Ted's knee surgery .. soon.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Prayers to all.
