-1 degrees right now...high today in the low teens. There's still a wind chill advisory, but it hasn't been much wind around these parts...nothing steady, at least.

Chores are a dump run and get some diesel. Should have got the diesel a few weeks ago but didn't.
After that...unless the wife wants to do something, just watch some flicks. I got the 1937 version of "Lost Horizon", so that's definitely on the list

18 heading to 40 then snow starts tonight.

Mostly, glad you're done with the colon for a while...Chick-fil-A...great recovery meal!

Eric, our clouds must have moved over your way...they've been pretty confused here this month, too.

Had an unplanned trip to the vet...took up all morning, but after lunch, cut a load of firewood that needs splitting this morning so I can empty the carry all wood box for another filling before the snow arrives. Two new chains and some oil to mix with gas arrived yesterday, but not the bar oil, which I will run out of today. I tried to order everything from the local hardware store (Ace Hardware) but their website must not carry a complete inventory since nothing I needed was showing, just the saws, chaps, helmets, etc. Yet the store had a great selection. I resharpened my chain, and it did great, so didn't use a new one yet.

David, surprised to hear fire ants are on your island. They haven't made it here, but are in southeastern Virginia where I go.

Prayers for those ailing and to keep all safe.

Eric, is this anywhere near you?
just posted on Youtube.

boys will always play in the mud puddle.
I love all the guys in their Defenders coming out to play in the water.
The Case Puma 240 coming through was my personal favorite.
Clearly a recurring event there as they have a water height indicator nearby. Two feet of water at least.
This is the dream scenario for anyone with a snorkel exhaust and a car/truck
designed to be hosed out. Not sure I'd want it. For all you know that water could be full of pcbs
from the downed transformer half a mile upstream.

Don't drown, turn around. There's usually another way.
Though if I were there with a new watertight Defender, I might slowly go through like the one guy
in the late model one, a proper landowner driving through the puddles.

Thats good to hear. Wife got her second Moderna shot yesterday.

First shot felt like she got a mule kick to the shoulder starting the day after the shot that lasted for three days.

Second shot produced the mule kick after a couple hours. Then came a fever, cold chills and sweats, upset tummy, vomiting, and the mother of all headaches.

She won't be getting the booster shot they are talking about for the Moderna vaccine.

This is the first I've heard of such a severe reaction. It would be my guess that you might not have the same reaction if you got the same medication, but I can certainly understand your reluctance.

Good Morning!!!! 45F @ 3:30AM. Cloudy skies this morning will become partly cloudy this afternoon. High 58F. Winds light and variable.
Only 0.07" of rain yesterday, but the timing was perfect to catch one of the motorcycles moved out onto the driveway while I swapped out a pallet of firewood in the garage. The bike didn't melt, but now it needs a good cleaning. Today and tomorrow are both looking to be dry, but mostly cloudy. Then a couple more days of rain before sunshine reappears for the rest of the 10-day.

Seems like too many things waited until Friday this week to finally clear themselves up. The wired funds finally made it to France, so the bearings seem to have been shipped and the transmission I have apart on the welding table may finally get put back together. The local insurance agent got an authorization form to the insurance company and I was finally able to use my charge card again to pay for the homeowner's policy. After an hour and a half on hold:eek:, I got someone at the post office to tell me that the shotgun parts I ordered were being held for an adult signature at the local hardware store, which doubles as a hole-in-the-wall post office. And my buddy that's moving to Klamath Falls, Oregon wants to use the good weather window next week to run a heavy load of tools and motorcycles up there in the F250. That's half way to Portland, so today I'll pull the front differential out of the van so I can keep going (once the truck is unloaded) and drop it off at a reputable rebuilder to have a locker installed. When it rains, it pours. Not quite literally, though, as all the wet days we had this week totaled up to less than two inches.

Pretty sure I don't have any "after" video, Ron, but I haven't looked closely, either. Might not be a bad idea to shoot one, though, showing all the dead oaks and manzanitas and the solar power system I had to install because PG&E electricity is no longer reliable.:muttering:

I did get my Cologuard test sent off this week, and it was a lot more convenient than a colonoscopy. But the test isn't as reliable, either, and should the result be a positive, I'll still have to get inflated and probed.:(

One of the hummingbird feeders is MIA after this past week's wind, so I'll have a walk about today to see if I can find it. It's brightly colored, and didn't just disappear into thin air, but I'm sure the wind made a good try toward that end. I took a short walk yesterday looking for it, but that same rain shower cut it short.

Sort of a mixed bag for the J&J vaccine. It doesn't seem to be as effective, but that may have something to do with it having only been tested with one dose. But the real big deal is it doesn't require the liquid nitrogen temperatures to keep it from spoiling, which may greatly ease distribution. Youngsters with no connections (like most of us) will just have to keep our fingers crossed that the virus doesn't mutate it's way around the current crop of vaccines before we get jabbed, though.

And speaking of liquid nitrogen, what a tragedy so many died at the chicken processing plant because of a leak.

Back on the vaccine, I wonder if some of the discomfort after the shot might be due to lack of experience in the person handling the needle. Could a shortage of qualified personnel be the cause?

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend; I think I'll try and finish the rest of my forty winks...
