Good morning! 11 now, supposed to get to 35 today. Winter weather watch starts at 10 tonight through 10 PM on Sunday. 3 - 5 inches predicted. We shall see.....

If we get close to the high end of the snow prediction, might actually run the snow blower. I think it has been 3 years since I actually used it.

My interest in old bikes is just not BSA. I also dabble in Bultacos. I have for a long time needed a hard to find 38mm Amal MK 2 carb for one. Found a 36mm some time ago, then a 40mm set up for alcohol on a 4 stroke. Found a 38mm body on fleaBay with a new anodized slide. Got it for $23! It arrived yesterday, I used the 40mm as a parts donor. I now have the 38mm carb I needed! Also got everything together for the BSA fender to go to the welder.

Going to take the fender to the welder this afternoon after he gets off work. Not sure what else I will get into.

The geo Aux heat did not run last night, but ran at 22° and wind. Going to 30°,.

Is the issue with your geo not keeping up due to a closed loop getting too cold? If so do you have an indication of loop temp?
I’ve ever had a problem, but my system is an open loop, so the incoming water is always in the 50’s. My shop has an air to air heat pump, and the aux heat (propane) cycled on yesterday when it was 20 degrees and 35kt winds.

Good Morning
It’s 19 with a high of 30 forecast. Wind has finally relented, and clear skies. The calm before the storm. They’re still waffling on the amount, but it will definitely be an event that requires the tractor. Supposed to start late Sunday and continue until Tuesday.

Shopping and Dinner went well, grandson was entertaining. Fun grilling steaks outside in the wind and the 20 degree cold.

On the way to BJ’s I discovered that the heat in my wife’s RAV4 didn’t come out of the floor vents. Also realized how much the floor heat contributes to comfort. once home and groceries unloaded, I connected the laptop and determined that the damper motors were getting the proper commands and returning the correct feedback, so it had to be a mechanical problem. Turns out that for some reason a gear/cam that moves the dampers fell off for no apparent reason, the attaching fingers were all intact, so just had to be snapped back into place. The trick was that it was nearly inaccessible without removing the entire dashboard and had to engage several pins in order to be timed correctly.
I’m no longer flexible enough, nor can see well enough out of the top of my progressive lenses to work under the dash and through the removed glove box, so I had to enlist the help of a friend with an independent repair shop. He got it back together, but it took him a couple hours, so I don’t feel bad about throwing in the towel.
The funny thing is that she said it’s been that way for at least a year!

Good morning! 61˚F heading to a high of 77˚F, cloudy, SSW winds at 16 mph.

I noticed the floor mat in the garage was wet last week and asked my wife if she spilled water, she said she probably did from the cats water bowl. Yesterday I found out she did not spill any water. The small chest freezer stopped and defrosted. Threw all the food away did a quick look in the back, banged the compressor with a hammer plugged it in again and declared it DOA. Threw it in the back of the truck and took it to the metal recycle place down the road. Took care of that problem in 30 minutes. The freezer served it purpose well when we built our house and stayed in the shack in the back.

Still feeling good after the close encounter of the covid kind during FireWise. Fingers crossed that I dodged another bullet.

RS thanks for the interpretation. I was also wondering if flattening the curve and prolonging the presence of the virus will contribute to give the virus more time to mutate. Another take that is contrary to "vaccinate the world" is from Vaccine Information America's Frontline Doctors . Soon we will have as many opinions as new virus variants. In ten years the experts will be telling us what we did wrong.

I’m sitting in the waiting area waiting to leave, got my vaccine at about 9:40. My wife drove me so I could get closer to the door. Very smooth and efficient. I knew some of the people since my late wife had an office in this dept.

Cold and clear, 21 going to about 37. Still very split on how much snow we might get tomorrow. They changed us from a winter storm watch to a winter weather advisory and lowered the snow totals.

Hi everyone.
Lovely warm morning, (6.00 am) few clouds, no wind. Going to the club today to fly my RC planes. I haven't flown for several weeks due to health/weather. Hope I remember how to.
I will just take a large petrol engined one today. Can't be bothered packing and unpacking more than that at present. Got word that quite a few will be attending. It is a great friendly club. We all enjoy the social side as well as flying.
This evening my stepson and his partner are coming for the night. We get on well with them. They live near Brisbane.
So my day is planned and should be a great one. Had a good nights sleep but we watched a movie until 12.30 a.m. I usually fall asleep well before then.

My wife cut my hair last night, best barber I’ve had, she doesn’t have much to work with but she gets it done.

Very good preliminary report in my echocardiogram, EF is up from 30% to 55%.

So I'm guessing you just want to stay original? or is there a reason a Mikuni carb wouldn't work? Glad you're making progress. My experience with my neighbor's Bultacos, was that he experienced a lot of piston failures due to cracks that would go from the corner of a skirt towards the wrist pin....IIRC.

RNG, glad things coming together on your multiple project front. I don't have rose colored glasses about your getting back what you're owed from the crappy electric company.

My son tells me his Yamaha GT80 started running bad....will have to check into it. Might be time for sparkplug #2 since rebuild...or maybe just low on gas. I told him "I will work on it, if you vacuum my commuter car" He said OK.

Will try to work on the Steiner Beast "no start" condition. Chase the power....see where it stops. I got new Buss circuit breaker fuses in.

My beautiful wifey made me chocolate decaf, with milk. Yummy.

An old schoolmate of mine has a very premature grandbaby they are praying for. Baby's name is Waylon. It is touch and go.

I have Amal stuff that covers about every carb they built post WWII. Also have lots of experience making Amal痴 work on Bultacos when they are being abused.

I know all the advantages of Mikunis. But something I learned a long time ago is the efficiency of a Mikuni causes it to lean out during transition between jets. An Amal is the opposite, it is inefficient and it goes rich. When you are dealing with big bore Bul痴 used in anger, you have significant heat issues. The Amal can be tuned to use it痴 inefficiency to control heat, especially when chopping the throttle going into a turn.

Drilling the piston to allow fuel/oil onto the cylinder walls adjacent to the studs does wonders to eliminate seizing and cracking. Another old trick.
