.

That's enough doom and gloom from me for today, does anyone else look back with nostalgia to those pre-covid times, when this thread's no 1 topic was DPF regen cycles ? :)

Funny mice Don.

Funny, I struggle to catch up with this thread when I wake up in the morning. Sometimes about 6 pages. 90 percent seems to be covid based now. Hopefully we can all look back on it one day as a past nightmare.
My wife packed away my laptop as it was taking space on the table. I don't bother with the big Mac in the back room much so I am left with my tablet which is not so easy to use for responses. I have trouble holding it for any length of time due to my physical problems. Hand goes numb etc. I think it may be improving a bit since the needle in the shoulder. Time will tell.
Had a trip to the city yesterday as I had an urge for some ham steaks from a particular shop. I cook them up with pineapple rings. Maybe they are called Hawaiian steaks? Anyway, urge satisfied. Since they put the new bypass in I can do a city run much quicker so I don't mind the run now not having to deal with semi trailers on the road. They 'have' to use the bypass. Maybe our roads will last longer not having all that heavy traffic damaging it.
Had another 36 hour period of no sleep and not even tired. Cortisone does that to me for some reason. Over that now I hope.
Take care all.

Finally got a response from the County on my Covid registration.
While it is good i finally got a response. Tells me to be patient-which is fine.

But then it says:
In the meantime, we encourage all Bucks County residents to do the following:

DO NOT REPLY TO THIS MESSAGE

That seems like ti should have probably had more info on what to do, but I certainly won't reply to the email

Sunny today with a cold north wind. My desk is next to a window and I can feel it. It would be nice to have better windows.

I saw a couple of different things today about using 2 masks to get better filtering. Cloth mask over a surgical mask. I've seen powered masks on Amazon. It looks like having a better mask might not be a bad idea if the virus is becoming more infectious and we will need to be taking precautions for some time to come.

Only wear a surgical mask here, but I’ve often wondered how effective some of these fashion masks. Sure see many that match people’s outfits.

Came up empty at PO again, but some progress, now Tracking shows item actually in Honolulu. Maybe tomorrow it will only be 4 days late.

I got the same email, basically confirming I was registered.
progress

windy afternoon, sun felt good but wind stole the warmth away

organic vegetarian lasagna heating up in toaster oven. I only buy that stuff when it goes on sale
after calculating the cost per pound charged vs the portion size. You look at the fine print which I think
they have to show you and now your entree bargain is not such a bargain at 10 bucks a pound.
But first it has to pass the salt hurdle, too much sodium and back on the shelf it goes. For me normally
maxxed at 500mg per serving. But who ever just eats one slice of pizza?...

Pizza is a very, very special treat for me. Even the expensive organic ones in the high end freezer cases
usually have too much salt. On my list, learn how to make pizza dough. Toppings are easy.

Hair cut done ... that sure feels good, think it had been over a month since the last one.

Hopper, two sunflower tube, squirrel, and ear of corn feeders all replenished, along with 3 scoops of cracked corn put down for the ground feeders. Wasn't too long (< 5 minutes) before we had numerous customers ...

Woman made tuna noodle casserole earlier ... was very good. We'll take a little of that over to a neighbor friend here in a bit and and then swing by the pet store for cat food and litter on the way back.

Rswyan haircut over a month....

When I got mine Tue I was teasing my beautician (seems State licensing here is unisex hair cutting) that back when I was active duty I’d get a haircut 2 or 3 times a month. She’s been cutting my hair 15 years and I only see her 3, maybe 4 times a year. Of course it was a lot cheaper in those days too.

Buckeye, may be a good time to switch to paperless billing.
.

I want paper billing. I want to be reminded every month how much things cost, plus with paperless, it’s more work for me to go online, download, print in order to reconcile. I want a paper trail.
I do pay online. I did download their app.

Nice moon pic, I just took a picture of it.

We usually get our most snow in February. Noticed on way home it was brighter later.

I got on the muffin kick, stopped at McDonald’s this morning and got one with sausage and egg, and one of their grease cakes. Haven’t done that in months.

26° now, the wind is cold. Our snow now pushed back to Sunday morning, yester day it was to start sat night.

Supper almost ready, homemade sausage corn chowder. Smells good.

My grandfather used fresh Youpon sticks to roast hot dogs and marshmallows on open fires because the green sticks did not burn, does anyone else use any native sticks for roasting?
We used to cut off a fresh branch from any tree, usually maples around the house.

Saw something on my SIL's FB page.... it is also her birthday today. I thought this was appropriate for Bird:

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY OF THE DAY OF YOUR BIRTH!

I never heard that phrase before, thought it was neat....

It’s one of my sisters birthday also.

Wngsprd, how many pounds of green coffee beans do you roast at a time for yourself and how long does the batch last?

Don, my roaster is rated at 1 kilo (2.2 lbs) but I usually roast 454 grams (1 lb) each batch, and do 2 to 3 back to back batches each session. There's a moisture loss of about 13 to 16% during the roast, depending on the bean type and how light or dark you roast. After roasting 1 lb of green beans, I usually have about 14 oz. I've never thought about how long it lasts...depends on whether we give it away or have company, but we usually have one or two mugs each in the morning and that's it.

I had hot dogs roasted that way as a kid, but don't know what kind of stick.
