55F and light rain @ 12:30. Winds are howling. Severe thunderstorm watch just issued.
Noticed just a bit ago that looking out towards the southeast all the leaves on the oaks are gone. I guess between the cold overnight lows and the high winds they all came down. That seems kind of unusual ... can remember them holding on until nearly spring in times past.
The Squeak declined to safari in the garage this morning ... acts like she wants to go out but then just stands in the doorway when I open the door and mews ... doesn't like that cold concrete on her paws apparently ...
Finished up consolidating the block off of two pallets yesterday and got the empty pallets moved up to the woodlot next to the pile of split oak. Rain ending today, no rain for awhile and temps heading up to near 60F by Thursday/Friday of this coming week. Several pallets of retaining wall block still out front, will get those moved over to the pole barn later once temps warm back up.
Also refilled hopper and tube feeders with sunflower and cracked corn, stuck another ear out for the squirrels. They had mostly picked it clean by the time I looked out there this morning. Just saw this fella out there, trying to gather up whatever is left:
Got water dish for deer cleaned out, required a good bit of scrubbing ... had concrete stuck to the inside of it. Some phosphoric acid eventually took care of that ... Still need to get that set out and filled with water.
Fed all six containers of white worms. They look like they are making a strong comeback.
More work done on squirrel feeders, but not hung yet.
Figured out last night that I mistakenly ordered six
lids for Rubbermaid Brute 10G trashcans from Menards ... not the trashcans themselves. Thought it seemed like an awfully good price ... will have to see how it goes as far as returning them, as they are an item they don't normally stock ...

Home Depot does stock both the 10G and 20G though ...
Need to place an order for cat food and litter ... won't pick it up until at least tomorrow, after the rain and wind ends.
Considered ordering a Moultrie roll-your-own feeder kit (uses a 5G bucket or whatever) for the deer ... but not sure exactly where I would hang it or whether the coons and squirrels would tear it up trying to get at the food inside. Plus there's the aspect of actually having to go out in the cold and fill it ...
Inside and warm sounds so much better ...
